    The FM was my first good camera - bought new in 1980. That camera went everywhere with me: mountains in the US and S America; many hikes, many places. I loved that camera. I eventually traded it away for something else. Great camera, though.

  • @3sixty2degres
    @3sixty2degres3 ай бұрын

    Yes well the Q is a great option and prices have gone down since the q3. From Q to Q2 is really not a good idea but from Q to Q3 the difference is big enough but for the purpose of the Q series, the Q is perfect. In my opinion. Of course if your coming from mini computers with lenses such as Sony or canon it does take aehile to adapt to the lack of features, all you can do with this is take great photographs

    I much prefer the American way of just pacing up, going somewhere new and starting all over, to the British, French and Canadian, mix of those rwo I guess, that they destroy the old only to build what they think is new. I am British BTW, so no axe to grind as they say. Good photography, sir.

    @@3sixty2degres Hehe sitting here with my “new” Q and wondering where the hell are alle the buttons and switcharoos Im used to on Fuji. Then I remember I used to forget half of them.. No doubt this Q simplicity takes a bit to get used to (that darn non-programable red film button irritates me just saying). Have ordered a couple of spare batteries, really looking forward to take it for a prolonged spin.

    m4 made in Canada? what the fuck? Sorry i live near germany and it was so fucking funny to hear m4 from Canada

  • @3sixty2degres
    @3sixty2degres5 ай бұрын

    The costs of export was very high at that time, some leica lenses were made in a factory in Midland Ontario where they made the Leica m4 Leica m4-2 and the M4-p when it was discontinued in Germany, along with lenses. The 35mm f/2 summicron was designed in that factory. That went on til 1990 when the head of elc Walter Kluck who had brought over the equipment to manufacture lenses and cameras retired. By the time of the m6 in 1990 it went back to Germany

  • @3sixty2degres

    You can still find some leica lenses on ebay with Canada written on them and because it is canadian made, some purists undermine them so they are less expensive for the same thing.

    Really good video and I'm glad to see some photos used in the comparison. Last summer I was really lucky and got a working Rolleicord for $100., and on Saturday of this week I bought a Yashicaflex S for $150. The Rollei was a bit rough but the Yashicaflex is almost mint. I've got some Rollei black & white negatives and this week I'm planning to shoot with the Yashicaflex and make a similar comparison.

    If your gas are similar to mine, you will stumble upon a yashica mat 124g too ahhaha I ended up retiring the yashicaflex although in good condition because I never once got 12 shots out of it. Only 8-9 each time. Probably my bad cause it doesn’t have lock or any type of protection against accidental shots. But the mat and the rolleicord I always get all 12.

    My Q-P has been with me now for 5 yrs. 28 mm has its limitations (at 24MP) but the quality of this lens is unbelievable! I have some serious GFX gear, for work, but for everything else my Q takes the biscuit. I can’t sum it up any better than that!

    I bought my Leica Q in 2016. it is the first digital camera that I had for that long. It is still a very competitive camera, especially when it comes to image quality. I will never trade it in. I would add a monochrom to it though. :-) btw Leica recommends to disable image stabilisation, as it may impact the quality of the image being taken.

    You said "Burst Mode." No. The shutter setting is "Bulb." Bulb means when the shutter release is pressed the shutter stays open until you take your hand off the release. Some of these cameras you could lock the shutter release while it is on bulb or you could use a locking cable release. Bulb is just one exposure. Burst mode is a modern term. Burst mode is used in modern digital cameras where you have several exposures made in quick succession. It has nothing to do with bulb. Bulb is also used in modern digital cameras besides burst capture. Whoever is new to film photography be careful about many of these You Tube videos. The people that may be producing these videos are either new to photography themselves or just have not learned enough yet to speak with any kind of authority, but some are very good out there too. Be careful.

    Yes I know as the comments below I noticed it only after online that I said burst, after watching it a few days later. I should correct it or try to type something over it using the yt tools. That way I won’t get the same comment over and over.

    Just picked up my Q a few weeks back. At first I loved the simplicity and I still do. What surprised me was the utility lurking just beneath the surface! I set my function button to swap profiles. So I can go from a fully manual and zone focused street machine .. straight over to an auto ISO minimum shutter speed 1/500 touch for focus/trigger setup. One perfect for never missing at F8/F11 with zone focus, and another for rarely missing with family and portraits. Simply not possible with other systems. And the colors SOOC are already just 🤌🤌

    Yes I hear you about the Q. It’s still great after 8 years I love mine and the Q2 was of no interest for me I must say the Q3 gets me curious. But again I shoot many film so all the features of newer cameras I won’t need so it would just be GAS. I have to admit though I just bought a Nikon FM for film cause I miss too many shots with my M4. And it’s not the camera it’s me I know. But I guess I don’t see the point in having leica camera if not to use leica glass. As good as others can be…

    Jean-Francois, thank you for another fun and exciting view of 120 film photography. I started on a 35mm Yashica camera in the 1980's. I did not pursue my hobby until about 20 years later when digital photography became affordable. I have recently switched back to film. I recently purchased a Rolleicord 4 on Mercari for about $100 USD. It was untested but I took a chance. Luckily, it was operational. I discovered your "how to load" video here on KZread and was off to the races. I went ahead and ordered a Yashica Mat EM from eBay for about the same price and am waiting for it to arrive any minute. I purchased a 35mm adapter for the sole purpose of testing the camera. I do not want to waste my 120 film. My next decision is to buy the Ars Imago 120 film adapter, but first things first. All the best to you and thanks!
