My experience with any paint can opening a new can take a center punch and punch holes all in the groove where the paint lid sits. clean the surface where the lid goes before you store the paint then put the lid on

So the tins are really por, they don't make tins in the same way. I had a similar thing happen to a paint tin the edge is singley rolled over not double like they used to be, you end up levering the edge of the tin instead of the lid. So we don't get see how to use Por 15

CLEAN OUT THE CHANNEL before putting the lid back on and i assure you, you will not have this problem. I noticed after you finally got the lid off that the channel was full of black paint - that is why it stuck. Clean it with a dry paper towel, but clean it thoroughly and it will not stick.

Every seatbox I have removed has been a nasty job. Those 7/16 set screws corrode over time and then where the seatbox is fitted to the sills is also bad to do. That being said, your looks easy compared to ex farm Land Rover's!

I’m enjoying the restoration series. I have a1966 S2A 88” hard top, so it’s helpful seeing someone else’s tips and techniques. As mine is running, it is more of a rolling restoration. It is like eating an elephant; one bite at a time. I’m trying to put parts on as they come in, instead of just ordering a bunch of parts and having them pile up. My brother started with a really nice Corvette, then took it apart and started ordering parts. It hasn’t run in 4 years now.🤦🏼‍♂️

To use this product would it be okay to just remove loose rust to the best you can clean the area down with a degreaser or brake cleaner than use this paint? As some videos say you need like 3 other products, a degreaser then a zinc finish coat then the paint then a UV protection layer 😅

This video is 3 years old as I just find it. Looks great! What year is your Landy? I recently purchased a 1966 S2A 88”. It was still in daily use on a cattle ranch in central California. I drove it the 85 miles home. It runs and drives great, and is mostly original and virtually rust free but could use some TLC. I will be enjoying your videos as I take on my own project. Cheers.

Por15 shouldn’t be painted over rust scale. Most people don’t know the difference between bare metal and the surface of rust scale. You can wire wheel rust scale and have it get shiny just like bare metal. It’s good to use a rust dissolver like the rust oleum rust jelly to show you what is bare metal and what is scale. The scale will turn a different color. If you are able to. Hitting it with a heat gun or torch will cause the metal to expand and the scale will pop off. If you get the scale off and apply the product. It will last as long as it isn’t an environment where impacts from rocks and pebbles can break the surface. Once the integrity of the surface has been lost, the paint can fail. But if it isn’t disturbed. Oh boy. This stuff will last forever. No joke.

If you place a piece of wax paper between the lid and can before you cap it up, it will prevent the cap from sticking to the top of the can, as shown @1:11...

Pro tip: after rolling on the paint wait for it to set a bit - then go over with roller even so slightly to "crack up" the bubbles - they will now smoothen out to a good surface.

I always remove lid when I buy a new tin of this product and drill two small holes, one acts as a breather and the other as a pouring hole, when finished just put some insulation tape over the holes till next use, as long as holes are sealed with tape it lasts for ages.

Pot 15 is, in my experience, and by many KZread shoot outs, far and away the best rust treatment and preventative on the market. Yes you have to use a ladle to get the product out because you can’t.get the lid back off if you get it on the rim, but that’s the price you pay for excellence. My 175 Toyota fj 40 is held together with this magic product.

I notice you have a military grill for vehicles with an oil cooler, ie bonnet release is via catches on the wings as opposed to through the hole in the grill. It doesn’t look like you have an oil cooler, I do and I am looking for one of those grills. I have an original one freshly galvanised with the hole for the standard bonnet release. Wondering if you might be interested in a swap? Let me know if so and I will send you a couple of photos. Marc

Is the toilet roll between the seats for when you come to test the brakes? (speaking as a Series 2a owner!) 😂

  • @tomw7334

Is the distributor definitely seated correctly and engaged? I had a similar issue on my Series 2A - it turned out I had the wrong distributor base plate for my engine - there's a taller one and shorter one, so even though the distributor was bolted down, it wasn't actually engaging the drive gear below, and the engine wouldn't fire.
