    As you clearly know a lot about chainsaw oils, I wonder what you think about this. Would it be ok to use, instead of chainsaw bar/chain oil, to use vacuum pump oil? That's the oil used in a vacuum pump like what's used to suck out the air in an air conditioner system. I can't find my danged chainsaw oil, which I kind of need right now, but I have a case of the danged vacuum pump oil. So I wonder if that's ok or a bad idea? I just bought one of those pole saws. It's a small electric chain saw on the end of an extendable pole (up to 9 feet). It says that the oil pump is automatic as it has no little bulb to push. I used it yesterday, but the oil level is exactly the same and the chain seems dry. So I removed the chain and bar to look at the "auto oil" thingy and it's nothing more than a little, tiny hole that I assume goes into the oil tank itself. It seemed clear, but I blew into the oil tank to see if the oil would push out, but it did not. So I think this is a defect from the manufacturer. I won't go into how ridiculous it is to deal with them! So I want to go old school, like I used to do with my old chainsaw where the oil thingy didn't even work. I just kept oil in one of those little oil cans with the flexible nozzle and finger pump. I would just oil the chain/bar ever few minutes. So since I can't find any extra chain oil around, I'm wondering if this vacuum pump oil would be ok. I also have some motor oils around... 5x30, 10w20 and another type, which I can't remember its number right now. LOL Ideas??

    Get 4 coil springs and weld them on all 4 corners. I have a 8'x10' screen with a 110 motor. I run it with a 2200 watt inverter generator. Can't hear the generator over the screen. A full tank 1.3 gallons of gas gets me 7hrs of run time. I made tube steel skids for feet so I can drag it as it fills under the screener. How is the motor holding up with all the shaking?

  • @BobKelland
    @BobKelland3 ай бұрын

    I introduced the "springs" made from tires as an alternative to the conventional approach (coil springs) as no welding is required and tires are readily available. Also, as some have noted, it is a good, albeit minor, contribution to recycling efforts. The intentionally overrated motor that I have used should last for a long time as the mechanical load is minimal in my setup even though I use with "direct drive". No gears, pulleys or belts required. I have considered using my emergency gasoline generator for the electrical but have not actually done that yet. If I had thought of that earlier I probably would not have had the electrical cable installed (but it helps to have a qualified electrician as a grandson :))
