We tried the cheap kitchen faucet route and repalced it a year later with a Kohler. I had no idea how much better it functioned and also looks better.

I have a compost container on my counter. It’s hideous and I hate it. LOL But, it MUST go out every single day and I don’t trust that will happen if I can’t see it. It’s just a small plastic tote that’s super easy to clean. I don’t like having a lid on it because moisture builds up and it’s gross. If I didn’t have a garden and chickens I probably wouldn’t bother. Maybe I can make a decorative container to set the plastic one in. That might make it not as ugly. Imma try that! 😅

Oh please, this use to be typical tom(my) boy or bachelor pad homes. Women use to hate it...hence how man caves came about sith women reducing a man to a single room that he fashioned himself.

THis is typical (bachelor or if too young to be called that Tom(my) Boy) men decor and women use to complain about it. Now it has a new name, so its something women bandwagon on. Wild.

The triangle has been re-incorporated because people had trouble using their kitchen because of the many steps to get from point a to b. Steps from the stove, with a hot heavy pot, to deposit in the sink should not be more than 4'.

Only disagreement, here.. but appliances that are made to accept custom paneling can be anywhere from 2x to 5x the price.. and they are all too expensive! We did our entire new kitchen appliances for less than $6K cost.. from a standard "big box" store.. all the design center appliances were stratospheric in price. Even putting custom panels over your existing appliances isn't a cheap venture - for most folks. We DO agree with your assertion that having overhead cabinets is a VERY smart idea.. OK, I need a step stool.. so what? Thanks for the video.

Having all drawers in kitchen looks very tacky as if you have tool chest for a kitchen. They make heavy duty slide outs that can be either mulit-tiered or just a sliding deck for the lower cabinets which actually make them more usable than drawers as you retain the height of the cabinet which you don’t get with drawers.

I've always used Zinsser BIN (red can, shellac, alcohol based) and it is the best, but even it will have issues with glossy surfaces at times. I've always scuff sanded first and never had issues with adhesion. Just a very light sand to break the sheen and takes just a few more seconds in prep. It also tends to help reduce "puddling" that may form with primers over glossy surfaces (as seen at 3:05)... that minor texture that develops.

Hey, in your Ikea video you talk about down pillows. Could you please look into the cruelty involved in down and select down alternatives and please don't recommend to people to buy down down anything. Nothing nothing down. Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you Coast for animals too. Thank you!

Compost in the freezer would be a problem, it takes up valuable freezer space and it makes it hard to get to. An easily accessible stainless steel compost container with a carbon filter to eliminate odor provides acceptable form and function.

I absolutely love your videos and am in the process of figuring out what colors I want to paint each room since all the walls were gray when we moved in. I wanted to add some wallpaper for visual interest in lieu of a lot of art that will put holes in my walls. I’m a little frustrated with all the zillions of patterns I’m seeing on line. Should I use a small busy pattern in a large room, or a large pattern with a lot of blank spaces between the visual elements? What about for a small room? Do you even recommend any wallpaper?

I've noticed most people dont clean out the cabinet they toss their trash in. So food falls to the side or drips on something, I personally find it terribly unsanitary to store trash in a cabinet.

You're the best! I am so glad i found your videos! I have a question about metals. I have a stainless steel sink and Cafe range. What metal sink faucet metal should I avoid? I know this might be a hard thing to answer considering you don tknow what the rest of my kitchen looks like. If you get around to my question, thank you for your time :D

  • @PoshPennies

thanks for watching! if your sink and range are both stainless steel then avoid polished nickel (will clash). but you could definitely go brass, black or chrome (depending on the other finishes in your kitch) ⭐

The white kuggis are my invisible boxes in the bathroom. They're awesome under the sink storage. Between the white sink and crappy vanity, they visually disappear, which helps make that a calm zone. They're perfect for storing things like extra toothpaste & brushes with all their super loud packaging. Use them in the kitchen too. & it's so easy to dust them or wash them. I have one ikea cushion & one sanela cover of almost every color. The covers are sturdy, resistant to use, feel nice, don't get too hot even in nice weather, & wash easily. The shelf insterts are awesome. I gained so much space in my tiny kitchen as well as my plants area. The door hanger is awesome. Alongside some other smaller shaped hooks, I hanged them on my closet doors. They saved me from the chair of doom, where clothes accumulated alongside my stress level. Now I have a place to hang my clothes when I get back tired. & since it's bad for the door hinges to leave things hanging, I clean daily what needs to go to the wash or closet. No pile to be seen. My rule is one item by hook. Easy use, no over accumulation. Lazy proof.

Garbage only looks bad if it is overflowing. That's why your gross examples were of bins overflowing. It's worse to have overflowing tiny bins under the sink where trash will be lost to the unreachable areas of the cupboard.

If anyone's concerned about throwing linens away, please take your unwanted linens to your local animal shelter. They go through linens quickly and are always grateful to get more. Ask about any rules, too. I found out that my local shelter didn't take fitted sheets... so I cut out the elastic.
