Thank youu🙏🏼🙏🏼
seriously under rated channel my friend! I learned a lot about professional lighting in this one video where as other channels deliver it in sort of a cryptic way. Your form of delivering content is so palatable!
@@3lvi5m Thank you I really appreciate your feedback 🙏🏼 Probably because english isn’t my native language i try to keep it simple and as understandable as possible👌🏼
Really interesting and a great tutorial, but i just like a more natural look
@@leonamadeusivkovic911 Thank you absolutely sometimes less is more but it’s an option too. All a question of the project and the taste👌🏼
I prefer without the SPIDER! thank you.
Free lesson for you my friend use a big monitor on set. This way you see such creatures before the edit👌🏼
straight to the point gear video with no ad placement? and striaght facts in 10 seconds... jesus thank you
Thanks for your amazing feedback!🤙🏼🎬 I can give you an affiliate link to the diffusion if you want so.😜
Perfect mate
🙏🏼
Great tips! And nice and short. Thanks bro!
You’re welcome thanks for your feedback 🙏🏼🎬
how would you do if the model was running and you had to follow her..? :P Its easy to set up a static shot, but what if it was actually moving?
In this case you are limited to the size of the diffusion. The other option is to get more people that move it on stand with rolls. Or you shoot at another time of the day to get better lighting 😅
Shooting in harsh sunlight is always a bit tricky. Your lighting set up looks decent, but for my taste I don't like the second to last setup you did. You get the "sun sandwich" that doesn't look natural. Great for photo portraits but not for a video where there should be a natural look. I like it more with the negative fill from the last one. I can tell where the sun is coming from and the negative fill is on the dark side. Maybe a little further away since i don't think the sun even on the dark side would be that contrasty around mid day/afternoon
I've never seen anyone operate camera lefty before.
I‘m build different 😂
great video bro
Thanks mate🎬🙏🏼
Hammer ....
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Interesting...but I thought the actual shot at 2.22 looked off to me, she did not seem to be part of the background...the bounce lighting used later seemed far better.
I would have film like that at all but that's the point of having our own personnal artistic choices in mind. But consider maybe this, try to close a little more your aperture on some shots maybe. For exemple this shot of her looking at the landscape feels to me empty with this background totally blurred. It all depends of the story and emotion you want to tell and maybe that was the goal to have this emptyness.
You‘re totally correct but this is only one lesson from the entire course even the topic you considered is covered in there👌🏼
Forgive me if it's a silly question, but how is the background looking the same brightness as the woman's face, when the diffusion panel cuts the light by about 30%? If you exposed correctly for her skin, then wouldn't that mean the background would be too bright?
hi Manuel freática video. , the difusor is a full stop or 3/4 ?
The diffuser used in the video is 3/4. But if you buy exactly this frame it comes only with a 1 1/2 diffuson.
That bird.
The one in the main shot? You know how many takes it took to get the shadow from the bird in the shot😜
Very useful and to the point thank you.
Thanks for your feedback really appreciate it 🙏🏼🎬
I'd really love to have this kind of ligthning in my shots! It's looks so awesome! Love it!
Thnk you mate me to sadly it takes a lot of time to set everything up for each single shot probably the only downside 😄
straight to the point, quick and effective. You just earned a new sub
Thank you mate really appreciate your feedback and sub! 🙏🏼🎬
The next problem is, you can't take a shot of that woman while walking. 😂
You can you only need more people or a huge diffusion 😅
Nice tips, Manuel! Looks great 🔥
Thank you for your feedback 🙏🏼🎬
Which light was it and doesn't it work with v-mount batteries?
Yes it does work with v-mount but i used it with a generator in this case.👍🏼
@@Allinfilmmaker ok, but why? It makes loud noises and is heavier...
@@spanishprisoner yes but with batteries it doesn’t run at 100% and the run time is pretty bad. Because of that the generator. You really need 100% on a LS600D pro to fight against the sun.
@@Allinfilmmaker thanks for the reply. that's a bummer. Makes it a bit more difficult to shoot scenes where you need dialogue etc.
@@spanishprisoner Yes absolutely but you probably can use a power station in this case but they are quite expensive…
Looks too sourcey
Would help if you told us details / name of diffusion panel you’re using. 2:01
You are right, it is one of many lessons from our course a lot of diffusion techniques and materials are covered there. But here i give you the link to the 8x8: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCfZCcR It comes with a standard diffusion which is around 1 1/2 stop. So a stronger diffusion. Additionally i recomend you getting the 1/4 diffusion for daylight (the same i used here in this example: a.aliexpress.com/_EHrx1tV
2:18 I’m curious how it looks at the moment she walks into the diffusion from direct sunlight in one cut.
Not that great like in the first example you see but more recon eyes and even harder light and shadows.
Great model
are you ok with that red light comes from the ground?
No that’s a problem everything that can reflect even the green of a meadow. In this case i simply corrected it in the grading. Other option is to to cover the floor. But first one worked fine.
we going to talk a out that spider in her hair at 1:36?
Congrats second attentive person here in the comments. Free lesson use a bigger monitor 😂
zigmond, i think, said hard back light and as soft as you can go on the face. bounce works well outdoors...
Cinematography is also about timing.. I would have scouted the location to see when the sun would have been behind her. I am personally not a fan of this side sun look
It is absolutely. Of course you can shoot is as well with a more natural sunset look with a lot less equipment. But it is a technique which is quite often used in commercials. It’s all a matter of taste but thanks for your input 🙏🏼🎬
short and usefull thank you for this video
Thank you for your feedback 🎬💪🏼
I'm new to photography but can't you get the effect of using flash with photo editing software?
Yes you can, that’s called portylook. But flashlight can be quite a hard light which results in hard shadows i like this look too. But even photographers use this technique to tale pictures👌🏼
Handy tips and straight to the point, so much better than many other time wasters on youtube. Thank you!
Thank you for your amazing feedback really appreciate it 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Cool stuff! Where did you film this? Which track? What city?
Thank you mate. Thats in Switzerland probably not that close to you.
@@Allinfilmmaker Not close, but very pretty. Take care!
@@caseyxpress Thanks you too. Let me know when you want to shoot there something 🎬

Sun Sandwich 2:55 👎🥪
Chill creativity has no limits😅
No offense, but you don't even post. He was just showing all the options.
That’s actually not the sun sandwhich lol… the sun is hitting mostly the back of her head with a slight kick on the jaw. This is a very common professional method of lighting, and is not a light sandwich. Before using the thumbs down emoji you should double check your info
Nice one
Thanks mate
What if I have to do a wide shot and get the whole subject in frame? Do I need a bigger diffusion to cover the whole area? How would those two shots match up?
There are many ways to do that. But if you want to do it this way yes you need a really large diffusion. Even than it can happen that you end up with strange shadows on the ground. On a bigger commercial i used the sunlight as main light and to get rid of the harsh shadows i filled it with a 1200d and a 600d with the standard reflectors and no diffusion from the left side. This gave me a similar result here you can see the final shot it is the last part of the Ad: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pImEy6ekfsu8ndo.htmlsi=LpJM1IQpsRnUiALJ
@@Allinfilmmaker ah ok. Thank you
I prefer the bounce light, using sun as hair light.
Of course as well a nice option 👌🏼
I'm guessing that would be called a sun sandwich. Kind of out of fashion by some DPs' opinion.
DUDE! love the video and also YOOO - that spider going in her hair at 1:36 !!!
Hahaha thanks really appreciate your feedback! 😂 welcome to Switzerland everywhere spiders flys and such stuff but she’s a professional actor so no problem😉😅 The first one that sees that here on KZread, you have really good eyes mate😃💪🏼🤌🏼
I had to switch to 1080p to check this :D
haha damn I missed it had to go back and see that lol ! good eye!
I came here to say this. Gave me the creepies
@@pradeepkliyanage 😂
All good, but can you do this without having to lug so much gear, this is the only way?
😂 Watch my natural light video. But if you want to get exactly this look than probably yes.
@@Allinfilmmaker I will, I just lugged a crap ton of gear up a few flights of stairs. Sometime less seems like more
@@greenlightstudios3469 So just use a big white and light foam bounce material and work with that? Tbh i also do not enjoy the move a lot of gear around part in filmmaking but sometimes it is the only way to get what you imagined. But yes sometime less is more. I can‘t wait for a full frame iphone 🙃
No affiliate link to 8x8 :( I'm surprised by the generator. Nowadays $250 P\power station can power 600D for 30 minutes. More expensive ones for days.
Here you go: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCfZCcR The quality is really amazing especially for the price they have a discount right now. Make sure to buy a 1/4 grid diffusion aswell it comes only with the 1.1/2. Yes you’re right a power station is also an option but i need sometimes power for a entire day because of that i stick to the generator for now :)
@@Allinfilmmaker Thx. Unfortunately shipping to my country is more than half the price of the scrim :(. I bet you do not use 600D for 24h? If not they check Fossibot F3600 powerstation. Its 3800Wh, so could power 600D for 6h straight at full charge. And it costs around $1200 (on sale).
@@JoATTech no Problem, i checked right now. The delivery to my country Switzerland is as well around 70.- but even with the shipping cost it’s quite a cheap solution compared to other brands. How much they charge to ship it to poland? I mean its not that far from Switzerland if they ship it from china. :) I will definitely check it out a powerstation is really a great option especially if you need to record sound at some point i will buy one. I use also a 1200d and this light is quite power hungry -.-
@@Allinfilmmaker They say shipping is more than 120€ to Poland :(. Kinda steep. Especially that they can ship it by train to Poland (there is - maybe was - direct freight train connection). Anyway seems like a cheapest option, there is also this Glow 8x8 but only available in states :(. This Fossibot F3600 can power 1200D for 3 hours :D. There are other power stations from different brands but they are like 2-10x more expensive. I personally have Fossibot F800, and it's amazing for the price. Can power 600D for 40 minutes.
@@JoATTech Hmm that is interesting because to Switzerland it is only 70.- theoretically Switzerland is further away than poland.🙃 Check if you can change the shipping method manually. Sometimes this is possible. Thank you for your recommendation i will check this product out. Yes some power stations are nearly the price of a solid new camera. But yes filmmaking in general is not the cheapest. :)
Would look better with 1/4 og 1/8t silk
It was 1/4
@@Allinfilmmaker Could have fooled me. I wanted to suggest the same as @prime7412. It definitely has the diffused look of a full stop silk.
just found your channel. new sub.
Really appreciate it thank you 🙏🏼
Great content!! Just one little question, wich clamps did you used for holding the frame with C stands?
Thank you mate! If you order the 8x8 from Aliexpress it comes with the clamps the quality of the product is really impressive especially for the price: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCfZCcR
The results work well, but you really should be using a rag like that on the proper stands with proper weight, especially as a how to video. If wind picked up randomly, especially if you send it in the air, it can get dangerous. I’m all for the teaching aspect, if you’re gonna teach rags, you should teach the proper way. 🤙🏼
No hate. I'm glad for the video, but yup.
Thanks I know it works what i should or shouldn’t I can decide by my self. But yes combo stands are safer. Or as i told in the video two people that hold it. Not everyone can afford multiple combo stands. But i am sure everyone can feel when it is too windy for such a project. At least we create something 🤙🏼
@Allinfilmmaker yes. I understand. We all have to live with what we can afford. I would love to do like Lubezki and have a tractor that carries your reflector for stability and speed but such is life.
@@manilamartin1001 on point.👌🏼
