    Hi Vogman found this channel from an old reddit post about resin printing and casting of jewelry and I am looking for guidance what would be a good printer for jewelry casting? I have only used fdm, so the details is not quite there, and mine can't print with casting wax. This printer seems good, but have you reviewed something you felt was better for wax resin casting? And do you have other good inputs to start casting metals?

    This was great! A lot of people complain online about FreeCad being dumb, hard to understand or not that great. But its actually amazing that it's a free software with so many CAD functions. Once you start to become familiar with the tools, and more importantly how to sketch, you will realize how useful it is. And again its FREE! Thank you for this. I see myself watching this multiple times the next time I want to sketch something a little more complex than a single plane object 😅

Congrats mate, this was the perfect mixture of "People who start from scratch need to know THESE things", "This GUI escaped a timecapsule from the 90s, I need to tell my viewers what's actually important" and "Lets make this informative, relaxing and funny at the same time" Thanks to this, I was able to model a spool holder in half an hour without any prior CAD experience. Just curious if you're going to be doing a review on the Anycubic Photon Mono M7 Pro (currently on Pre-Order I think?)... I am currently trying to decide between it and the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra... The heater in the M7 Pro looks excellent, and so does the resin top-off... But it's lacking a camera, and the tilt vat on the Saturn 4 seems like a really good idea (though it also seems like 1 more thing that can break).

    I was expecting $500. I can't imagine this being 2X better than the $400 Saturn 4 pro. I can add my own heater for less than a hundred and I'll have a comparable printer that prints faster. Unless I'm missing something here? I bought the Frozen 4k when it came out and sold it right away as it had terrible build quality. It'll take a lot for me to trust this brand again.

    Phrozen do enjoy separating themselves from the masses by charging more. It's a technique to say "we're better quality." I like this unit. I liked the quality. But with the Uniformation GK3 just around the corner and with Elegoo and Saturn about to launch new printers, I suspect Phrozen will be dropping this price soon in order to stay competitive.

    I don't critique the critiques of others. We're all entitled to an opinion. It's up to the viewer to decide how valid that opinion is. My experience was positive. I can say in a workshop with an ambient temperature of 16C, the Revo stayed toasty warm which is what resin like. I've been experimenting with heaters for a number of years now, including building my own. I favour "enclosure" heaters over "tray" heaters as ultimately the latter loses heat and the former retains it, and I found the Revo's heater a reasonable enclosure heater (though I did offer a couple of comments I believe). Could it be better? Sure... but I've been campaigning for manufacturers to include heaters since the Mars 2, so I'm just grateful they're finally listening 😁

    Thank you, always enjoy your videos. You said you have no reason to bother going less than 0.03mm layers, but the machine can do lower. So how much lower? What is the lowest possible layer height? It's all important to know the minimum vowel geometry for every machine. Thank you!

  • @vogman
    @vogman9 күн бұрын

    The problem with resin is that it needs to be mixed properly to work well. As you reduce layer height further, you dramatically increase time taken to print. This allows the resin to separate. So, in trying to get a better print, you end up with a worse one. That's why I stick with .03 - it's the happy medium. As speed GENUINELY increases (not silly marketing claims) and as resins improve, we'll be able to reduce layer height to .01 with ease. Those will be amazing quality prints.

    The problems with the surface maybe because the sand was not compacted enough around the pattern. If its not compressed it will contain gas from the air, oxygen, traces of vaporised oil from the sand, and leave porosity for the oxygen to burn the sand oil generating more 'components' gas and solid. You should always compact the sand as best you can.
