Orthodoxy is both new and old to scandinavia... for example: look at norwegian stave-churches... and look at wooden romanian chruches 👀🇳🇴 there are some striking similarities, combine that with viking hisotry with russia and the baltics and you got a good case going. :)

Interesting. They deserve some sympathy. As do True Orthodox Christians, some of whom like me are under Synods (e.g. the Tikhonites) which are entirely canonical descendants from the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR). Sadly I'm not aware of any Edinoverie under canonical True Orthodox Synods, but would be delighted to be proven wrong.

As I type this I am an Orthodox catechumen and formerly I was a uniate monastic in Catholicism. St. Justin Popovic has been among the foremost influences during my process of conversion to Orthodoxy and I pray that I am able to use take birth name Blagoje as my baptismal name. He has resonated with me because I have first hand experience dealing with just about everyone within the spectrum of Catholicism to include dedicated ecumenists which I have found to be of particularly great danger to all spiritually. I also agree with him that Catholicism has had an extraordinary influence which is led to so much evil in the world directly or inadvertently, usually through the tyranny of good intentions and oftentimes through what GWF Hegel would refer to as the cunning of reason. Saint Justin, pray to God for us 🇷🇸☦️

I think it’s very important to note for most EO. These people are in schism. They are similar to oriental Christians and syriac, despite being Russian and appearing orthodox. How we worship is not magic or sorcery, doing a slightly different sign of the cross does not make it entirely ineffective. Being in schism with the rest of orthodoxy and out of communion removes the grace from the church.

Here in Canada, people will still say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Easter", but I notice that none outside of the Orthodox church knows to say "Christ is risen". It is especially noticeable when our Pascha is so late that the Latins have even forgotten that we are celebrating Pascha.

In 1666 Nikon schism The sighn of the cross was changed, as well as the direction of making the cross was reversed. you should have mentioned. The old rite old believers were persecuted terribly for maintaining their religion unchanged. In 50 some years after 1917 their numbers were reduced from over 20 million to less than 2 million. Under Lenin hitler and Stalin slaughter. Only the ones who were lucky enough to escape abroad survive today. Also there are survivors in Russia .

Heart breaking to listen to someone trying to be religious and even saying the name Jesus, but lacking the most basic truths of Christianity. Yours is a false and useless practice that is not pleasing to God. There is no climbing by your own works to heaven. Saying a set number of prewritten prayers to atone for missing a service is utter nonsense. God created you with a mind and freedom of choice for the purpose of a relationship with Him as an intelligent being. He could create mindless creatures to repeat prayers in vain repetition but, He wanted more, a real relationship with you. Thank you for your sincerity but, please think about what you are doing. Read your Bibles and come to know Jesus who died for you and saves you by His grace alone.

According to Deacon Philip, it appears that many Old Believer communities are without a priest or liturgy or anything due to them feeling that "True Orthodoxy" is dead, but isn't that a little ridiculous? So they leave themselves without any form of salvation, since Our Lord specifically "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you." John 6:53. If you ask me, some of the Old Believers are acting exactly like the Scribes and Pharisees, who condemned even Our Lord for healing people on the Sabbath. I doubt very much that Jesus would want people to be separated from Him and from the Christian Community over such petty things as whether to use 2 fingers or 3 fingers. All throughout Our Lord's ministry, he tried to simplify things. He reduced all of the Law Covenant down to Two Commandments and taught that the Sabbath was for Man and that we should do good on the Sabbath, even if it violates outdated Sabbath laws. As to whether 2 fingers or 3 fingers, my feeling is that Jesus told us to Baptise, not only in HIS name, but in the name of the Holy Trinity. Therefore, I would question whether any blessing with only 2 fingers is even valid since all blessings should honor God in His Fullness, in the form of The Holy Trinity, regardless of whether all 3 persons were crucified or not.

I think it’s very important to note for most EO. These people are in schism. They are similar to oriental Christians and syriac, despite being Russian and appearing orthodox. How we worship is not magic or sorcery, doing a slightly different sign of the cross does not make it entirely ineffective. Being in schism with the rest of orthodoxy and out of communion removes the grace from the church.

Here in Canada, people will still say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Easter", but I notice that none outside of the Orthodox church knows to say "Christ is risen". It is especially noticeable when our Pascha is so late that the Latins have even forgotten that we are celebrating Pascha.

Heart breaking to listen to someone trying to be religious and even saying the name Jesus, but lacking the most basic truths of Christianity. Yours is a false and useless practice that is not pleasing to God. There is no climbing by your own works to heaven. Saying a set number of prewritten prayers to atone for missing a service is utter nonsense. God created you with a mind and freedom of choice for the purpose of a relationship with Him as an intelligent being. He could create mindless creatures to repeat prayers in vain repetition but, He wanted more, a real relationship with you. Thank you for your sincerity but, please think about what you are doing. Read your Bibles and come to know Jesus who died for you and saves you by His grace alone.
What is vain about calling on the name of the Lord Jesus without ceasing?
According to Deacon Philip, it appears that many Old Believer communities are without a priest or liturgy or anything due to them feeling that "True Orthodoxy" is dead, but isn't that a little ridiculous? So they leave themselves without any form of salvation, since Our Lord specifically "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you." John 6:53. If you ask me, some of the Old Believers are acting exactly like the Scribes and Pharisees, who condemned even Our Lord for healing people on the Sabbath. I doubt very much that Jesus would want people to be separated from Him and from the Christian Community over such petty things as whether to use 2 fingers or 3 fingers. All throughout Our Lord's ministry, he tried to simplify things. He reduced all of the Law Covenant down to Two Commandments and taught that the Sabbath was for Man and that we should do good on the Sabbath, even if it violates outdated Sabbath laws. As to whether 2 fingers or 3 fingers, my feeling is that Jesus told us to Baptise, not only in HIS name, but in the name of the Holy Trinity. Therefore, I would question whether any blessing with only 2 fingers is even valid since all blessings should honor God in His Fullness, in the form of The Holy Trinity, regardless of whether all 3 persons were crucified or not.
