Imagine how effective these will be once we figure out a good way to design electronics without a large amount of metal. Carbon nanotubes are conductive and incredibly lightweight, spintronic logic could dramatically reduce power draw, possible improvements in battery technology could make their energy density even larger. Will they be practical? No clue. Will they be awesome? Most definitely.

Desalination is unattractive to people who would use water scarcity (crisis) for social engineering. The "it's too expensive" argument is aimed at a specific mentality just like the death penalty being made "too expensive" aims at a certain mentality. So, it's great that technologies emerge which thwart that vector. They're going to fight to make it too ___ to implement.

Sound logic is not about likes or hype mate. "Too last century" is an error in logical intelligence and a logical falicy of "Appeal to Emotion". Have a look at the most efficient aircraft propellers of twin contra rotating high activity ratio propellers. Twin contra rotating high activity ratio propellers are state-of-the-art in terms of efficiency. Further there is Zero published measure of data mean-time-between-fails for any of the components on this electrical experimental vehicle you are enthusiastic about. By the way electrical vehicles are photo-electro-magnetic-biochemical coffins on wheels for the human condition or coffins with propellers/rotors/spinning arrays for the human condition. I know from experience. Further electric Lithium-Ion batteries at collisally environmentally unsustainable in their whole of lifecycle application just like carbon graphite windmill blades and un-recyclable solar panels so please transcend the indoctrination that electrical lithium ion batteries are the answer because they are absolutely not the answer and never have been. In the current state of the game...? Cycloidal Propellers probably won't provide much for aircraft; however, that is only in the current state of the game. If, hypothetically, you have a different vehicle that lifts in a different manner than by pushing air down... these might play a much, much larger role. We're not there yet. Many parts for such a vehicle exist, but we're either missing a few pieces, or they haven't come together just yet

And what about the leakage of H2, during production, transport, storage and use? Hydrogen has an effect on Methane in the atmosphere, preventing it from braking down. Methane is 11 x worse for climate warming than CO2.

Personally, I want to see the Beta Eye without the solar panel, and instead just use it as a laser beam. }: ) More seriously, specially-shaped mirrors that will redirect the beam from the sphere towards the same location wherever the beam lands on the mirror would remove the need for moving parts, but wouldn't handle the size issue. The multi-focal lens is probably the best bet. Honestly, though, I just don't see solar power being terribly efficient until we figure out how to transport it from orbit. Build the power generator up above the atmosphere, and we're getting much more efficient.
