I really enjoyed this good sir! I tried it on a spoon carved from cotton wood bark, a little to soft for some of this detail but it’s alright for the first try. Thanks again cheers! 🤙🏻👊🏻

this is so cool! do you think wooden dowels, like from craft stores, would be a good wood for whittling? i'd be interested to see a video on that. they're so skinny....

those random talks u have while u carve, i like those small stuff u say, its comforting, like u said nothing is perfect, so the carve doesnt really HAVE to be perfect, a little defect is okay lol, it is something very minor but, like me, it could make someone feel a bit better about this

Thats awesome well done! As for gouges, if you're on a budget, most of the cheap unbranded sets will do you well for a while but the dont hold sharpeness well and are phones to chipping. If you want to spend a little more though, you can never go wrong with flexcut, go for the starter sk travel set to give you a feel.

@@SpoonsandSpirits thanks v much for the recommendations. I'll keep an eye out for them. I probably should make sure i'm into it before splurging for the flexcut set. Happy to be a dirt rider for a while. Starting out with a SAK and Opinel 4 and 5! Hope your well out there! 👋

Do you happen to know the size and sweep of the U gouge?

I'm not sure as it was from a cheap set which has since broken but to hazard a guess I'd say it was a #9 approx 0.75 cm
