I found endurance sports at the age 23, when I had become sick and tired of not fulfilling my potential as a human and athlete. At that time, I was turning up to Sunday league football hungover, getting injured frequently all whilst feeling a bit lost with my career. 2 Ironmans, 2 Everesting bike challenges, Sub-3 Marathons, many 70.3s, and an inclusive cycling club later…
Endurance sport, connecting with the land and ocean, and building community have all made my life more fulfilled and enjoyable, giving me a renewed sense of purpose inside and outside of work. This feeling (through sport) is a privilege that not everyone has access to, and knowing the immense power of inclusion and empowerment, I want to show up for under-represented groups and inspire newcomers to my sports of cycling, running et al!

Your channel is highly underrated! The quality of your videos are great and the vibes soo good. I watch it while I foam roll pre run. Cheers from Austin🤙
John thank you so much!!! That’s the highest praise and I appreciate it so much… all the way from America wow! What are you preparing for and have you been watch Clayton Young’s channel in prep for the Paris Olympics?
@@felixoates I’m just maintaining the mileage rn until the fall but I’m doing the Houston marathon in Jan and then Austin half in Feb. Oh the whole series is special. Clayton’s editor or editors are insane! It’s like watching a Netflix doc plus seeing what it takes to be an Olympic marathoner is absolute insanity. Lol I hope he keeps posting even after the Olympics. I have a feeling track and field this year is gonna be special. Take it easy mate!
@@johng8911that’s epic man good luck with the races that sounds like a huge schedule for 2025!! I’m glad you’ve been watching too - I love it hey! I’m a big fan of his as well, such a professional in everything he does - really want to see him succeed and continue posting as well!
@@felixoates thanks Felix! I entered the lottery for NYC and Chicago marathon but took an L this year on both. Lol but that’s alright. You running Sydney marathon in sept? That seems like a cool city to run in but I heard people aren’t the friendliest, at least according to my cousin who grew up in Queensland 😂
@@johng8911 hope you can do Chicago and NYC in future editions!! And the people in Sydney are great but it can fast moving that’s all 🙏🏻 It’s all a lot slower North in Queensland! But yes I will indeed be running Sydney Mara 🤙🏻
Congratz mate, solid work!
Cheers brother appreciate you watching!!
amazing effort man, so glad the knee didnt give too much grief and hydration worked out well this time around too! sub 2.55 project complete thats a crazy effort!
Maaate thank you so much for not only watching but interested in my goal and my poor lil knee!! The hydration was absolutely key! The words of encouragement really mean a lot thanks again dude
Been following your channel for over a year. It's getting better all the time! Love watching the journey 💪🙌💥

This is epic mate
Thanks so much for watching my bruz appreciate ya!
great vid🔥 Hedges avenue is too good. Bit of a shame they didn't run through Burleigh but I think that was because of road works. Hopefully they do next year.
Thank you bro! Appreciate you watching 🙏🏻 yeah it was a shame but not a bad shout sending us up to the spit! No complaints and brilliant edition of the race
Great Vodcast Felix. Its good to hear your story and watch you find your purpose, as someone who knew the old version of you the turn around is great to see. Keep at it mate
Mate!! So happy to know that you are watching and I appreciate your support so much! I hope you're having an awesome Summer on the bike and keeping tabs of your success over this way too! All the best my friend
Good luck for the race man! Also Pat is absolutely fantastic!
Ditto that my friend! Thanks so much for watching!
100% man, love this video format, just hearing the journey and the grind, love it. Saw you running in centennial the other day, you seemed in the zone so I didn't want to interrupt but seeing your vids, especially the runs you filmed in Sydney and Aus inspired me to become more serious about my running. your video running the city to surf gave me the push to sign up, really excited. anyways, love your raw content and thoughts. keep it up
Maaaate this is the best comment to read ever! Thanks so much! Hearing that is truly a mission accomplished moment for me as the intent was always to inspire people to give these sports a crack 🙏🏻 You will boss C2S I'm sure and I hope you continue to enjoy your running. If you can find a love for the sport and use it as a mindfulness and wellness practice in your weekly routine, results will be a by-product! Thanks again for following my journey and don't be a stranger 🤙🏻
how was the road surface roughness and potholes?
From what I remember it wasn’t the best but certainly not the worst! Thanks for watching 💪🏻
You're in great hands with Pat! He's put me back together a few times.
Honestly felt so fresh walking out of there hey! Thanks for watching!
ive been doing calf raises and lunges and faster paces are feeling way more comfortable now
Thanks for the advice mate that’s super helpful! Appreciate you watching too sir 🙏🏻
Got the same diagnosis about a month ago, super annoying but thankfully nothing serious. all the best for GC
Yeah if anything it’s positive hey! Nothing worse than some soreness that requires a bit of work and rehabbing - thanks for your thoughts and well wishes I really appreciate it 🙏🏻
Really useful info mate. Look at those beefy pins!!
Mate I think the 0.5 camera angle was very favourable hahaha - thanks for watching my brother!
Glad to hear it’s nothing major! Best of luck mate with your marathon - You’re gonna smash it!💪😁
Thank you great man I appreciate you! Thanks for the support!
Think that you could train as a sports psychologist Felix - you have all the qualities and skills! 😊
I take that as a massive complement coming from yourself Fi! Enjoying the variety of social impact at the moment and applying it to my sports too 💪🏻
Such an inspiring video, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. A pleasure to watch
Thanks so much for watching Julie I appreciate it!!
Great story bro. in 2021 i had the first dose of the PHIZER vaccine and it gave me a severe brain injury and the medication made me gain 28kg. i was young and into my athletics and then i was fat and ugly and lost all hope. but now ive managed to get back to 73kg and love distance running.
Bro my story pales in comparison with what you have been through - you are living proof that there is a way back to a better life. It makes me sad to hear ‘fat and ugly’ - you were fighting and surviving and that represents strength in its purest form to me mate. Thank you for sharing and for watching dude 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Felix, thanks for sharing your story and these beautiful trails! I loved your Annecy video too. I went there once on vacation, but now I want to go back there to bike and run around the lake... maybe even do a triathlon. Quick question: are you still using the DJI Osmo or is this a GoPro?
Mate thank you for taking time to hear it! Annecy was a real treat and glad you enjoyed it too… I was actually thinking the whole time this is a triathletes summer dream! The water was pristine and the running and riding takes some beating. Mate I am still using my trusty DJI and my iPhone 14 for b-roll stuff occasionally!
Thanks for sharing Felix, inspiring story and can’t wait to see what’s next. Signed up for the newsletter!
You are a king my friend! Stoked to know you will be reading the first edition of the newsletter!
Hey Felix, really been enjoying your content. it was really great to hear your story, everything that happens in life is for a reason, and I'm glad that you're happier with your choices now. Continue striving for greatness, and uploading great content !!
Ahhh mate this is so lovely to read - thanks so much for getting around my channel it means a lot! I believe in that mantra too my friend and knowing people like you find value in the videos is what drives me forward!
well done mate! amazing effort. Have any of your previous PB efforts been a negative split?
Thanks so much!! Appreciate you watching 😁 R.E the negative split - short answer: no haha! Not through choice lol I actually asked a bit of a running guru of mine about neg splits and I think it might be less common at the top level than what I previously thought - like did you race every km if you were able to do a negative split? That’s not to say you should go out too hot like me 😂 for the GC I will try to even up the splits with the aim of going faster but will still run ambitiously haha
Haha I know exactly… the struggle is real. I’ve never run a negative split marathon before. Only managed it for shorter distances.
@@felixoates I ran my first sub-3 (2:59:04) at Gold coast on the weekend. It was such an amazing event.
magic event, I only did the half m but massive respect to the 4 lappers
Thanks for watching dude and congrats on your race! Half marathon is an epic achievement whether it’s your first or tenth!
Sunshine Coast here we come 😂
@@jasonreid347is there a Sunny coast Mara or are you on about GC mate?!?
Congrats!!! The last few kms of this vid and you saying come on come on, and seeing the finish line is so inspiring. What a feeling. Such an amazing run. Thanks for the video
Thanks dude I really appreciate your thoughts! It’s was fricking hard man but all of these races are and we’ve just got to rally in those moments hey! Thanks for watching man 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Epic content!!! I want to go !
You would absolutely love it my dear friend!
Rocacorba was one of the hardest climbs I’ve done yet! Really steep and tricky. Shame you couldn’t do it but looked like a great trip overall.
Thanks for your thoughts brother that’s good to know for next time! Stay safe over there and can’t wait to catch up dude - rip in ❤
Great vid, funny that there was road works and you couldnt go to rocacorba, I found it extremely overrated as a climb, its a single way road of pretty poor quality seemingly in the middle of nowhere, the view is decent but there are certainly better views in girona (as you saw running) haha I got lost trying to find rocacorba, maybe i never found it and found an imposter climb
Thanks dude I appreciate it! I remember you saying you'd gone to Rocacorba and you weren't sure about it... Maybe i'll never get to find out mate! In any case, I feel fortunate to have experienced some incredible views and scenery in spite of that!
Awesome video!
Thanks so much mate appreciate you giving it a watch!! Hope you're enjoying your projects and training man
Inspiring stuff mate!
Thank you brother all my love!!
Mate, fully in awe of this. Especially getting yourself through the end bit. Brought the energy, kept it positive and a fantastic time. I'm a 3:23 marathoner but I'd like to think it's possible to go sub 3 one day. It's harder psychologically more than anything else, I think.
Hey dude! Thank you so much it really means a lot to hear that. I have had to learn the hard way that the result doesn't actually matter and if I never go sub 2:50 that's all good - the important part is I applied myself and enjoyed the experience! 3:23 is a bloody fantastic marathon time though and of course sub 3 is possible man! If it's something you truly want to crack and you think you'll enjoy and grow whilst pursuing it why the hell not 💪
Solid effort running that good swinging a camera the whole way. Awesome work 👏 👏👏
Thanks very much I appreciate it!
congratulations!! what an insane time, stitches are such a killer idk how you kept going!
Honestly Alana they really get me!! Glad you resonate hahaha, thanks for watching!
