    The video is very informative and the content is clear, but some of the "beep" sound effects you used were very high pitched and annoying

    This is good. I just wish the ending wasn’t so abrupt. Some finalized sentiments to let us know it’s ending would be appropriate.

    Another thing with bad habits is that, for instance for smoking, awareness can play a part in bringing you to your senses as in what you smell and taste is bad! Is not rewarding! But the reality is would you even be able to feel that intensely to quit it considering that after years of smoking you have become DESENSITISED to the smell and taste.

    Makes me wonder why I prefer fruit over cake as a kid, and even as an adult, I really love angel food cake with fruit in the middle.

    but how do i update broccoli to a higher reward than cake.

  • @rmodalitad4749
    @rmodalitad47496 ай бұрын

    Awareness... to the taste? That's sensory; pastry, chips, pizza, soda--salt, sugar, fat, unami engineered to light-up our reward system vs. cooked, plain broccoli? No contest. So how does one update the reward value when comparing a superNormal stimulus (engineered processed food) vs. a simple natural/normal stimulus such as broccoli? That would seem to require deep understanding of our reward system, the value one personally places on taste (reward) vs long-term health, a willingness to live with less hyperPleasure and accept much more subdued sensory rewards... and more. This would require a significant amount of cognitive skill and emotion regulation to rein in the primordial survival instincts. One could call that willpower.

I’m seeing not only what’s happening there but also in our universities and cities- leftist professors and students are justifying genocidal terror makes me feel I need to be more vigilant. How to gain true perspective doctor?

    What happens when you bring awareness to eating cake and your experience is positive? Cake, unlike cigarettes, is absolutely delicious. The slower you eat it, the more you savor every bite. The faster you wolf it down, the less you appreciate it. Soo wtf? Why would I eat less after bringing awareness to how awesome it is?

  • @dinoknight1075

    The point is to move it away from being a mindless habit. It’s not eliminating the reward, it’s reducing the habit and craving. Which is supposed to make it easier for you to make good decisions. Since always eating cake isn’t necessarily good for you Awareness is literally just the opposite of mindless consumption. You’re aware of how it makes you feel in the moment, but also apply consequences like if it’s bad for you. That information that it’s bad for your health is also meant to make the reward less, not just the taste if that makes sense. You see whether it’s worth it or not. Basically mindful consumption. So you can decide to eat cake consciously than do it mindlessly

    Please, Dr. Jud, can you talk about porn addiction. Did you have patients with that problem/addiction? I noticed you talk about every kind of addiction or bad habits except sex and porn addiction. I'm desperate, and you're the only person who gives me hope. Mindfulness and curiosity have helped me a lot, not only dealing with urges, but also not feeling so bad after relapsing, but I'm still addicted. Porn's accessibility is very high, and sometimes the compulsion is so high that I am not even willing (or I don't remember to be curious).

    I like this meditation and how it starts with the feet traveling up. But the end of the meditation is abrupt and goes straight into a load ad which is frustrating. I'd like one like this but with a longer transition period at the end & a bit slower/consistent
