nice!
Cheers!
I found with the running sinker and using the FG Knot, that the sinker runs past the knot and you can’t get it back over. So instead of tying a granny knot in the leader , I put on the smallest little ball sinker that can just fit over the line above the main sinker but won’t go past the leader to braid knot, works well
My biggest gt was in the townsville shipping channel 1 meter 12 cm took 1 hr to get in.
Nice size mate, they're good fun!
Your video is very good. I really enjoy watching your videos. I wish you good health
Thanks for your feedback mate!

Glad it was helpful mate!
Hi guys, great video thanks for posting. I’m looking at purchasing a Columbus. My concern is ventilation in the rain… Just wondering how you guys managed up in the tropics… sometimes I’ve needed to have all the windows open even though it’s raining. The Columbus doesn’t have awnings or flaps over the windows. Did you guys find ventilation a problem in the hot wet conditions? Thanks, Matt
I think the new ones do have little struts to hold the outer door flap ajar but when it rains we just close it up and never really had a problem. Sometimes we do take a small fan and run it off the fridge battery. But most times not really noticed a problem. Up here in winter when we do most of our camping it doesn’t generally rain much.
seriously one of the most helpful look at not just leaders but even the whole sniveling issue of wind-knots. Basically just pay attention to you line & fear. Using a leader, for me, comes down to where I'm fishing and how I'm fishing. Thank you for cutting through the silliness...
Lucky looks so good to fish. Were these barra big
Did you just say that a fish scale will break braid before flouro?
Epic fish guys
Great fishing equipment makes fishing a lot easier.. We fish around 300m-400m depth using handlines.
Finally tried this recipe last night with some fresh Nanny - fantastic!
is that inshore in the way of the p70?
what are you using to watch on computer?
❤
Nice ❤
Thanks 🔥
Good
How do you keep your boat fuelled up for circumnavigation. I have a 6m, 150hp aluminium boat that I was hoping to take up from Victoria to launch from Lucinda and hop around Hinchinbrook. It has a 200litres tank.
If you are worried take extra fuel in a Jerry can. It’s hard for me to comment as I don’t know your fuel consumption. Perhaps you can get an idea on smaller trips by logging fuel use and distance. You can use your GPS or Navionics app to calculate the distance around Hinchinbrook. I do this before any trip to ensure I don’t run out of fuel.
Great filleting tips.
Glad it was helpful!
Now catch them
Easy!
@4wdfishin Here’s a few we caught earlier… www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/videos/big-barra-series/
🤙🤙
Great footage, even better country it sure looks beautiful
Yeah it’s a top spot Graham.
What kind of Pelagics are your favourite to catch?
Will a water remover remove water if any water got in during high winds in Glastron GT 180. And where would the water trap be in this boat? Will Iso-heet remove a little water?
How many filters on mercury outboard motor
Luar biasa
great presentation @Ryan Moody. In terms NT video it is really sad that this has been quoted so often as It is really skewed. Where any fish is brought up from depth there is massive trauma involved not only in terms of the bladder expansion but also in terms of expanded gases through the blood and flesh. Survival is heavily affected by quick treatment and return, on the surface internal damage is happening quickly from barotrauma. Where they show 3 fishes in a small cage means they were retained on the surface for some time and this will have made their survival unlikely.
Thank you for sharing your insights! You make an important point about the potential risks of barotrauma for fish brought up from depth. It's crucial for anglers to be aware of these factors and to prioritise the quick treatment and release of fish to maximise their chances of survival. Conservation-minded practices are essential for ensuring the health and sustainability of fish populations. Your contribution to this conversation is appreciated!
What is your favourite way to cook coral trout?
Good to see 2 mates enjoying themselves on the water. 👌👌👍. Another good clip Ryan and the crew. Max with the gold star ⭐️ again
The red baron haha
Great video fish looks very nice. Out baking paper in the bottom of your air fryer so it doesn't get too dirty from cooking
Thanks mate we have actually tried that since and you are spot on cheers
🤙🤙
I'll have take 2 thanks
Great video, Love the cooking videos you do, I vote for the 2nd one
DO YOU TRUST YOUR ELECTRIC WHILE YOU'RE NOT IN THE BOAT? I'VE HEARD STORIES OF BOATS LOOSING SOPT LOCK AND HEADING OFF!
We do sometimes go snorkelling on spot lock but don’t go too far from the boat.
There’s definitely a few male crocs over the 6m mark now , there not a common sight but they are out there, we are back to historic numbers so just a matter of time before someone spots a couple over 7m like before hunting happened.
Yeah the big boys are making a comeback! Let's hope everyone stays safe if they spot one of these behemoths. Thanks for sharing!
People over here in Pakistan, literally have bloody feuds over those fish with valuable bladders, all of the variants of the same family, a fish over 50 kg goes for over 55-60 k Aus dollars. So you can imagine.
Wow, that's fascinating! It's incredible how much value certain fish can hold in different parts of the world. Thanks for sharing that insight with us!
Best way to see squids on the sounder? Thanks!
Squids typically show up better on higher frequency sounders like 200kHz rather than lower frequencies like 50kHz because their small size and lack of a swim bladder makes them harder to detect on lower frequencies. Look for small fuzzy marks or clouds near the bottom that are distinct from regular fish arches. Squids lack a swim bladder so they don't give the typical arched return of fish. Marks for squids are often described as "grass" or "bait balls" near structure or the bottom. The tight schooling behavior creates these fuzzy cloud-like returns. In some cases, you may see individual squids as thin vertical marks or lines just off the bottom if the sounder resolution is high enough.
