no dual sdcard and very bad battery life, thats the only problems about a7ii
@fotosvond_Ай бұрын
What you said about video on the 7 II is right for the most part. The problem isn't primarily the resolution, it's two different aspects: 1) It is line-skipped and 2) it does show a lot of nasty Moiré. If you shoot a nature scene, this really hurts the eyes because you have all this fine detail and you don't get a full sensor readout or binning or anything like that. I guess it will only use 1/6 of the sensor pixels, every third in width, every second in height. I don't know exactly how it works technically, but as soon as you shoot scenes of a certain complexity, you will note this. You can't just point it somewhere and record as you would with 4K. You really have to be mindful how to compose, as you said. I'd say it is even beneficial to work with shallower depth of field to blur out what is not in focus to kind of hide it. Concerning video AF, well yes, it's light and day between A7 III and II here. The 7 II isn't so sticky, it tends to shift more. If you know how to use MF, I'd recommend doing that, as long as you don't have plenty of light. Concerning everything in terms of photos: Shortly, this camera is still VERY capable. I used it with a Tamron 28-200, a Tamron 35/2.8 and Sony's 50/1.8. There is nothing to say why you should not use this camera for photo. Plus, and that is strange, I liked the outcome of photos on the A7 II a lot more than on the 7 III or 7R III. The latter show weird colours on their LCD and the image (SOOC JPG and MP4) was shifted too much towards the reddish side. In the end, I can only agree with your statement at the end: Only photos? A7 II, no problem. Care about video, too? Better go for the A7 III. As a beginner, the A7 II is ideal because you can work yourself into it to maximize what you can get out of it, be it manual focusing, working with RAW, working with picture profiles, customizing your camera to your needs.

I did buy one but bought the cheapest available and was not happy with the physical properties and fit.. returned it for refund. So, my advice would be, don't buy the cheapest. May need to use 8GB or 16GB SD as a maximum capacity.

Can't believe you didn't mention the total lack of any auto focus function in video mode as part of your review. Love my D5 mk2 by the way. Use it with Tamron 28-80 f3.5-4.5 and 80-210 f4.5-5.6 AF lenses with superb results. Lenses cost £40 for the pair and body was £229 for near mint, little used example with 6 months dealer warranty, 3 batteries (showing max health) and a fast Canon charger and wide Canon 5D mk2 dedicated neck strap. Also have Nikon AI-EOS adapter with aperture control lever for fitting my Nikon 20mm f2.8 and Adaptall 2 lenses.. like my wonderful mint Tamron SP 23A 60-300 f3.8-5.4 (£20), Can't wait to try it with my Pentax SMC 70-210 f4 too (£34) which produces stunning results on the Pentax K-m with 10MP CCD sensor. These later manual lenses allow for distance scale focusing while shooting on the 5D when tripod mounted.

I just bought one of these because I wanted a lower priced full frame camera so I could use my Lensbaby lenses collection more effectively. My other cameras are cropped sensor. The Lensbaby effects work better with full frame. Unfortunately the first day I took it out to shoot photos the mirror fell out of it's housing. Just be aware the earlier release of this camera has this issue. Canon offered to fix it for free back in the day, but apparently a lot of owners didn't send them in for the free fix. I read that Canon fixed the issue when they manufactured more. Unfortunately I had to return it to B&H for repair. They offer me a credit towards another toward the gear of my choice because that camera is no longer supported.
