Hola! My name is Mari and I’m a Puerto Rican wife & mom of 2. Take a peak into my kitchen while I create my culture’s traditional dishes. ❤️
My hope is to also inspire all generations of both island-living and stateside Puerto Ricans to get in touch with their Boricua roots by means of cooking. 🇵🇷
My videos are simple, straight to the point, and relaxing. 💙

I was watching Power Book II Ghost and they were eating this dish. I looked it up and was like ...Oh my..i need to make this dish this coming winter. My hubby will love it. He loves beef and rice. Id make my cornbread to add it. I cant wait!
Thank you for sharing. I’m definitely going to make these for my family. PS ~ I really enjoyed your background music too 🎶
Ms. Maria I just found out my son loves this recipe. Thank you for putting it up. I would make it for him. I would challenge myself by using two different ingredients which is sweet potatoes and turkey ground meat. Just to see how if he would like that also. Lol. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
I know the ingredients are different, but it looks just like HImalaya Doaba Pulao I cook! I love Puerto Rican people and food a lot, looks delicious!
Interesting! I need to look that recipe up now! 😯
@@mariscookingpr Pulao in South Asia uses Masala, that's the only difference, one common spice being cumin / jeera with Pollo, the rest are different LoL
Swine yea I know cancer 😊 and beast cancer but I guess full blooded Ricans don't get it
I love cooking this for my family also for gathering my kids love it. I wanna leave a Legacy of everything. My mom taught me specially Puerto Rican appetizers and great dishes amazing.❤🌻🦋🧡

Empanadillias
Yes! Finally! 😂
Hola Mari! Who doesn’t LOVE Pernil! Sadly, no Pernil here on the West Coast…more reason to move back east. Professional or not, you sure look like an Amazing cook to me!
@@FoodWineCoffeeLover Thank you so much!! 🥺
Love it! I just like adding sazon to the bacalao for added flavor and color. Absolutely delicious though
They look delicious
Wow, that looks amazing👏🏼 it takes me back when I used to live in New York❤️
Yummy!! I just took on the roll of making this the past 2 years. So good! I do a Jamaican jerk pork fusion. I’ll need to do a video one day!!❤
Omg yes you do! 🫡🤤
Hey Mari 🤗 That Pernil looked fabulous 😍 I usually cook pork butts/ shoulder in my crockpot or when I use the oven I like to use cooking bags. The skin I would cook by itself. Did you know there’s non-stick foil? Not enough on a roll for me. Maybe for an occasion but I wouldn’t use it regularly. Too expensive.
@@nataliemscrzysxycoolharris Hi Natalie! Ooooo those are some great tips! I like the thought of braising it in a crockpot and just cooking the skin separately! 😯 I’ve never tried cooking bags but want to!
@@mariscookingpr Yes you should try cooking bags. They should be located near the aluminum foil in the grocery store. It helps to lock in the juices of whatever meat your cooking in the oven. Put all your veggies in it too. Easy cleanup too.
Looks delicious I will definitely try this one Mari loved the tutorial!!
Thank you!!

Thank you... good recipe
Mari is the best ❤️
Thank you!
I've never seen Bistec encebollado made like this 😮 I'm a mushroom lover. I never thought to add them in lol I am now. Thank you ❤
Mari, I was trying to find a good online recipe for guineos to give to friends and found yours to be the best. Others say to peel the guineos before boiling, and that's a recipe for early discouragement. I follow your technique (and my mother in law) and boil them with the peel on, and that's a recipe for success. Thanks for sharing the right way. 😉👍
Yes! It’s such a time (and nails lol) saver!
I am Nu Rican and finally trying to learn how to cook, besides the food can you recommend the pots, pans and other utensils used to cook. PLEASE
Hi! Honestly, all you need is a good deep dutch pot of various sizes. You can get caldero sets on Amazon! Large wooden spoon, and some good quality pans. Which reminds me-I need to change mine. 😂
How do you make sofrito?
I have 2 videos on my channel that you can refer to 😊
Mom used to make these Empanadas 2 or 3 times a month in Miami 305. I miss those days. Thanks to this channel, i can now try to remake some of her cooking. Gracia doña Mari 💪🏾❤️
Awww thank you!! ☺️
Do you know the size of your candelora ?
This caldero is about 3.7 quarts and is medium-sized.
Born and raised in PR, those are pastelillos. But they look good regardless 👍🏼
Pastelillos. Im from N.Y. and i grew up calling them that.🤷🏽♂️
Thank you
I like variety in things as this. 1/2 as you make them here and 1/2 as cheese for stuffing. Life is like a box of chocolates, no?
Sure ☺️
GARCIAS pero donde la pernil!
Acabo de grabar la narración para el video de pernil! Así que, manténganse al tanto! 🔔
@@mariscookingpr tabien, garcias!✌️💛😃
I am going to attempt to make these, but my question is, would these turn out good using olive oil? They looked so good when you made them !!!
Hi! Do you mean frying them in olive oil? Or replacing the butter for olive oil?
@@mariscookingpr frying in olive oil. I ended up using canola and they don’t turn out well when I fry them. They start falling apart during the frying process.
@@elenaflores7523 Okay, so that is probably due to the potatoes needing a bit more cornstarch. That will help give it a better consistency! Pure olive oil is decent for frying, but grape seed would be better as it has a higher smoke point. Don’t give up! What kind of potatoes did you use?
@@mariscookingpr I used yellow potatoes and I attempted this a few years ago too and the same thing happened.
Okay, try adding more cornstarch next time. Like, an extra tablespoon and see how it goes! Also, make sure your oil is pretty hot. If the oil is not hot enough, the potato ball will start to absorb excess oil and get soggy, which will result in it disintegrating within the oil. I hope that makes sense! Again, don't give up!
No way! This is the first time you made these? They looked perfect, and delicious! Thankyou for your videos!
Glad you like them! Ans thank you!!
