    I picked this up on the big sale and while I love the end product with my full frame prime lens set, the limited 16:9 was by far what flabbergasted me the most about this camera. What an unnecessary omission that greatly inconveniences me on a regular basis. I do not understand why they would choose to limit it in this way when a simple firmware update can provide 16:9 at every major resolution.

    I like your attitude! No bs talk. Honest and transparent. Excellent review btw. You're absolutely correct, it's not the camera, it's the skill of the one whose hands it's in that matters. A better frying pan won't make you a better cook. This principle goes with any form of art. Werner Herzog said the same thing... watch good movies! Study the greats. That's what makes a good cinematographer. Not the camera just by itself. Greetings from Melbourne!

    Both look great. In fact, most cameras look great at this point. The Ursa has more dynamic range, but after matching shots, the difference was extremely negligible. Cameras don't matter as much as they did 10 years ago. They all have slightly different flavors, and the images become extremely subjective. All that really matters now is what you put in front of the camera. On second thought... That's all that has ever really mattered.

I have a Moza gimble which works fine but leery with the slypod generations seeing the issues. Can I inquire what the weight was that you put on the slypod when it wobbled. I am sure you stayed within the stated specs but just curious. I liked the 6kPro more (I didn't even try to guess which was which). I ended up buying the 6kPro 6 weeks ago and have been very happy with its image and its flexibility (I would have gotten the 6k Full Frame but the lack of Internal NDs, Pro Res, and High FPS were deal breakers). All that said, I do wish they'd used a slightly larger "Super 35mm" sensor. the 25mm sensor of the G2 gives just a bit more breathing room than the 23mm one of the 6kPro. I understand they were using a pre-existing Sony sensor here (and Sony's APS-C is also 23mm) but, as small as that 9% extra crop may seem, it does make a difference. It means I now always want to carry a Tokina 11-20mm ultra wide with me when I'm shooting. It's not the end of the world but it would have been a nice convenience. I really hope that, if Blackmagic makes another Super-35mm camera, they go with a 27mm sensor like the Red Komodo or Ursa Mini 12k. Both provide a 17% increase in field of view while still covering all Super 35mm lenses. I really think it's the sweet spot for people who might want to stick with he Super 35 format because of all those great lenses BUT want as much FoV and DoF as possible.

    I was a customer of MPB (Europe) since 2021 and had several dealings with them, buying a load of stuff, with no hassle. However, since the start of this year, they've started to drop the ball. Gear over-rated (a well-used piece junk that was described as 'good'), faulty camera (sticking shutter) and losing a part of my order (sheer incompetence). My latest camera from them has had two replacments and finally I ended up with a camera I am happy with, but still an incomplete order. I'm seriously wondering if I'll do business with them ever again.

  • @CINENIMUS
    @CINENIMUS12 күн бұрын

    no no problem at all but you need to put in the exact focal lengths in metadata (ideally) before you hit the record button so say you shoot at 17mm then you put that in and if you cant zoom in as the data will need to be re-adjusted as you don't have electronic contacts so if you DO want gyros' the canon is a better choice

    Honestly it’s mindblowing to me that nobody really talks about this. Every single Sony camera I’ve used except the Venice has this problem with hard contrast edges. FX6/FX3/a7sIII/a7sII/FS7/FX9… yet they have the biggest fanboy community and nobody seems to care. This stuff can make a shot absolutely unusable and there’s no way to fix it in post. The thing is, I really want to love Sony cameras, the FX6 is such a joy to use with its lightweight boxy body and phenomenal internal NDs… but the fact that this could happen anytime makes me so nervous…

    I've always had a hard time telling which cameras are "better" in any given head to head, especially since most Blackmagic cameras share the same basic color science. That said there are definitely differences and some may prefer the look of one over the other under the same settings. The 2 extra stops of dynamic range are a bonus, but the footage you posted yesterday at high frame rates demonstrates clearly one of the biggest advantages. When you factor in the NDs, better screen and pro level connectivity and it really comes across as a bargain.
