    Great video. We started skiing in La Plagne when our children were young; we've been other places but always drawn back to Belle Plagne. This year we will introduce a 7-year old grandson to our favourite slopes - am sure he'll soon outski granny, but it will be such a joy.

    Yep, a solo mission this time around. Was tentative on the first couple of runs (would’ve been better with mates) but got the feel of it after a while. I’d say it’s a step up from Bike Park Wales (if you’ve done that before) in terms of speed and natural tech.

    Thanks for uploading this vid. I'm off to Plagne 1800 with the family this coming winter (half term). My boys are 7 and 10 and this will be only their 2nd winter hol (last Feb they did 4 days of skiing in Kaprun/Zell am See as a trial to see if they liked it, and they loved it). Your video makes me think we made the right choice in La Plagne, based on quantity of nice, easy going runs that I could see. We've had a good start to the season weather wise, so hopefully that continues throughout December and Jan. Where are you heading to this winter season?

    Cheers 🙂 La Plagne is really great for intermediates and novices (for all levels actually) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The girls’ favourite by far was the blue run called “Lainés”; nice and wide and perfect for intermediates. We’ve got a couple of days booked in Champery next year (also half term) but definitely can’t wait to get back to La Plagne.

    Hi Brad - nice job on the filming. you did better with your iPhone than many of the other youtubers have done with camera equipment. Well done. It looks like you wild camped the entire way. Did you have any issues finding a suitable camping spot?

  • @bradsorour4884
    @bradsorour4884 Жыл бұрын

    Thanks Richard, appreciate the kind comments. I reckon it was 80% camping and 20% accommodation (was forced to stay in a hotel one night because of a rolled ankle). 3 of the nights were at proper campsites where I was lured in because of the hot showers. No, it wasn’t really an issue finding a suitable wild camping spot; sometimes I’d need to walk just a little further in order to find a suitable pitch. Looking back, I would’ve made more of an effort to have wild camped for the most part :) All the best

    Thanks for the kind words! SanParks website is good for the Otter Trail. I had a similar issue when researching for Tsitsikamma at the time - no real definitive guide other than hiker blogs and vlogs. With the Otter Trail it’s fairly easygoing in that you finish each day around midday because of the distance. Info on this trail also seems to be more readily available compared to Tsitsikamma as it’s more popular. I would also recommend you check out the Hiking South Africa website here www.hikingsouthafrica.co.za/tsitsikamma-trail/

    Yes, used the Lone Peak 4.5's for this trip. I had a very similar experience to you in fact - didn't get a single blister, however, the achilles issue kicked in with me around 110 miles (and only on my left foot). I do see on other forums that this appears to be an issue with the 4.5 version. If they can sort that out then I think it's the ideal through-hiking shoe.

    Hi Dave, thanks for the comments it's really appreciated. Yes, I had fairly decent weather overall so can't complain. I did have some really bad weather around the Nine Standards with the wind and rain. I didn't see anyone for most of that day; so had to dig deep and also trust the GPS to avoid getting lost as it was so wet and foggy. The C2C was such a great walk and I met the most friendly people along the way. I just wish I took more footage around the Littlebeck and May beck area, which is really pretty. Had a look at some of Snowymatrix's clips - looks like you guys had good company and a decent wildcamp at the River Liza.

    Hi Butter Fliegr, glad to hear you going to be doing this hike, you’ll really enjoy it! Each day of this hike gets better and better! We wanted to pack light so the meals that worked well for us were the Knorr Ready-to-cook pasta meals like these: www.knorrwhatsfordinner.co.za/products/knorr-alfredo-pasta-and-sauce/ We also found that tortillas filled with tuna (the sachets, not the tins) was convenient during the day as they pack well and stay fresh. I would consider taking some fresh meat and vegetables with you for the first night and look to either braai/bbq/poitjie at the hut. All the best and enjoy the hike!
