Since I use Linux I get questions about it. Here's a FAQ:

Q: What Distro do you use?
A: kubuntu, whatever the newest LTS is.

Q: What DE do you use?
A: KDE Plasma 5

Q: Why don't you use Arch, Gentoo, slackware, etc
A: Ubuntu "Just Works" for me.

Some other info about how I make videos:
Camera: Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k
Editing Software: Davinci Resolve (Yes, I edit in Linux as well)

I'm not a fan of piracy. But if a game is, for all intents and purposes, otherwise unplayable. And the developers/rights holders are not otherwise supporting a way to purchase and play it, I have very little sympathy for the rights holders to complain. Either they're leaving money on the table, or the pirate scene for their game is so boutique that there was no money to be actually be made, and thus no loss of profits.

Ubisoft has Modern Day DRM by making their games broken on launch and the micro transaction which are connected to the internet to make it playable. XP Boost, and Maps without make the game unplayable.

I think it's terribly sad when a Studio has worked hours if not days on a multiplayer mode/Game, which in turn creates a robust Community. And a couple of year later the game/Mode is shut down, whereupon that game/Mode get lost to time with zero possible for anyone to play it again.

Piracy is the only way to preserve games, remember to support and vote with wallet, do not buy what u don't agree with, pirate it.

I really hate the world of video games now. It’s full of corporations involved in blatant fraud/scammy behavior and rife with psychologically manipulative political garbage and broken content. Unless it’s FromSoftware or a company I adamantly trust, I’ll just pirate it or stick with emulation.

Hi Shelby, it's Kevin. Just a couple of things about the X9DRH I sent you: 1. For the v2 Xeon's you need BIOS v3.00 or newer (motherboard should have it due to being manufactured in 2018). 2. So if you install the v2's and you get a blank screen, you will need to install the Sandy Bridge Xeon's you have and flash the to latest BIOS. 3. I ordered a couple of Supermicro Heatsinks from eBay shipped directly to you. Part# SNK-P0050AP4. These come with the narrow ILMs and are the correct heatsinks for this motherboard. 4. I believe this motherboard is either new or openbox, so it hasn't been tested yet. Thanks!

Is the Xeon 2690 good enough for modern gaming?

  • @KittyKatKya
    @KittyKatKyaСағат бұрын

@@LagrangePoint0 Regardless of whether you mean the 2690 Shelby already had or the 2690 v2s sent in this video, you/someone would be FAR better served by even mid-lower end consumer grade CPUs from the several generations from Intel or AMD. Even today, games are rarely going to be making use of more than a few cores at any given time so the multitude of extra cores (8c16t for the "v1", 10c20t for v2) will go mostly unused. Even ignoring that, the architecture these are built on (Sandy and Ivy Bridge respectively) is 12+ years old at this point and are going to have horrid IPC (how much they can do in terms of "doing work"/intelligently or efficiently doing work) versus current offerings, as well as not being able to clock super high and while sucking back loads of power to do so. Aside from having the bits laying around and geeeenerally not caring about how much power you're burning, even for the sorts of tasks these would have been used for when they were still current, keeping them in service for actual day to day usage is really hard to justify; At least aside from the always present "I just think they're neat" factor. I say this as someone typing on a 3770k (consumer Ivy) system, with a dual 2667v2 workstation to toy around with in the attic.

Shoutout to Capcom for their mobile game Mega Man X Dive which ran on free-to-play and when they eventually shut down, they rereleased it as a separate paid purchase that runs entirely offline. It is the best way to save it? Probably not at all, but its an effort that was made at all and at this point, its more than a lot of others are doing.

NFTs were invented to solve this problem and prevent this from happening in the future. They're not supposed to cost money. They're supposed to permanently verify ownership in a decentralized manner. Then these monkey idiots ruined the plan and every one of us is back to being screwed by corpotrash without any hope of resolution on the horizon. We had the opportunity to reclaim power, and instead we thrust it back into the hands of those who abuse it. We violently defend the cash-grabbers in one of the most ironic events in gaming history. This sucks. You have no idea what we all lost because our brains were corrupted by propaganda. The campaign was so effective that most of us are still enraged by the idea of getting a free DRM solution that's trustless and completely decentralized. We'd rather be stuck with buying games and cosmetics and never ever being able to actually own them, apparently.

Back in the day, I worked at a music store in the era when pirated MP3 downloading was rampant but iTunes and streaming platforms like Spotify didn't exist. We'd have customers come in all the time saying the CDs they bought didn't work. Turns out the DRM on the CDs (that pirates easily sidestepped) prevented people from using them on certain players, mostly commonly car based ones. The only people DRM actually punished were the people who paid real money for their physical product.

@14:35 This is exactly how I feel. I don't understand how companies think that they can release collector's editions of games without a disc - this is what really matters to collector's, not all of the extra crap that they shove in the box!.. Without the disc, the collection feels like a lie sitting on your shelf!

There are upgrades available for both of these games on the Internet that were programmed by one of the original coders, and the changes made make these games spectacular; but, the upgrades are geared towards more modern systems like Windows XP, and Windows 7.

It's two sided, one side is an exposed blade while the other is a hook like a safety knife. I can cut the tape over the folded flaps on the ends with the normal blade but then use the hook to not have the knife protrude into the box and possibly damage the item.
