First timer here, the ask for comments, I am way in the beginner days. Your input an sugges are great!! My suggestion is to may e use a pencil an mark the area the camera sees that way you stay in the middle of the box? And you can erase it after.

15 minutes for 4 holes and a rope through :) Too bad i don't smoke weed, otherwise it'd be extremely entertained. Beyond all that, great tip, mate.

You can put it in a microwave for about 15-30 seconds. It makes it much easier to spread around . It also lasts a while so the paste is available to use easily in the future. I use these pastes all the time and fine them to be the best one can find

Do you need to be concerned with the core of the tree your carving on when it dries? I have found that leaving the core often but not always results in the item splitting down the road. Your thoughts on this?

I would love to make this! I have whittling knives. At the beginning you said the sticks had dried out. Do they have to be dried out to whittle them, and if so, for how long should they dry?

I was doing this with a dull knife, and I cut myself badly. No crocheting for me for a week or two. Make sure you wear carving gloves and have a sharp knife.

Does it have to be a tree with green bark? I don’t know what kind of trees are around my house

  • @SpoonsandSpirits

You need a wood that's very "juicy" and full of sap so that when you bruise the bark it separates from the wood. Happy whittling!

I only use a belt strop with diamond paste and IMO you use far too much pressure, only the lightest of pressure needed cause you're just polishing the edge and I just hang mine off a hook as they're intended. Nice to hear an English voice for a change here on YT.

It looks like you could use half the amount to do the initial coating. Nice touch on the 3 part strop system plain, 8000, 4000.
