    I really appreciate your animation tutorial series. Is there gonna be any episode where you explain post production. Like lighting and effect we can add in animation. Like i want to animate an night dark scene. I can make dark background and environment but what about my character colors. Do i have to change my full rig colors.

  • @DrawnSean
    @DrawnSean23 күн бұрын

    Thanks! Not in this series but I'll do it for the future. There's some good tutes out there for lighting techniques in TB though. You can copy + paste your character colour pallette and then adjust the colours. Whatever pallette is at the top gets shown. Alternatively you could mask a colour to your character and use a blending node for a multiply/overlay effect etc.

    I was wondering if there were other ways to do lip sync in Toon Boom? What if someone wants to make a 18 minute explainer video with Toon Boom that has lots and lots of dialogue? The method you showed seems a little bit... cubersome especially in a situation where one has to do everything by himself.

  • @DrawnSean
    @DrawnSean23 күн бұрын

    Well yea animation takes time buuuuuut you can do auto lipsync but it looks a bit poopy. Can do a tute on it in the future but theres some tutes out there that covers it.

  • @CrankWaved

    At 9:47 is this what would be considered "daisy chaining" according to Zebirdbrain? I'm watching one of her videos now and at 0:58 in her video kzread.info/dash/bejne/oWeqzax8d5PXXco.htmlfeature=shared she shows a rigging hierarchy that reminded of the one you're showing in your video. And now I'm a little bit confused😅 Edit: I watched Zebirds entire video and I THINK what you are doing at 9:47 is not "daisy chaining" but I need confirmation to see if I really understood what was said in both videos

  • @DrawnSean
    @DrawnSean24 күн бұрын

    Nah. All of the nodes have their respective pegs and can be moved independently of eachother, so it's not daisy chaining, this is the correct method.

  • @CrankWaved

    @@DrawnSean Okay thank you for confirming this :) I'm starting to understand a little bit more about this. Also that video was very well explained!!

  • @CrankWaved

    If you add shading should that need to be added to the colour layer? And if so does it need it's own peg?

  • @DrawnSean
    @DrawnSean25 күн бұрын

    You can add it to the colour if you want but you wouldn't be able to use a regular deformer with it otherwise it would break. If you want more control make it a separate element with it's own peg and mask it to the object. I try and keep shading to a minimum as it can make thinks complicated especially if its over multiple separate elements such as the arms. Might be worth checking out zebird' anime shading vid too.

    Thanks. I’m trying to animate a drone that flies into view and then shoots a laser. I had planned to use drawing substitutions with the first drawing blank and then a sequence of the laser shooting out. What’s the best way to do this so that i can utilize easing?

    Simply put a peg on it and animate that. :)

  • @woodya1829

    But when i change the drawing (to show the laser being fired) it changes the artwork for all the frames. I know im missing something basic - do you cover something comparable in one of your videos? I understand moving pieces around with the peg but the laser is different bc it doesn’t appear before or after being fired. Hopefully this makes sense

  • @woodya1829
    @woodya1829Ай бұрын

    is it possible to set ease for drawing substitutions?

  • @DrawnSean
    @DrawnSeanАй бұрын

    Nah TB can't draw frames for you, for frame by frame animation you'd have to draw the eases yourself. You can animate it's peg and fake some followthough/anticipation but you're only limited to squash/strectch/skew/scaling the image as a whole but for those pose to pose youtube info style cartoons you could probably get away with it.
