I have just planted a few seedlings of this in my garden, which sadly isnt big, but I am curious as to how I can use it (among others ) to improve wellness. Medicinal herbs are something Ive always been able to recommend and prescribe when asked, but never had the time to create a serious herb garden and use them raw. Few of the herbs I want to grow are native here, but many were grown in every Victorian era home garden, esp farms, as medicines were unavailable or too expensive. I also work at a living Victorian era cottage and small farm, and re-establishing the garden is a project we are starting to work on. So this was a contender in that garden too. Curious to see hoow effective it actually is. it seems to need a damp shaded area..? I have never seen it grown here - South Australia is very dry. Is it a good ground cover?

I totally agree with you - esp in context of broader longer history. I have just discovered your channel, as Im taking advantage of yt channels to update my medicinal chemistry knowledge base of some herbs and plants esp by audio as I do other things. Im Australian, and I think like you, each of our 8 states and territories have their own floral emblems - either only flowers or flowers of trees. I lloved your take on the hysteria, - well done. Altho Down Under we would be a tad less diplomatic about it and just grab a beer and say "pull yr head in " (aka - get over yourself). And yes - from time to time our registration plates will have or have had our floral emblems on them. Great idea.

My eyes are bad, and I live alone. There is some good advice here, but I’m going to stick to that deep woods off. I wear tall socks, and I spray the socks/ shoes all around, and I wear long pants and spray them all around and up the legs.

This was really informative. I have a lot of nettle growing on my property (Northern Utah) and remember my grandma tell me how nettle was good for you. She grew up on nettle soup.

Using my wife's Gmail. I was just wondering if you go out of your way to talk, hand jester, use facial expression of Rod Sterling? Looking at you is like looking, listening to Rod Stering 50 years since his passing. Your resemblance is, well, it's Rod Sterling. Twilight Zone. Thanks for tic suggestions.

I'm here in Northeast Oklahoma zone 6A and I just learned recently that zebra swallowtails only eat pawpaw tree leaves. There's one area I know of near water where there are a lot of zebra swallowtails so my search is on for the pawpaw tree! I know we are just on the edge of their habitat.

I just saw this video today. Maybe someone can give insight on Ticovac shots (in use for 20 years in Europe for TBE) or LYMERix for Borrelia bugdorferi at a 75% effective rate but removed fro shelves due to low demand. Moderna has/had 2 novel mRNA candidates -1982 and -1975 and Pfizer has VLA15 Valeneva around Nov 2021. This is a great awareness video. Lyme disease is a miserable SOB and can be confused with arthritis (also sucks). I picked up Lyme and any prevention should be taken seriously.

Stinging Nettle is also considered a high stabilizer plant for soils! It's very important for stream bank stabilization in some areas, especially where cattle graze. It also makes a delicious tea with honey. Thanks for the informative video!

Great video. I used to hike with my dog all day in rural PA and MD at least 3x/week several hours and entire weekends. Never once considered ticks or lyme and never got one. I was also extremely fit, running cycling hiking many hours. Fast forward: an accident that kept me sedentary and poor diet, grief and loss, inflammation. Mild midwest winter i return from a geriatric hike and have 3 ticks embedded in me one crawling up my jugular and 2 in the wash tub where i rinsed the dog. 1. Get your dog on the tick medicine 2. Hes right about anti-inflammatory diet. 3. If you're out of shape consider yourself a tick magnet.

It’s certainly all about covering ground and putting on the miles. It’s good to identify trees, I’ve been finding all mine around ash trees here in central Wisconsin. I’ve also found them growing mad under ostrich ferns and right out of open grass while walking my dog, with no easily identifiable mycorrhizal relationship to surrounding trees. Sometimes just get down and look around for a couple minutes.
