Kaily Mailhot

When I became a mother it changed my entire life. It had me dreaming bigger than I ever had and I realized that if I was going to raise my children telling them to do whatever they want in this lifetime, that I had to demonstrate that to them.

So here I am. Fully retired myself at 25 years old to live out my dreams, raising my babies (never missing a moment), trying to live the most self sufficient life that we can and creating my own story through being an entrepreneur, helping others to live the life they want as well!

I am asked regularly how I live a self sufficient lifestyle, while raising my babies and being my own boss, so I thought I would bring you along on the journey. The purpose of this channel is to show you that with a small step towards a plan every single day, your life can and will be exactly how you want it to be!

Subscribe to see all the areas in our self sufficient life. From chickens to gardens, landscaping, food making, prepping and more!

Kaily, do Not let trolls discourage you whatsoever. They will comment and be negative on every video. You young lady, are doing the right things, by helping and encouraging others to live the right way...God's way. He says "Come out from among them"....meaning, we don't follow big Corporations, or the cabal-driven FDA, who allows big Corps to poison our food, mis-label food on purpose, lie and allow garbage to be fed to our children....for generations now. Do not get discouraged. You are doing mankind a wonderful service. In Europe, they water-bath everything...they don't go by an FDA standard way. That's like trusting Big Pharma, The Feds, and Big Brother...no thanks. God Bless you. I pray my Grand daughter, who has my 1st Great Grand child, has a change of heart...soon. And I pray she decides to grow and feed her family all the wonderful things God gave us for our stay on earth. You keep being you

I live much further north in MN and have never had a problem as severe as you do. I've grown Broccoli before, but have not had that many or that much damage. When I cut the Broccoli to bring in and wash it, there's very few worms and I can just fish them out in the water. What ones are left are killed in the boiling water for parboiling it. I tried that very expensive pest protection material once and about a month or so later it was all in shreds from the wind! Never again! I hope I never have as much damage or problems w/these pests as you do though.

Those squiggly things on your garlic are scapes ... which when they mature will form garlic seeds. If you dont cut off the 'scapes' your garlic wont form garlic cloves of 'any' size. They only form on 'hard neck' garlic and should be cut off as soon as possible. The fresh cut scapes are very good in salads. ;-)

In the United States, National Presto Industries, Inc. was founded in 1905 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where it designed and manufactured pressure canners (known at the time as “canner retorts”) for commercial canneries. The company, originally called Northwestern Steel and Iron Works, was a major producer of fifty-gallon capacity pressure canners. Subsequently, the company also began production of thirty-gallon canners for hotel use and soon thereafter developed ten-gallon models suitable for home canning. The company installed an aluminum foundry in 1915 for the specific purpose of manufacturing large-size pressure canners for home use.

Thanks.....BTW....those that oppose water bath canning for potatoes, ignore the fact that several generations used this method, without problems. This is how European countries can.....for the most part. They do not have access to pressure. canners. The most important thing is to clean everything well. Sanitize jars and lids. Cut out bad spots. Water bath for your recommended time. Well done. You can water bath can green beans as well. Using the proper ratio of vinegar and water inside of the jar.

You should air layer your trees. The success rate is much higher..80-90%. You can actually watch their root growth while it’s still be supported by the mother tree. The air layer will be an exact clone of the mother tree and will take 1-2 years to fruit. After it roots & gets cut off from the mother tree (6-8 weeks), plant it but cut off any flowers its first year so it focuses on building a strong root system in the ground. You can find many videos on KZread, but here’s a video short so you understand the basic process.

Hmm I recently looked into this to try with my fruit trees. All the advice I saw was to keep the cuttings between 4-8 inches long at most. I think this is because the plant has to use it's energy to grow roots rather than sustaining a big long branch. That being said, I'm pretty sure I already killed my cuttings by over watering. So. What do I know lol. I'd be curious to know how yours do. Good luck!

Hun keep making videos. Not everyone can afford a canner. Not everyone can buy a new lid every jar. My thinking is...with a new lid every jar. I am paying about .50 each jar plus the cost of the food in it. If i can buy a can of it for close to that. I would just by the grocery store version. But if im trying to presrve my garden harvest. I will can or freeze or use an used commerical jar with a lug lid. These people act like we wont see the top unpopped. If its contaminated that is a major flag right?

Answer: before the 2 piece flats and rings, there were zinc lids requiring a rubber ring. Lid on just tight enough to keep water out during processing. They let the jars rest about 30 seconds then tighten the lids. The reason for the “rest” was to let the last of pressurized air to escape. The same for the glass lid, rubber ring with the bail wire closure. My mom used both types of jar lids. Meaning: by the time you got the last jar out of the boiling water, it was time to tighten the lid, or adjust the bail to closed position. Water bathed everything. Died from doctor error at age of 97. I think the new “tattler lids” operate on the same principle. All 3 ways the lids and rubber and lids can be used many times before the rubber rings need to be replaced. Correct me if I’m wrong about this. I grew up helping mom do her canning. I’m still here at 75 yrs😊
