I'm Japanese, and this was one of the first songs I remember listening on the radio when my family moved to England on 1995 because of my father's job. At that time I was able to understand only about half of the lyrics, but I still loved the atmosphere of this song. It also took me few years to know that the one playing on radio and TV was the censored version lyrics.

Although Oasis was my favourite of the 90s There's certain songs from both sides of the pond as you say ' stinks of the 90's where even in Britain artists like Alanis Morissette felt like they were part of our 90s culture as well as America
@mauricebrocklehurst2358
Жыл бұрын
Yeah the good old days with British bands like beautiful south, Oasis, Blur and even after Freddie Mercury's death Queen were still hitting the charts. Then you've got the American artist like Aerosmith, guns n roses, Bon Jovi and meatloaf hitting the charts with I'd do anything for love getting to number one in America and Britain where it spent 7 weeks at number one and 19 weeks in the charts and other hits

Everything, that The Beautiful South touches, become beautiful.

Think of you with pipe and slippers Think of her in bed Laying there just watching telly Think of me instead I'll never grow so old and flabby That could never be Don't marry her, have me And your love light shines like cardboard But your work shoes are glistening She's a PhD in "I told you so" You've a knighthood in "I'm not listening" She'll grab your sweaty bollocks Then slowly raise her knee Don't marry her, have me And the Sunday sun shines down on San Francisco Bay And you realise you can't make it anyway You have to wash the car Take the kiddies to the park Don't marry her, have me Those lovely Sunday mornings With breakfast brought in bed Those blackbirds look like knitting needles Trying to peck your head Those birds will peck your soul out And throw away the key Don't marry her, have me And the kitchen's always tidy And the bathroom's always clean She's a diploma in "just hiding things" You've a first in "low esteem" When your socks smell of angels But your life smells of Brie Don't marry her, have me And the Sunday sun shines down on San Francisco Bay And you realise you can't make it anyway You have to wash the car Take the kiddies to the park Don't marry her, have me And the Sunday sun shines down on San Francisco bay And you realise you can't make it anyway You have to wash the car Take the kiddies to the park Don't marry her, have me

Sehr schöner Song zum relaxen. .
My dad used to play this song a lot when I was a child but the CD version was slightly different. Instead of singing "Don't merry her, have me" she sang "Don't merry her, f**k me". Ironically no one every realized she sang that because we all thought she said "but" instead of "f**k" until I became of age and started listening to this and my dad was actually kinda shocked xD
Haha I remember the shock of buying the album and hearing the other version xD
