As for the international shipping, I'm from the UK but was sent to the US to work for a few months and I heard about them so was perfect timing for me to grab one to test. Perfect for summer parties. If I'm honest, I also have the 'Bok' bluetuth speaker in the UK. It's a large Bluetooth speaker, has 20+ hours of battery life and goes 3 times louder than the Brane, but it was designed for big parties :) the Bok is my most used speaker I've ever bought carrying out parties for local events and in woods. So worth checking out also.

When placing the speaker I used the AutoEQ feature. The bass is incredible for its size. Now after changing the placement, the bass was reduced (as it was not corner loaded in the new position) so I moved it back. I found from my experience I had to move the speaker back and fourth to get the exact sweet spot to get the bass to resonate into the room again. I had to increase the bass to +4 to get the same affect again as in the video above. So for anyone using these and having issues with Bass, play around with the position. If you can corner load them, have them 2 to 4 inches from the walls. They sound superb no matter where they are placed but to really engerise a room, speaker placement is key so have a play around :) Let me know how you find yours!

@bellamym623 жыл бұрын
Hi Halalisa, from my experience, no speaker on its own is ever going to produce music at 139db. The horn has the potential to go to very high spl but that would require using eq to remove all the bass and mids. These speakers play at around 110db with a nice bass to them, but getting to higher volumes I use EQ to remove some bass from the tops and use subs under them. Again the yamaha dxs12 mkii subs say they will do 134db, but they would be in a very specific sweet spot playing only a specific tone. Depending on your requirements, generally a few speakers are required and good placement of the speakers. I like my sound to be super clear and full and using my DZR12 and DXS12 subs, I average around 110db just in front of them while maintaining a great sound and not causing anyone permanent hearing loss. RCF HDM45..never heard them so would be unable to comment, but the Yamaha has such a nice voicing, 80s music sounds perfect through them and vocals are super clean. They also have a reduced high output, but that makes them super easy on the ears unlike some speakers that cause ear ache after half an hour. Anymore info, please let me know. Cheers Mark

These speakers are superb. I've not heard the RCF speakers you mentioned, but at the time of audition, they had some RCF speakers in and these where well ahead. This is for my taste though remember. I actually went to a shop to trial the DZR against the QSC K12.2 and found them totally different sounding. The qsc sounded louder but only because it sounded boosted in the mid and was quite harsh. The yamaha has been designed with a different voicing. They sound live. If I play them like a pair of stereo speakers and sit in the sweet spot, it's like the singers in the room. The vocal and clarity is nothing I've heard from other PA speakers in this price range. This doesn't always mean it's to everyone's taste. Rcf do the HDL line array series and they sound (based of KZread!) very similar, very live sounding. The yamaha also have a cut of at 18khz so you don't get that really annoying high pitch content. Dance music still sounds amazing through them. These things also hit some nice low end and punch which had me shocked considering I had always used 15" speakers in the lower price range and these just blow them away somehow. I've also had the pleasure to hear the Nexo speakers and subs (which is yamahas top end) and the tiny 15" subs sound like double 18s! Nexo have given yamaha some tips for these speakers for sure! If u get chance to hear them, give them a shot. They make an amazing pair of stereo speakers in the house while storing them.

They run between 100 to 110db, this is with a 120hz cut. This is still loud enough for party without damaging people's ears. I am considering the QSC 12 2 speakers to replace the mackie ones shortly. The mackie Speakers feature bluetooth, but it's way to quiet to use. I use it at the end of the night when I'm packing everything away

Does the Dac and mixer make a big difference to sound quality on the mackie as opposed to say running a phone straight to the speaker
@mark-bellamy4 жыл бұрын
@@SimonCarson_Racing Hi Simon, the dac does change the sound, it makes the bass a little smoother but I only used the dac in this video purely to get the sound from my laptop to the mixer. The mixer makes a big difference as I'm able to output a higher signal into the mackie and I find they sound better. The Bluetooth function on the mackie is great too, but they don't go loud. I've recently swapped these speakers to yamaha DZR12's. Again, running them off my phone they sound wrong, no punch etc but then running from my laptop, into the decks, into the mixer to bring up the levels, I found at the same volume I could then feel them. The mackie are not the loudest speaker, but they do stay clean sounding upto roughly 110db.

So update.... I've just done a second family party, this time it was mixed music with some dance, and the system was at full. The mackie tops where 80% as to keep little distortion as possible and where hitting around 110db in front with super clear sound. The subs where run with +6db gain just to get the perfect bass response required for a good even sound. This produced a great sound through out the venue but I was requested to turn it up louder for people further away but the tops where running almost maxed out and the subs had the protection light coming on (which I was informed nearly impossible to do). The subs did hit when sat between them, but in front, they filled the sound out nicely but not really music you could feel. These subs are great for small ish venues, but ran out of juice for dance music. I had the subs set to 120hz crossover and anything below 40hz muted.

I've got a fog machine and also a uking 4 x laser light from ebay to add to it. Plan is to try and hang the additional lasers at the bottom. Looking for the quickest and easiest setup.

Did they ship here in the Philippines?
So Brane says US only. Not sure if that's due to some legal reason. You can get this posted to a service which will forward it over to the Philippines for you! But any issues could be a nightmare if you had to send back
Oh GOD! i want one!
oh My!! thats impressive
The best speaker to compare this with is the DEVIALET mania
True! There both similar sized. I think the Brane will win for stereo image and mid range. Bass.... It's going to be a close one. I think it could be a tie for bass. Overall I'd expect the brane to win 👍
Thank you for posting this Would love to see a comparison between the Brane X and the Harmon Kardon Go + Play 3 which also has a downward firing subwoofer
@@RomeenSabahi-y1x weirdly I have just been say in a bar, with 2 sonos Play 3's playing. I had no clue what they where until I search your question. Hoping soon we get more people reviewing and doing comparisons, but doubt they will match the Brane bass wise, not at this size anyways :)

Yep. The DC brick works on America and UK AC input. Just swap out the cable to the DC brick for couple of quid and your sorted.

@@chokechange Never heard one in real life, but watching the reviews, the Brane X would stand up against the small one easily. The larger one however ($3000) goes silly loud for it size. Thx for this Video. First one where I can get a clue of how strong the Bass of this speaker really is. 👍🏻
@@ostrove4694 I know, I bought this speaker solely off written reviews. Hopefully this can show people what to expect. I can't say how loud it gets, as I haven't measured it, but the sound completely fills my small ish flat and the bass is like having a dedicated sub in the room. Just have to remember this is portable and you can take it out with you, which makes it fantastic. I also own the BokSound Bluetooth speaker which I take everywhere in the UK. Much larger speaker mind, but covers a massive area with sound.
@@mark-bellamy I think you did a really good job. Listening with headphones helps with getting an idea how loud it is when compared to your voice. I think I'll get one too when it's available in my country.
Thank you alot for the reviews you've made. Listening to this with headphones. I can really get an idea how they could sound live. The only thing which is holding me back atm ordering this thing is that brane currently doesnt offer international shipping. I am considering to use an parcel forwarding service to get this speaker. Since we have summer now in germany I cant wait till fall when international shipping is a thing from branes side. Cheers!
Glad it helped :) As these are being shipped in the US now, more reviews will start to appear. It's strange how the Brane team have not advertised this more them self's.

@@gumz4183 so at first I thought the highs where really lacking. Bass wise, this has a really good low end. For some reason the tweeters seems a little quiet. Not had this full volume yet. Bought this based off written reviews as was unable to find any KZread demos. I can confirm, you do feel the bass in the room and in your body, great while watching movie trailors. Hope this helps. Any questions fire away.
Hi, I wanted to ask you if two Sonos five set for example at volume 50 sound louder than a single sonos five always set at volume 50? Thank you
Hi, 2 speakers will always give you an increase in loudness :) aprox 3DB increase. Stereo Pair also gives you the proper stereo image, which is why I have 2 :) they sound amazing when set up correctly.
Wonder how these compare to RCF NX 985-A?

The mackies unfortunately where not what I expected. Hence I bought Yamaha equipment instead.
@@mark-bellamy i got a couple of 15bst and i found its just my phone that doesnt have the bass 😂. But they are missing a little bit of power unless i crank it up a bit. I got a jbl sub as well so that should be more than enough for a small patio gathering.
@@puga420 What the mackies do have going for them is the lightness. So easy to move around! And the Bluetooth pairing is amazing and so convient! I have used myne on there own, at a field for back ground music, and being able to set the speakers 60 foot apart from great! And using virtual DJ, I was able to use my microphone as well (With some delay of course) but worked fine. So I have kept them for this reason! A sub makes all the difference though. I have yamaha DZR12's and they have lots of bass, but start to party levels and they bottom out. So I eq them and remove all bass from 100hz down and add 2 x 12" subs dxs12mk2. With some careful setup, the little subs can shake a room! And with the bass removed from the tops, they go stupid loud.
I have the dxr12 mk2 So was wondering about buying Yamaha dxs12 og cheesper macki🤷🏼
I use a pair of DZR12's now rather than the mackie speakers. There design and wooden cabinet give them lots of advantages over the mackies. They also have great low end but! They can't be pushed loud with the low end enabled. So I cross them over at 80hz with the dxs12 subs allowing for better head room when turned up. For loud discos, the subs are a must for me otherwise I have to dial back the bass too much on the tops and I loose the fullness of the sound. From reviews the DXR speakers are also very good! They have a different tone to the dzr series but that comes down to musical preference :)

What level volume they are at? I can imagine 1/4, I mean 25% of their capacity.
Around 25% ish. This was more just to show the quality of audio these speakers can produce. I will be doing a party soon where I will be running these at 80 to 90% of there capacity so I can get some real footage from a small venue.
This is maximum volume?
Nope. Not allowed in garden. Max volume is about 116db ish. Which gives around 110db in front which is fine for small venues to fill a dance floor in front of them and people at the back of the room can still talk fine
How high % volume on Mackie? And how many people are Mackie speakers able to sound?
@@nixx4430 this would be like 15 to 20% just to show the bottom end that was missing. I bought proper subs anyway rather than using the subs you see here. I have used these, maxed out, for an event in a pub with around 60 people just fine but I used subs.

Cheers Mark

The VTX range allow for a flown array and am sure they will get a lot louder than your normal pro consumer speakers like Yamaha. As a stand alone system, the DZR series was great for a small room in a pub. But I've always used subs to get the extra punch. Sorry I can't help any further, but hopfully someone will have more experience with all these speakers. Each speaker will have its own sound and depends on your hearing and taste :) For me, you can't beat the sound of the DZR range!
it will depend on your conditions. how many people, what music, inside / outside. In my opinion 2x 12inch tops and one sub is a very flexible setup.

Totally different sound. K12.2 sounded louder in the middle giving it a louder sound overall, but the DZR sounded more even. Both great speakers, but for my taste (80s music) the DZR was the easy winner. You would need to hear both speakers in real to determine which you prefer. Weight is another factor.

Thanks for the review. Sounds great. Tell me please can these 12 give the chest punch with kick and bass , or that can do the dzr15? without subwoofer? It goes below 40 hz so i think they can , but i never listen in live. Thanks
Your welcome!! These speakers do play down into the 40hz area, but didn't give me the chest punch feeling very much plus the limit lights comes on very quick. I remove all bass below 80hz to increase headroom and use a dxs12 sub under each. After playing for a while to time align the speakers and maximise the bass, I still didn't get the chest punch I wanted. Tbh, I doubt the 15 would either. I am lookin at maybe stacking 2 dxs12 subs under each speaker to increase the kick of the system. When I was in the shop I compared these to many different speakers and brands. The DZR series has a very distinct voicing. Very easy on the ear yet very full sounding. Other speakers all sounded quite harsh in comparison. Unfortunately I can't remember how the dxr 12s sounded. I was torn between these and the QSC K12s. K12s sounded louder overall, but harsher sound. This was all tested in a smallish room in a shop. The DZR speakers above, i use them also as my main speaker system in the house and they sound great in any room at any volume.
Best sound in this class!!!
These speakers have a 'Tone' that no others have. The top end is also perfect. Other brands, the top end can be ear piecing and give everyone ear fatigue. These things, you can listen to them all night with no such issue. Again, these speakers also make great house speakers if you have the room. They sound amazing even in a small room. Not everyone would agree with my next statement, and everyone has there own taste. But these sound more like being at a concert than any surround sound system. Even high end house speaker and amps and dacs, I've never manage to replicate this tone.

Just to add, I've had them upto about 70% volume, no clarity loss, but the bass starts to be cut off. But that was way to loud for me. These are rated around 138db each with pink noise.
Rcf over Yamaha I had the dsr112 vs my rcfhd 12 and the dsr has a crisper hf horn but rcf has better mid bass and bass overall and the dsr is 1300watts rms and rcf 700watts rms and the Yamaha clip the Yamaha need a sub to be paired with it they sound great but I I like the look of the dsr over the rcf hd12a

These subs are great for small ish venues, but ran out of juice for dance music. I had the subs set to 120hz crossover and anything below 40hz muted.
Nice, how can a sub be fast ?
When I say fast, some subs I've listened to didn't seem to be able to keep up with fast music, they started to Blair the music a little and become boomy, but this stays musical what ever I throw at it. Its a fantastic sub.
Band pass baby
Esta conectado en mid, creo que seria mas viable en high ya que la makie ya esta configurada a dos vias.
This is a great video though mate although I went my own root to getting my lighting setup by research and buying pieces over time next is lasers and foggers
Cheers mate, I looked at doing the same and buying separate parts, it gave more choice and potentially cheaper but! This gigbar lighting system is so fast to throw together and packs away into a small case in under a minute, I paid extra for that convience. I've got a fog machine and also a uking 4 x laser light from ebay to add to it. Plan is to try and hang the additional lasers at the bottom. Looking for the quickest and easiest setup.
