    After a few tries I figured it out. before pressing M, the point must already be horizontal to the previous one, then press M, then mouse left click.

    I have auto constraining on… so any line that is close being horizontal, FreeCad will put a horizontal constraint. Hope this answer your question.

    He didn't explain this, but the grid toggle is not available in Sketcher mode. You have to create a new toolbar by right clicking the toolbar and adding the grid toggle from the Draft section.

    @@cadzis673 The reason is we have to move the parts in two steps, the first one is to move it under the file of the assembly and move once again this time under the Assembly node. And I forgot the second and last step. 😆

    Very interesting to know that FreeCAD's assembly is here closer the mechanical principle connection that we learn in school. Using the last stable release I was wondering why FreeCAD uses local systems and not like Inventor or SolidWorks the connections with freedom degrees ! So with this tutorial you brought the answer. Thank you. 👍

    Yes, current released FreeCad version is still using very old school LCS approach which is a real hassle. Watch some of my previous FreeCad assembly videos and you will understand. With FreeCad ver 22 things going to improve.

    I don't like using faces of bodies to orient other sketches. I've had nothing but problems with doing this, due to the topological naming problem, which decides to show its ugly head later in the project, when it becomes a nightmare to try and correct. I've been burnt too many times by this. I learned the hard way to keep references to shapes separated from bodies and surfaces. Ok to link to external geometry in another sketch, but not to other bodies or surfaces - nothing but trouble IMHO. Hopefully, the topological naming problem will be substantially reduced in future versions of FreeCAD. I know they are working on it, but it is not an easy problem to solve. BTW, Your videos are really good, and I learn a lot from them. Thanks.

  • @cadzis673
    @cadzis6735 ай бұрын

    I agree… attaching to faces could lead to downstream topo issues. Thank you for your comment. It is helpful to others to hear from experienced FreeCad user like you. I encourage viewers to leave comments and share your experience…

  • @cadzis673

    in order to move a body, left click on the body to select and right click and select transform and that will show a co-ordinate system from which you select the direction to move or rotate.

  • @cadzis673
    @cadzis6735 ай бұрын

    Hello … yes, that is understandable. I would recommend modifying the shape binder with a sketch. Then you modify the sketch with clearance. Let me know if this is not clear and I will create quick tutorial…

  • @ami6packs
    @ami6packs5 ай бұрын

    @@cadzis673 Thanks for the kind reply. Yes, for inner area, we have to use sub-shape binder and create a sketch over it with 0.4mm clearance. And outer area can be used directly by a shape binder. Just did the exercise. I've been using sub-shape binder only but knowing how i could use a shape binder is a good thing to know. e.g. in this case, i used a shape binder for quickly making an object.

    Hello. If I want to extract volume(bottle of exhaust/intake manifol of car) I need to plug all the outlets of the solid model, then (theoretically speking) erase one outside surface of the solid, which will make the entire outside of the solid model to fall apart and create only surfacessss and then the inside volume should stay as a solid. I can then use it as a model for the casting core and also test the volume of the bottle....I just cannot find anywhere (user forums or youtube vids.), how to erase a surface from the solid body. Do you have any solution?
