Judging by some of the comments here, I think the satirical tone of this song has sailed majestically right over some people's heads. I suppose if you have a pretty tune and a nice delivery you could make anything sound romantic - also see 'You're Gorgeous' by Baby Bird.

Absolutely love The Beautiful South. Paul Heaton is such a great songwriter. His set at Glastonbury was Fantastic. It would be a dream come true if The Beautiful South got back together again
