Hey could you give me some tips on how to make my male green tree monitor stop popping all over me when I have him out? He’s usually pretty chill and never stressed but he always poops when I have him out would be nice if you’d have some advice

🎉I definitely agree with the idea of ropes and vines. They use the same thing in zoos with mammals and birds, why not reptiles🎉

Please be sure to keep us posted as to the fate of the various plants. I’ve had an exceedingly difficult time getting palms to take in my GTM’s enclosure. even the rugged pygmy date palm has had a tough time under her heavy treading on needle sharp talons, so I’ll be curious as to if the majesties and arecas fare any better..

Dayyan, hope you read this but I remember about 4 years ago on the 29th of February, 2020; it was a gecko feeding video. I commented on that video that I noticed an emerald monitor book and asked you about it. Ever since that day, I have been WAITING for this exact video.... Four years later, and you have DELIVERED. I remember when you got Sabz in as a tiny little baby.😭 Haven't been in the best of spaces, but the upload of this video just made me feel so sentimental and nostalgic. It sounds like such a trivial thing, but honestly THANK you Dayyan for your content... Your channel is one of those that helped me keep my passions alive. Can't wait for more Sabzi and Basil content!

We have Audax and Johnsonii and I don't build habitats … I just let them roam the house and yard. They come in and say hello and clean the house of nasty insects and then I go out and great them in the garden. Truly some of the most beautiful animals to evolve on this blue marble!

Couldn't the wood have been stained individually before putting together the enclosure ?

  • @Reptiliatus

Yes, I should have done that but opted not to care because several of the sides were pre assembled and I couldn’t extract the walls for staining.

Nice enclosure, though I would add much more leaf litter until its a really thick layer and you will have to dig to get to the substrate, it will just as the tropical environment.

Omgosh, I just watched an isotopes video you made and explained how idk if any of mine made in in the geckos tank but I just found one! Meant to be. I have dried plantain and some other dried flowers and tossed it in an empty spoodle 3x3x6" with a bunch of coco coir. Misted. What would you recommend if anything?

I added some isopodes to my geckos new bio active terrarium, but I should definitely look more into it. He's old and seems happier. But, idk.if any of them made it. I like the idea of adding the calcium straight into the soil.

I used to have a Tokek/Tokay gecko that lived with me for almost 20 years. I also had house geckos that laid eggs. The eggs hatched, but I didn't have anything like flightless fruitflies to feed the tiny babies. I also had a "grecko terbang" - a flying gecko. It looked just like a piece of treebark. It could jump and glide on flaps of skin just like a flying squirrel. All of my geckos liked to bite.

The reward of seeing your animal’s natural behaviors as a result of keeping them in the best possible, most naturalist enclosure is the MOST rewarding part keeping reptiles for me. This enclosure does a great job achieving that. And go Dr. Alex Brown!!!!!
