I feel like if he was in current canon, his backstory would have been that he's a Sonic mimic made by Eggman, trapped in a monitor so that when unleashed, he won't carry on Sonic's legacy but ruin it and be a terrible person, and maybe taking the role of the Evil Super Sonic eventually.
If there was an Extra Life version of Tails and Knuckles, Tails would be brown with blue shoes and Knuckles would be this pink.

Honestly, the palm tree on every title card still makes sense, since the entire game takes place on Angel Island anyway.
This game came out a couple weeks before I turned nine, and I've always called it *_HydroCity,_* because based on the background, it looks like a city that is *_underwater._* I do get the arguments for aqueduct or sewage system, especially based on the blue water slides, but submerged metropolis was the vibe I always got from this zone
The surround sounds of knocking you added during that segment in the creepypasta were unsettling 😅
I remember watching my sister try to beat this over and over. I can't even begin to guess at how many hours she spent on this stupid thing. Eventually, somehow, she did it with the jumping method. After that whenever we played through the game we'd play a new save state, then used her saved profile to play the last 2 zones. It killed us for my entire childhood.
I understand that it's just your preference, but the original game was designed to alternate between high-speed platforming and exploration, so evaluating an exploration stage for not being able to build as much momentum isn't quite fair. Sonic CD focused on exploration while Sonic 2 focused on speed. By Sonic 3, speed mostly took over. While his style of high-speed platforming has highly innovative, these early games that still had old-fashioned platforming shouldn't be so highly criticized because they were well made for that format. They're clearly very hard by today's standards, but it's just a product of its time.
i always pondered this myself and kept switching. i could never make up my mind about it either. but as of now i am very partial to "Hydro City" as in how you prefer it

I wish they kept the sprites rather than the “improved” 3D models. With the announcement of MvC games coming to modern consoles, I hope MvC4 is around the corner. If so, going back to the sprites would be amazing
The Sonic 3 & Knuckles footage being used on Space Ghost Coast to Coast wasn't actually used without permission. Scrapnik island's mecha sonic is such a great concept, a self aware forgotten machine that with a P.T.S.D triggering scenario, went from a peaceful robot that has abandoned violence, to a full on f*cking killing machine. (btw sigma giving tails a pat is adorable)

This game is like a satire of Mario, but at the same time, it intensifies and expands upon the standard "mario platformer" mechanics, making them more challenging...it's so inane and surreal but at the same time it rewards logical thinking and quick reflexes, and the secrets are so intricate and well hidden...I'll be playing this game when I'm in a nursing home until my thumbs fall off.
Bin also appears in an idw frame inside of an animal capsule that he was trapped in, as a painting.
Why is this the final Sonic Iceberg? I bet some of the failures like Chaotix and Boom would have even more obscure skeletons to dig up.
