What Horror Movies should be turned into a game? Mars Attacks. And may just be it to show people the dreadful horror of the 50ties version before they "remade" it into an utter joke in the 90ties.
I would like a Day of the Triffids game complete with romanceable survivors (as changes to sexual/relationship norms in a post-apocalypse was a sub-theme of the original story).
I would have been more excited for this if it was just a solid single player game. Even if they came up with a new story sequel or something. These kind of things just get boring so quick
Friday the 13th, that Evil Dead game, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, all of those this very same review could sum up those as well. Very fun and interesting at first seeing all the stuff put in from the movies, but after awhile, feels like the game play goes into rinse and repeat. As for the question, one I would love to see is not only my fav horror movie, but my fav movie in general from back when I was a little girl, and that is Ginger Snaps. Not sure how they could make it a multiplayer, but that's fine with me, would love to see it as a single player game, and could think of several possibilities they could do playing as either Ginger or Bridgette. Maybe even both, with that option in the menu, so you could play it at least twice.
What a coincidence.. Just went back to SF 6 today! There was a time fighters were truly my bread & butter.. I’m seriously considering going back to my old ways
Been waitin for this one.
Or as Nintendo would say "the Killer Klowns from Outer Space - The Game game". 🤡
Great review of Killer Klowns game. I loved the movie as a cult classic. I would love to see a Nightmare on Elm Street game. Based on the Dream Warriors movie. Where we can use special abilities to fight back against Freddy Kruegar.
does this game still have a player base? seems like it was dead on arrival
I had no problem finding matches, even during the weird (middle-of-the-night) hours when I'm usually working on reviews. I feel like it has a pretty dedicated base, though I'm not sure how long that will last.
@@DefunctGames There is only one movie in the "series", I don't see a way for them to add much new content like they could've for Friday the 13th if they didn't let that die
A lot of channels have been reviewing this game. I wonder if the developer is paying KZreadrs to talk about it, honestly. 😅 People will hear about this game at some point.
@LuigiMario-ni3rj It's not a matter of critics being paid to cover it, but rather the PR team being both extremely persistent and getting out codes to a lot of smaller channels. If you're a smaller outlet and you get dozens of emails that basically say "we can get you a code for a $40 game," you tend to get a lot of takers. It's as simple as that.
@MikeG82 Sure, I agree that there isn't a ton left to pull from the movie. However, if they are going to keep this game alive, they are going to need to figure something out. That may have to include writing what amounts to fan fiction. Perhaps we can go to the surrounding areas or places that are probably a part of Crescent Cove -- inside a mall, on a nearby island, etc.
Amazing video!
CORRECTION: According to The Numbers and other box office sites, Killer Klowns did not receive a theatrical release in the U.S. in 1988, so I must have watched it for the first time on home video. This was more than 30 years ago, so I hope you'll understand that my memory is a little hazy and (apparently) not to be trusted. Sorry for accidentally lying at the start of the video.
Ridge Racer 64, now there’s an underrated racing gem.
Never saw this one coming back, but now that he's here I choose to be positively surprised and just enjoy the new arrival! I only ever saw the series in game-magazines here in Sweden where it didn't really go higher than the 70 %'s... but Zero was a squirrel who fought with nunchucks and that was too cool for my adolescent brain to let go of. So soon I'll know exactly what I missed out on. The games at least seem decent, but considering it's Iguana behind them that's to be expected. Also, those 90's commercials... the past truly is a foreign country, some times.
The original Super Mario Bros. trilogy, all of them are not only classic games (Super Mario Bros. 2 being more of a cult classic then the more straight-forward classics of Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3), but are basically the Rosetta Stone or patient zero for video games, especially platformers, after that point. There may have technically been platformers before this point, or at least games that involve a lot of jumping around, but its Super Mario Bros. that provided the basis of so many games for, whether they were copying what these games did or reacting to it in a way to differentiate themselves from these games. The influence of these three games is undeniable... in retrospect, which is why it's inherently fascinating to see what people said about these games at the time of their release. Edit: Can't help but feel like calling 89% a "low score" is review score inflation at work, like I get where you're coming from, but 89% isn't low or bad at all, honestly. Edit2: 4:03 I did a double take when I heard the review say "Princess Daisy"... Where did they come up with that name? Super Mario Land wouldn't come out until 1989, and the live-action Super Mario Bros. movie even further than that!
Absolutely right. While Pitfall from Activision and Nintendo's own Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong predated Super Mario Bros., it's that first SMB that brought everything together and created the template for what a 2D platformer should be.
In response to Edit 1: I wouldn't call an 89% a low score normally, but I do think a lot of people would look at an 89% for that particular game as being slightly low. Especially given how influential it was. In response to Edit 2: Believe it or not, I think I know why this happened. The review in question was written around the same time Super Mario Land came out. This was the magazine's chance to review a game they missed a few years earlier. I should have noted that the review was published in 1989, a few years after the game originally came out. Because this was reviewed at the same time as the Game Boy game, my guess is that they simply got their Princesses confused. They probably still had Daisy on their mind when going back to write about SMB1.
Jeez, the British love their soccer games.
Except for Mega Man Soccer. They hated that one, for some reason.
Just thumbed up and subscribed. This game was the absolute shat!! I was 19 or 20, sucks me into the arcade. Met girl, actually in arcade, loved, married, children, then PS4 and Tempest....no freaking way!!!!! Bought and it brought me back in time. Love, love, love this frenetic, electric, mind sizzling slap you in the face game!!!!!!
This is honestly one of my favorite comments. From hanging out in the arcades to marrying to having kids, it's rare to see so much ground covered in a single comment. I agree, Tempest is great, and the sequels do such an amazing job of honoring the spirit of the original. Thanks for sharing your story.
I was super excited thinking they were NSO :(
You know, I recall seeing a video explaining how sometimes, the selection for what we in North America (and also Europe) get corresponds to Japan getting certain games in weird ways. Whenever Japan gets a game that's been exclusive to Japan and is really text-heavy and stuff, Nintendo of America and Europe tries to scrounge up an equivalent game for their side of things. This partially explains why we got Quest for Camelot of all things (it happened to have been published by Nintendo as well), though it seems that they're running out of games they can put in the place of Japan's selection, hence why Kirby's Star Stacker on SNES/Super Famicom and Joy Mech Fight for NES/Famicom, which were already part of Japan's NSO Library, got added in this one. The funniest instance of Nintendo trying to balance things out with both Japan and the West, to me at least, is the February 21st update for NSO this year. Nintendo of America and Europe got a whole bunch of Rare games, namely R.C. Pro-Am, Snake Rattle 'n' Roll, Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, Killer Instinct, and Blast Corps, but what did Japan get? MOTHER 3! So apparently in Nintendo's mind, 5 games across 3 systems across the years is worth one MOTHER 3! Of course, you mileage may vary on this evaluation, but it's still interesting to see what games Nintendo chooses for which region.
Still need to play Zero before I can answer that question, the original cart for that one is absurdly expensive on both Genesis and SNES. Very glad it's getting a rerelease. Of the first two games, I defintiely prefer the 2nd game but I like both.
there's just something about controlling a marble that feels fun and satisfying.
I've never played this series... 😵 My favorite game with "Aero" in it would be Kingdom Hearts II, though. 😅
The funny thing about those EGM reviews, the Sushi-X ones in particular, is that the Aero games were created and designed by David Siller, the original Sushi-X who worked at the magazine for the first twenty issues or so. The Sushi that reviewed the games wasn't him, but... still funny.
What was this rant all about?!? It's a NEW championship game.....not the old one. The new blank cart is a TROPHY. It even has a stand lol. You just sound like a spoiled kid.
Some of us want that Nintendo World Championships cartridge (or, at least, a version of it) from when we were kids. That's what this video was about. It's fine that Nintendo has a new version that isn't the old NWC game, but this video is me making the case for the old game and also talking about the history of the Nintendo World Championships. I didn't insult you, so I'm not sure why you felt like insulting me. That just seems rude.
For your other Review Crew video, think I know what my Opening Joke might be. 😉 And hey, makes sense on Sonic being the first mascot to go up against Mario. After all, I'm sure at one time, Mario looked like he had that market locked down. Then along came Sega and after the Master System failed, they probably felt they needed to strike Nintendo at a point of where it was the strongest, and that being Mario. So made Sonic who could be faster, and then other companies took notice, and there we go. As for the question, I've not played any of these, can't say that I've heard of them, but looks like I have the ROMs, so I'll have to check them out. They do look fun.
The original Aero was a part of my SNES collection as a kid, but I never got to play the other two games. I had always wanted to, but I admit, I've never even seen copies of the other two in person before! So needless to say, I am very excited the the whole series will be back on modern platforms!
1:56 I was very happy here not remembering Awesome Possum until you did, thanks. 🤣
I usually have lots of patience for these platformers from the time. I even enjoy Bubsy. This game though… I can’t do it. That frame rate and choppiness hurts.
I think I rented Aero the Acro-Bat once and it left a huge impression on me... I don't remember if it was bad or good, but I remembered it, which in the sea of animal mascot platformers, that counts for a LOT!
Aero 2 Is the best in the series
I remember the massive ads and reading reviews but I never actually played any Aero game, this may be a good time to start. Just from watching the game play, it seems to have the same problem that many platformers had at the time, overly zoomed in camera that makes it difficult to make jumps and prepare for enemies.
The Genesis versions are more zoomed out but you have to tolerate worse visuals and WAY worse music unfortunately. I still prefer the SNES versions because of those reasons but there's parts in Aero 1 in particular that can be rough because of the cropping.
While I’m glad to see these games being added to all the consoles. My heart stopped for a moment thinking we were getting some Sega games for Switch online. That may be too much to ask for…
The GBA Game/Game 1 remake is also coming to playstation and switch, not sure if that got different reviews
There are reviews for the GBA version, but not as many and a lot of the reviews cover the same ground (both pros and cons) as what people said about the first game. Since we were going chronologically and what few reviews there were for the GBA version were so similar, I decided it would be anticlimactic to end the episode that way. Maybe I'll find a reason to loop back around and cover the GBA game, but you're not missing much.
@@DefunctGames fair enough!
Yay, an Evercade video!
Is this all single player and how many Pokémon can you collect in it. I may get it for my 6yr old son
It’s single player but if you’re defeated in a dungeon then you have the option to have another player save you instead of restarting. It has Pokémon up till the 3rd generation so about 386.
I remember playing this back when I was in middle school and before hand I played through red rescue team in my opinion is my favorite game of all time and it's unique gameplay I even completed the game and even after you finish the game there is lots of stuff to like Evolution if you continue playing including items unique interactions and more till this day it holds the torch to favorite games of all time right next to Minecraft and Mario party
Skreeeeeee-eee-eee
Army Men games were great.
I remember when ign reviewed the game years ago, they gave the game initially a 5/10 before revising it years later to a 6/10. However they absolutely HATED the sequel.
I smell you'RE blood no fucking way they did that
Not sure if you'll see this, but finally had the nightly gaming sessions return, due to finally getting a replacement computer monitor, an actually bigger one than my previous one. Anyways, even though this was a collection of videos, was cool seeing Lorne on this channel again. Always liked how you two play off of each other. Anyways, my previous comment, I answered the question, just wanted to stop by say that and thank you, worked great for a background video. 😉
Man, I honestly was expecting a Genesis / Mega Drive batch at this rate... but even so, I wasn't expecting a Pokemon game. Do they usually have Pokemon Directs around August? Just in case they somehow drop this in advance of a possible announcement happening in that direct. As far as favorite goes, Platinum. Which was coincidentially the last Pokemon game I played before I faded out of the franchise. And I'm very curious for the next months review- Soul Reaver is something I have massive nostalgia for, but Aero the Acrobat really took my by surprise as it feels like it came out of nowhere. Completely absent from any but the most dedicated retro channels, then bam- now the whole series is suddenly on it's way to consoles! I did not see that coming.
I think they just had a Pokemon Direct in June, which didn't come with any NSO games or announcements. Maybe this is making up for that mistake.
@@DefunctGames IT WAS A NINTENDO DIRECT, THE LAST "POKÉMON PRESENTS" WAS IN FEBRUARY
Gargoyle s!!!
RIP EGM.
So, released on 2 generations on the same day. It's like double dipping. 😉 Still, I never was much of a Pokemon fan, and as such, in answer to your question, there is none.
Wow... I bought the physical edition of Axiom Verge for the PS4 in 2015. 9 years later, and I'm finally getting into this game on our PS5. Yes, my backplate was/is still that full. I'm not very far into the game, and I love it... Once I beat Axiom, it's off to play Blasphemous for the first time. Addendum- What's crazy is, I'm barely an hour in, and I already have 3 guns, the drill, and 2 upgrades for the guns. I'm hoping that the game isn't short, but my stupidly fast progression is making me think otherwise.
strange they are only releasing one game on the 9th i suspect they probably will release something else as well but are keeping it secret untill the 9th.
Huh. You know what. I didn't even notice that this game isn't coming out until the 9th. Typically, they announce the game the day of or day before they release it, not a week early. If they do release something else with it, then we'll be back on the 9th to recap whatever comes with Mystery Dungeon. In recent memory, the only other time they've done something like that is when they announced Jet Force Gemini early and then shipped 1080° Snowboarding and Harvest Moon 64 with it.
@DefunctGames it makes me think this is a teaser and they have a suprise release planned. either that or they have a large drop.
I know what you’re talking about but I doubt it…. Fingers crossed though!🤞
I have an overly contrived theory that the story of the second game contains a falsehood about the time travel. I think the asterite is just wrong when it tells Ecco that the timeline is split. The first game pretty clearly shows Ecco traveling without changing history. The asterite is already missing its globe before ecco travels the first time, indicating a closed loop. I also think the second time he travels, Ecco is once again completing a closed loop. Which would mean, at the beginning of the game when Ecco avoids the vortex, theres already a future Ecco getting sucked up & when you travel back to be sucked up with your pod, past Ecco is also there, avoiding the succ swirl. In the second game, i believe that the "good future" is the actual future and the "dark future" is a just a completely separate parallel universe & not an alternate future. The Vortex queen somehow had access to a parallel world where earth was conquered & stashed the last asterite globe there as the best spot to hide/protect it. But she couldn't stay there permanently since there was presumably another vortex queen ruling it. Idk if, under these hypothetical conditions, the asterite would have been lying to Ecco about the split or just simply mistaken.
Even though it was rated T at the time, I think if we see Clayfighter 63 1/3 it'll be on the mature app. What I'd really like is for them to use the switch online as an excuse to rerelease Sculptor's Cut.
It's weird, Interplay added Claymates to the NSO library back in 2021, and has yet to release any of the other Clay games. You would think that they would offer up one of the Clayfighter games, but the series is nowhere to be seen. Baffling.
@@DefunctGames Personally I'd chalk that up to Claymates being more of a kid's game. The reason I said it'd be on the mature app (if they're even comfortable getting it at all) is because they might be afraid that the humor isn't in line with today's sensibilities and don't want the heat. Heck, I even think modern Nintendo might even be uneasy adding Boogerman.
I enjoyed the characters and graphics of Sonic, but honestly Super Mario World was just a lot more fun and a lot more game for the dollar. LOL but, confession, I went with the SNES for Star Fox.
Remaining Pokemon side games not on NSO on systems NSO has: GBC: Pokemon Pinball Pokemon Puzzle League GBA: Pokemon Pinball Ruby/Sapphire N64: Hey You, Pikachu (will not happen due to lack of microphone on Switch) Pokemon Puzzle League is a Panel de Pon game and it's fine but there's no reason to pick the GBC version over the N64 one. I expect all three on NSO within a year.
Awesome
