I'm imagining that 'nested' layers of inflatable bladders or envelopes would work well for a Whipple Shield, and I'd like to think a great big translucent inflatable sphere would be great for Ender's Game style flying and gaming

Considering SpaceX progress they have about 10yrs to finish the design. Knowing spaceX i hardly doubt this sleek suit is capable of passing required tests. I hope people set to test them have seen the test data and footage themselves and were not convinced by management 😅

SpaceX most probably won't make it to the moon in two years. All that refuelling stuff etc. has to be developed and applied to the moon mission, all in two years? And it will take at least that long for Starship to be nailed (just that alone). What are they thinking? 😅

In most ways Russia WAS ahead of us in the space race. They were the first at many many things.

I really admire their determination and perseverance. I can also imagine some top Russian dude telling the engineers to” make it work “ 😊 I’m sure I saw a documentary where a Russian engineer explained that they had built a pressure chamber to test the strength of the probes in. And that one day after testing a probe they opened the door and the probe had melted

In interesting summary of the Soviet program. I just wish that documentaries made about non-American contributions to space exploration not get those way too common jabbing, belittling and cheap jokes which become for some channels SO normal that they might not be even aware of doing this truly obnoxious juvenile attitude which I am used to for decades and never ever appreciated. Those few appeasing words at the end feel like some lame, half baked excuse were I think it would be simply better if they drop that aloof attitude in the first place. Besides that, well researched video and informative, thanks.

No actually the Russians won the space race, look up almaz it was advanced spy station equipped with a 40 mm cannon that they actually fired the Soviet Union is the only nation to have ever fired a gun in space! Keep in mind both the American and Soviet civilian space programs was running blocker for the real space programs which was spying. Right here on you tube you can watch a documentary on the American and Soviet space spy programs. The Soviet Union won like it or not. To find documentary search for almaz.
