Wargames, Historical games and Political games - mainly SOLO!
I love playing Board Games. I introduced board games to my kids very early on and I'm proud to say, they now do the same with their own children. It fosters interaction, conversation, forward planning, resource management, historical interest and a willingness to take part!
But I don't let the lack of a physical oponent stop me enjoying something I love. I PLAY SOLO too. Sometimes it's solitaire only games, or often I play two or three-handed to the best of my ability. Result? I escape to an educative, enjoyable and challenging world of my own choosing. Interestingly, despite playing against myself, I rarely win! :)

One of life's little tragedies that this video series didn't continue. A really engaging playthrough style and so much still to cover game-wise. But thank you for the time & effort you put in to this.
Very kind words, thank you very much indeed sir!
I recently blew my copy from Shadows over Normandie from the dusty shelve and just love how this has the whole vibe a wargaming on a good budget with solid mechanics and atmosphere. I'm a big history buff/ sucker for the Race to Berlin so I would have loved to get a copy of Heroes of Stalingrad but I discovered yesterday Devil Pig Games went tits up and gone...
Right before the two-minute mark, you show chess, and then Wingspan, and… what's the WWI-era aerial-combat game after that?
Best warfighter playthrough ever! Where are you mr. Paul? There are games to be played!
Thank you so much for that kind comment, I do appreciate it. I'm not doing videos currently due to various lifestyle changes but I am considering coming back 😊
@@soloboardgaming Do come back mr. Paul! Remember you once promised another Navajo wars playthrough, for example...
Well done. Informative and entertaining. One small niggle. I believe the second time Moraitis used a grenade while he was on the Houses square, you rolled a two on the Cover dice and claimed it failed because you needed a 3 or better. However, you did not take into account the penetration value of the grenade. So, your two successfully defeated the enemies cover. And, you scored numerous kills as opposed to suppression. Turned out not to be a big deal but it did cost you one extra turn. Thanks for taking time to put out this video series.
Hi Stephen thank you for watching, I really appreciate it 🤗 Yes l did notice that when I watched it through later. Darn it! But I hope you found it entertaining as that has always been my main purpose. Thanks again and happy gaming 😊👍
It’s a shame no new videos I hope your are ok
Yes I'm well thank you. Simply can't afford to keep up with the big boys. Its a bit like an arms race 😊 I'd rather play the games than collect them. But I really appreciate your comment, thank you 👍
@@soloboardgaming I do videos on my channel for fun. Incorporate into my play. I guess part of the fun. Anyway yeah been sharing your videos on FB.
@@clarkcommando1983 You've been very kind, thank you my friend
Bought it
Looks like your not doing videos I hope your well
Very well done
That means a lot, thank you for taking a look sir 👍😊
Playing Napoleon is great! I feel like either side could win especially the games of hardest difficulty. But playing Wellington was disappointing, I just kept winning with little effort. So I made it more challenging for Wellington to win by modifying the BOT rules for the French. I added to French BOT roll of one: If Prussian have 2 units on game board move one French Reserve unit to reinforce I Corps. Then the given "4 Prussion" option and the "otherwise" option. I added to French BOT roll of four - at the end: BUT, If there is only one Guard unit left after the attack move the last Guard unit to reinforce I Corps. I also add to the French BOT rolls of five or six that after the Cavalry attack: if 3 Cavalry units still remain move one to reinforce it's adjacent Corps. (Dragoons could dismount and use their muskets :). Lastly I changed the BOT 6 roll on the "Tactical Events" to remove 2 Allied Infantry units rather than just the one. Finally it was fun and quite challenging playing Wellington too! Enjoy from Virginia!
Useful vid, but I gotta warn others: jumpscare at 15:51
Hello my friend, such a shame Birmingham City have been relegated. Hope you are doing great.
Brun! Hi there! Great to hear from you 😍 I'm very well thanks, hope you are too. Yes, a pity about the Blues. I managed to get to 4 or 5 games this season and its been a roller coaster ride! The huge mistake was the Rooney appointment of course, and we never recovered from it. But we are now where we deserve to be. We can part ways with some dead wood and spend on the positions we need. And hopefully Tony Mowbray will be back from sick leave and can lead us through a really exciting season and back into the Championship! Well......thats the plan anyway 😂
Beautiful graphics; really makes one want to play!
We use another play-through -vid
Hope you are well. Enjoyed the music and gameplay. Great video! Cheers!
I'm italian and i love this unboxing 😉
Thank you 👍😊
Also @ 49:32 shouldn't the husband promotion be free?? As per the housewife's card ability? Maybe the courtship still needs to be rolled? I am not 100% sure there, but I do not think he needed the disk, he should be promoted for free if courtship were to be successful, as I understand it.
Thanks for the series ... @ about 35:24 one of those hunters should have died and been removed, but as seen later on there are still 8 hunters for Neanderthal (yellow).
Just FYI: @33:34 You actually did not roll any 6's, I see 1x1, 3x2, 4x2, 5x1... it looks like you may have let one of the 3's topple to a 6 perhaps? Or maybe you were fudging to make it more dramatic? Either way it looked to me like you should not have lost any hunters.
This is thr 3rd time I've tried to get into this game. Finally something has gotten through. Thanks. Very helpful series of videos.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching!
Coming to this late, but just wanted to add my praise for this playthrough - this was so engaging (in addition to being instructive), as a result of both your enthusiasm and the narrative qualities of the system, and serves as a great advertisement for the game.
Thanks very much 🙂
This or Heroes , ??
Similar mindset I guess, comic book heroics. Heroes has more realism but 2GM is much more accessible and quick to play 👍
Are you still playing this buddy,,it does look tempting!!!?
Apologies for the late reply, yes I do still play it as a 2 player and have great fun with it. And thats the key, its very strategic but most of all its fun! Always reminds me of my comic book battles 😍
Hey man, just picked up the game and really getting into it. This is the best how-to play through of this game on YT. Super helpful.
If you let the imperial guard attack Wellington's right wing they don't get the +1 DRM penalty,so you can defeat the coalition before the Prussians move in, great video, thanks
Great overview and review of the game! Thanks for sharing
AGAIN...so happy I found your vids. Mortar explanation was just great. Same with assault. NOW I get it! -Dan
Very late to the party, but without this video, I'd have been lost. Thank you for taking the time to explain and show this in detail... -Dan
brilliant, thank you
Good tutorial my friend😀
i ditched the WWII Warfighter because their expansion packs are a mess. you get one of the Country expansions...and you get like 6 hostile cards. what am i supposed to do with that? I cant play a mission with 6 hostile cards. or they drizzle out 1 or 2 equipment cards or they give like random crumbs of stuff. it's just dumb. Modern / shadow is much better organized.
Thank you for this video!!
Hello. I know I a late in viewing this. Like your reviews of other solitaire games; Navaho and Comanche games. Still cant find that a copy. I was looking for a video of the first two turns Don’t seem to be able to get the required VP to progress. Not sure what can be done to get out of the gate. Also, in your forced conversion, I believe you can only eliminate ONE adjacent area, not two. I like your presentation style. Thank you.
Thanks for the playthrough. Nice, clear presentation.I have Ancients and now am seriously considering Napoleonics.
I have played this game several times. Here is why I like it. 1. You can finish a game in 2 hours. 2. You can easily teach it to non-wargamers. 3. The Allies do not know which scenario card the German player has chosen which makes this game endlessly re-playable. 4. As the German player, you actually have a chance to cross the Meuse. 5. The mechanics are simple. 6. The step system means you don't have to have big stacks of units. 7. It captures the flavor of the overall battle. Germans start with a bang but every effing turn more US units keep showing up and they quickly start forming blocks at the key road junctions.
You sure like making things hard for yourself 🙂 If you had added the grenade's penetration to your first grenade attack, you would have killed them all rather than suppress them.
I have just got this game and learned so much from your videos!
Ordering this game! Great review!
👍Thank you sir.
My pleasure, thank you!
Coming to this a year after you posted it, but I heartily endorse the sentiments of Mr Jonnynil of a year ago. Thank you so much for this posting.
And thank you so very much for watching, its greatly appreciated
Knew nothing of them, but I've downloaded them now, thanks to you. Love my C&C games. Retired, I have the time to play, but now the games will be so much better. Thanks so much!
Thank you for the play through videos. As others have said, I'm finding your videos to be the most helpful so far in me learning FOF.
new subscriber, good channel, trying to catch up, thank you.
Thanks for taking a look Al 👍
I usually add 1 to the enemy cover when they are suppressed. After all, they are taking cover. Nice play through
One of the hayabusas should've been a flight and not a squadron
This is a great explanation and example of gameplay. Thank you.
Thanks for your time and kind comment 👍
Very nice playthrough. How does this compare to 3rd Reich? I would like to know how diplomacy and unit construction works. How do U-Boats/blockades work?
excellent but the allies are the French, right? lol cool video :) and apparently very good game a french fan :)
🤣 thanks 👍
