Horizon Star Films? Because when waiting by a railway the first thing that lets you know a train is coming is the star on the horizon of the locomotive head lamp, and the sound of the whistle or horn.
I have been taking pictures of trains since 1965. In fact, a picture I took that year, when I was thirteen years old, at Woolloongabba Brisbane, was published in 'Australian Railway History' in August 2004.

Cheers thank you for posting. Planning to visit Naradhan sometime this year

We should be following what Victoria has been doing. V/Line operates the country's best rail (and bus) network thanks to modern comfortable rolling stock (no high-back seating crap) that operates at European level frequencies. New South Wales is a laughing stock in many aspects of this nation, and by far the worst is their rail system.
you're lying that is not 2009, instead it's 2010
you are right
the time when b2s were on here and when larundel was still shrouded by trees
Thanks for post !
Without reading the comments, I thought the same thing, what a great train driver
obere Augartenstraße lol
Just noticed the standing water on the tracks 1:08, 1:39
Nice video for this Tram video
Great videos
Great Trams video
Awesome video for this tram video
There are still tram lines visible at Carina. Local folklore was that they were not taken up so Mayor Clem Jones, whose house overlooked said lines, could view them! The Paddington Depot fire in 1964(?) was the start of the end for the trams. There’s ‘thought’ that it was arson, allegedly.
I loved the trams! Lived on the Dutton Park line, at a ‘Section’, which meant the tram HAD to stop even if there was nobody alighting from it! I’d catch a New Farm Ferry one of a morning to go to school, & tram stopped at its’ gate. So sad they’re gone. Hate the bus. When working, used to drive to Cannon Hill Rly Stn, much better by train, than horrible bus!
Yes, my late Nanna took me to see a train arrive from Brisbane at Coolangatta Stn. I loved the trains!
Very wise words spoken!
live near grafton i loved the old xpt
❤️👍👍👍👍🦘🇦🇺
Nice Nice!
I love the ALCo's, a trio of class 48's seems like an appropriate farewell!
DARRENR 🏠 have OK yes
sad how in 2023 that 120km/h limit is still on that line..... @artc
DARRENR 🏠 have OK yes
good footage
The local store owner at Butcher was tragically killed while unloading a rail truck years ago
I wish we had trams here in Brisbane city Australia 🇦🇺
what happens if someone drops it between the platform and the loco???
At this speed they would have been unlikely to drop it, but if they did I guess the train would have had to stop and the shunter would have had to pick it up and hand it to the driver. On main lines where trains would be moving at speed a dropped staff would have been more of a problem.
the gold mine is not in the middle of the lake-tell the truth-its on the western edge and only occupies around 500 hectares on the edge of the lake which is currently 40km long and up to 6metres deep
I said Lake Cowal is a conservation area, a wetlands area; I did not say that the mine was in the middle of the lake, but in the middle of the area, and it is true that members of the Wiradjuri people protested against the siting of the mine in the middle of one of their most important places of cultural significance. The Macquarie Dictionary defines a cowal as a small swampy depression, from a Kamilaroi word for a gully.
The plains are dotted with hundreds of cowals.
For footage over a decade old at time of posting this comment, the quality is so clear! Still holds up well into the future.
Yes, the old miniDV tapes worked well with an HD camera. Thanks for commenting.
Good footage mate ;-)
Wonderful work there Anthony, Very rare to see the Griffith Xplorer go up to Sydney alone but as it does run quite late somtimes it makes sense however it would muddle up the time table a bit especially up in the southern highlands with the endeavours running every hour or so, thanks for sharing Anthony love the video must say the good old country link blue and white livery looks good
Amazing video there Anthony been looking through your channel I’ve been really enjoying some of your videos, I really like this video to as I can see one of the last trains to Lake Cowal around the Burcher area great video. Ted
Thanks, Ted
Wonderful work there Anthony, I recently took the Griffith xplorer up to Griffith from Bowral must say I loved the trip great scenery and more, I love the Riverina too it’s probably my favourite place in Australia I love the trip mainly because I could more deeply explore the Railways of the Riverina , However I do go up to the Riverina every know and then by car, I also loved the song great work. Ted
Cool thanks mate
👍
It would be good to be able to have a little rail cart to do a rail trip on these old branch lines even as a weekend trip. There and back
Yes, it would. However I doubt you would be given the go-ahead officially and you’d be easy to notice. Plus, the state of the track is not conducive to safe travel. There must be some somewhere.
@@horizonstaraus the amount of trees that are on the line will stop you from going further than wyrra and there is Broken bridge just before wyrra on the gaggies creek
"Chasing the line". A great little video. It reminded me of those films where they go chasing a " twister". Driving around not knowing where you're going to drive next... I liked the atmospherics of the clouds and the rain on the windscreen. One of your best, Tony. A cut above those tram depots... Geoff 😊
It must be our poor articulation but we were ‘line tracing’, though ‘chasing’ is good. Thanks for your positive comment. I’ll convert you to tram and loco (if not bus) depots yet!
@@horizonstaraus No, not your poor articulation. Just my poor recall. Maybe you should consider writing a piece "The Joy of Tram Depots"? After all, if you can find joy in a tram depot you should be able to find joy pretty well anywhere...
....🤨😶😶😶 the fuc-

Good one, thanks.
Thanks!
Lovely song!
Thanks!
Nice video. Note the XPT is in its prime about 4 years after the new VP185 engines were installed (in 2000) ..... no visible smoke & great sound. The VP185 engines were a considerable improvement on the original rather smokey `Valenta' engines regarding Diesel & lubirication oil emissions; also they offer better fuel economy and are about one Tonne lighter per engine.
Thanks for the info!
Not sure if you’ll read this Anthony but your Zürich videos from 2009 really take me back to when we lived in the city in 2009-2010. We used to get either tram 9 or 14 back to our apartment in Wiedikon and, watching these routes, I can trace my walks into the city centre. I loved our time in Zürich and, as a form of nostalgia, I’ve been watching your videos ever since you put them on KZread!
Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying nostalgic tram rides, Mark. I’ve only been there twice. Switzerland is incredibly picturesque and covered in trams, trolleybuses and trains.
5:10 Without the colon between the second and third numerals, instead reading as 3 minutes past 2 (14:03), it reads as 1 thousand 4 hundred and 3.
I’m using military time. It’s easier not having to type colons.
Curious about how much the line has degraded since this was uploaded. Also, no infastructure of days gone by remain?
All of the line is there. It’s very overgrown at burcher, Wamboyne, corringle. Lake cowal, clear ridge and wyrra. The railway had a bridge and every rail is still there. There are remains of loadings banks at every listed location burcher, Wamboyne, lake cowal, clear ridge but not wyrra the turntable at burcher upyard can still be moved! The signal is still at burcher yard. Some of the rails in some areas are thinner than other because of rust, some have cracks because of rust and heat.
Interesting comments, thanks. You’ve obviously been out there much more recently than I.
I probably found this video in the weirdest way I found it on Google Also I’m so HAPPY you made this 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you like it!
Thanks for the memories I drove those motors for years I liked them
👍
