I find that I don’t enjoy 85% of my tbr veterans, and I think it is because I get so in my head and hype them and then i can’t enjoy them. I actually avoid buying books now for this reason, because the guilt and disappointment is just too much! but sometimes I do a reread before reading a unread book i’ve been sitting on, and I find that helps, because I’m almost always more excited for rereads and obsessed with them, so it gives my tbr veterans more wiggle room. but also, go dnfs! the sooner you can move on the lighter you’ll feel

I'm definitely about embracing the DNF. It's always a downer when you've been looking forward to a book and it doesn't work but better that ans get rid than persevere and put yourself into a slump. It's why I dnf'd Birnam Wood too - not even the audiobook could save it.

I've been going through my tbr as well! I cut down almost 100 books on my tbr! I only own about 8 books but these were on my goodreads list. I decided I didn't want to read them or checked them out and read/dnf'd them. Down to 147 on my TBR list and going strong! My goal is to get to 80-100.

💗🌝 I dnfed the doomsday book by Connie Willis so I suppose that is my least favourite for the year. I really liked the premise and overall the story but the author was so repetitive it was a struggle to get thru 😅 my favourite would have to be a tie between to the friend who did not save me and in cold blood x

YES! Absolutely! I feel this and totally agree. Thank you for saying this. This is why I don't pick up some books that may be raved about like "My Dark Vanessa." I don't want to be in the headspace that I know it will inevitably put me in.

I almost DNF’d Birnam Wood but stuck with it and ended up giving it 5 ⭐️. When things pop off they really get unhinged. But it def takes way past p63 so if you’re not feeling it prob best to let it go with no regrets. 📦📦📦

It always hurts to DNF a book but it's especially painful when its 4 books in a row. But, this frees up your reading time for books you will hopefully love and finish. I had 6 DNFs last month so I feel your pain.

The Timothy Wilde series by Lyndsay Faye is excellent. I have not read her orher books so I can't compare but l Read Thay series a while ago and I keep telling myself I should reread it.
Such a fun tbr video! I went to a panel this weekend with Sarah Beth Durst on, and now I want to read all her books!
I'm sorry you didn't love the books you read, but I LOVE that you fearlessly DNF'd them! I''m a big fan of DNF'ing. Life is too short to read books you're not loving.

I'm sorry that books you really thought you'd like didn't work out, especially after you hung onto them through your previous collection culls. That being said, I'm in the camp of people who are really happy you tackled them, ever if they were DNFs. Now you know for sure they're not for you and you can open up that space for new potential faves. Also- they don't have to take up any more mental space, as there's no more guilt for having not read them. I think this vlog was a total win!
Look at it this way - in ONE episode you were able to knock out almost 10% of your starting list!!! 📦

I mostly read ebooks I very rarely buy physical books anymore but I do have 30 physical books in my tbr. Some of them I bought 20 years ago.😂 I can't unhaul them until I read them though. I read only 1 physical book a month so it will take me time but I don't mind. Great video ❤
