Just for roleplay reasons 'cause they look cool (and because Meredith did wield a huge sword). xD She's not my main melee damage dealer anyway and was never relly built as such, so in her case using slightly inferior weapons doesn't matter much.

It's because the devs just can't fix Transformation. It's been bugged since release in different ways and the current bug is that when you have BFT hand out transformation the game calculates the difference between BFT's BAB and max BAB (i.e. 10 for pure bft) and just gives that 10 BAB to the target. And I don't mind a bit of abuses while they still work. xD

Tbf, I've seen arcane tricksters kill her in 1 round with optimized scorching rays and & applied fire fulnerability (but it was before sneak attack nerf). Minmaxed caster parties can do that to in 1 round (evil eye, evil eye, greater dispel, touch of madness, greater dispel, phantasmal killer or smth like that). Sword saint with dimension strike can also quickly put her down.

I only hired her before midnight fane and given my level I got a lvl 20 one with capstone and all spells and all the feats I needed and I could optimize her mythics (like not spending them on abundant casting), so my experience is very biased/limited, but she's been pretty good so far. Having a pocket Azata is fun. xD But I probably wouldn't play magic deceiver MC from the start. Too few casts at early levels. No buffs, so 0 party support (or even self-support). Either party would have to carry her or you'd have to rest after every 2-3 encounters.

In what regard? Mechanically, it's the worst main path imo. Unmerged angel is simply terrible and is the weakest main mythic. Merged angel is strong but the build is way too linear and only synergizes with a handful of divine full casters. The plot / RP value are the best so far, at least for me, but there is just no replayability here. At least not without some creative modding (like choosing a different class for martial KC and using toybox to merge one of companions instead). And even in this case Angel doesn't really provide any interesting unique mechanics. Bolts are good so far (and useful for particularly thicc bosses or single encounters in small locations when you don't feel like buffing for a single fight) because I'm overlevelled but they're not gonna do a lot of damage in the end-game against 1759 HP desolating gallus or 3k+ HP bosses like Nahyndri.

@@Leonion6 best is the wrong word... You're right, only merged angel is any good. But those Grandmaster rod level 9 heightened Storms of Justice.... Hard to compete with that. It was almost kind of not fun towards the end. Yes, a couple of big enemies it is not ideal for, but for 90% of the mobs in the game you just steamroll. I haven't played Lich yet so I can't compare with that. But I found angel way stronger than my Azata, Aeon, or trickster. No where near as fun, but so much stronger.

And unlike angel, he gets one of his best spells (vampiric blade) early even when unmerged. It's also the only main mythic apart from Angel whose story I more or less liked. And his deadly magic & corrupt magic are great. It was fun to just "YOU SHALL NOT CAST" Areelu. xD Aeon is kind of sad right now after multiple nerfs. At first, his zero state used to dispel everything but then it was nerfed. Then people used his perfect form for insane builds but it was nerfhammered too. Then his greater bane was capable of dispelling everything (like mutagens or fighting defensively) but it was "fixed" too. Now he has both a weak start (nothing impressive in acts 3 & 4) and not particularly stunning ending. Trickster and demon start slow but get good by act 4 and become absolute powerhouses in act 5. And both of them are very flexible and have ton of options for all kinds of builds. I really like them mechanically, but not a fan of their stories. Azata is the best early option for DC spellcasters because of favourable magic by MR4 and also good for martials in later acts. I wish Angel had better buffs for the sword/halo instead of having 95% of his strength in the spellbook.

All the immunities add up and the gazes are super fun. I was throwing axes so I didn't really care too much about the spells. Hardly used them, except the immune to all physical damage one. That was incredible. Trickster was also fun. That was my first unfair run. Hunter Divine Hound. Love Trick fate and getting access to a full wizard spellbook. It was so much fun to level up. Storywise I liked Aeon the best. It was great to play Lawful and only care about rules and regulations. I found it very enjoyable. Trickster was silly but ok.

While I don't like demon because of evil stuff and trickster/azata (especially azata) because of all the circus they create, Aeon was the worst case of "jfc, i can't wait till it's all over". Playing as true Aeon made me feel like I'm playing as paranoid schizophrenic who's slowly but steadily going more and more insane with each act. The guy legit talks to a mirror, he "sees" lawbreakers everywhere but can almost never tell what they did (the dialogue is usually like that: "YOU! YOU, I SEE YOUR BAD AURA! I KNOW YOU DID SOMETHING WRONG! I KNOW YOU BROKE SOME LAW!" - "o_O, man, what on Earth are you talking about? What are you accusing me of?" - "I''VE NO CLUE, ALRIGHT!!11 But I know you did something abnormal!!11"), and in the end he just expels everyone from the crusade and invites an entire army of outsiders to replace them (which is extremely ironic because axiomatis don't belong to this plane and shouldn't be here).

I show buffs at the start (0:04) and at the end (18:02). High AC that can only be hit on nat 20 + blur (20% miss chance) + stoneskin (reducing dmg per hit by 10 before difficulty multiplier; up to 70 dmg total) help a lot with survivability.

Tbf, I never had room in my party for grabbers before. I was thinking of giving someone a bear this time now that the devs game them Grabber, but their practical use disappointed me (grab being tied to their second attack). A dev said that smilodons will be fixed in the next patch so I guess it's an interesting option because of pounce. Other than that, dogs definitely became a superior pet overall after the patch and in case you really need to shut down a spellcaster, you can always carry a couple of shambling mound scrolls in your inventory (which is what I will probably do).

They are in a fairly good place to make a stand. They have some crude weapons some first aid supplies enough people to band together and fight the creatures. enough food and drink for a while, as far as i remember , the only mistake was freaking out and listening to Mrs Carmody. Angelo

Something happened here, yeah. They were always there, but Sosiel used to kill most of them during a cutscene by channeling energy. Now he doesn't do that anymore. I'm not sure what caused this: an official universal change, a bug, devs deciding to keep the enemies on higher difficulties or maybe I just did/said something wrong this time.

Wdym by the idea? I'm still a one-trick pony, I just used the same conjurer-evoker build i used before for my shaman merc before, except this time I tried it as a wizard, didn't have expanded arsenal and instead of borrowing shouts via loremaster borrowed winter's grasp. xD Plus I took Corruptor near end-game which proved useful for controlling crowds. Also it's kind not my brightest build because evoker' cloak conflicts with demon's cloak (which makes me lose 2 dc) and robe of water conflicts with the wisdom robe which I also used to make glasses of undeniable truth work (for +2 INT). Enchantment would be less "conflicting", I just really like shouts & winter's grasp (which btw sometimes even bypasses freedom of movement for some reason) and can't stop using them. Also just out of curiosity I tried playing this run as a "renegade" demon (by refusing to change my alignment and staying mostly lawful/good) which cancelled my mythic quest and cost me MR9. But the game completely ignored it in terms of reactivity, demons still populated Drezen in act 5 and everyone still treated me as evil incarnate. :( Lann's build is heavily nerfed now. They nerfhammered leopards into the ground in the last patch and they nerfed armor stacking bonuses for the purpose of "light armor mythic - assault" (but it's still decent and gives +5 ab and damage at its peak). So now i'd probably choose dog, elk or bear for him. Glory domain gives him some nice spells, guarded hearth helps against bosses and hunter provides decent spell list and useful inherent bonuses for both him and the pet. I also used loremaster to get him one of critster feats (+1 multiplier) and transformation spell. But it turned out to be bugged so I lost 3 caster levels because of it (as far as I understand it only happens during the last levels, so if you pick loremaster during early levels, it shouldn't mess up spellcasting progression, I think). And estoc as a weapon ofc, because estocs are just soooo damg good throught the whole course of the game. Initially I was planning on using woljif but Lann turned out to be surprisingly effective overall so I just kept on playing with him (I like small parties). "Behind the curtains" I also had Ember and Sosiel with enduring buffs. I used them (either in Seelah's quest location or in Midnight fane in act 5) to buff me and Lann with enduring buffs before big locations for a more comfortable gameplay (so that i don't have to constantly pause and watch the timer on my buffs). But shouts and winter's grasp make buffs way less important than usual, especially in small locaitons, because all enemies are prone and/or stunned anyway and can neither attack nor defend properly. They also crafted a few scrolls for me during rests in Drezen. Pearls also help prepared casters a lot now, the difference between them and spontaneous ones is enormous in terms of daily casts. And I recommend "the one pearl" mod by AlterAsc to make using them waaaaaay more comfortable. It was also the only game where I didn't use any mercs. xD So it was another thing i decided to try "for a change".

Not the best result vs Nahyndri. I got lucky and stunned him on the first try but DC could defiitely be improved. 1) Because I decided to experiment and play as a good demon I lost mythic quest and MR9 (and got nothing in return: the game has 0 reactivity regarding actual alignment: Drezen still got swarmed with demons in act 5, Arue left me, everyone hates me; so I don't recommend anyone to try that in their games). If I had MR9, my DC would be higher by 5 (1 - from inevitable fate, 1 - from rage, 1 - from incubus aspect, 1 from intelligence, 1 from nabasu aspect). I would also be able to enforce a reroll thanks to Socothbenoth's aspect. 2) I was in a hurry and forgot to cast symbol of vulnerability - another +4. 3) 2 more DC can be gained by resting again and eating acorn pie (but I'm allergic to frequent resting so I never stacked food bonuses in the current playthrough yet). 4) 1 more DC could be gained by replacing robe of unspeakable truth with robe of determination. A total of +12 DC and a reroll. Or at least 10 DC without extra rest. That would be enough to make Nahyndri successfully save only on nat 20.

I may turn Daeran into CP later but for now I'm doing more or less fine and I just like small parties. xD I don't even use my resources fully, like I don't rest as often I could, don't stack 2 meal bonuses, don't always rage even in boss fights. I'm also curious how far I and Lann can get. At first I only took him as a temporary replacement for Woljif but he's being so useful I'm starting to think we may even be able to take down playful darkness together.

@@Leonion6 It's just that Court Poet uses CHA. If you don't like Seelah you can go with Ember since you only need 16 levels in the class for maximum INT buff and she starts as 4.

Wdym by the idea? I'm still a one-trick pony, I just used the same conjurer-evoker build i used before for my shaman merc before, except this time I tried it as a wizard, didn't have expanded arsenal and instead of borrowing shouts via loremaster borrowed winter's grasp. xD Plus I took Corruptor near end-game which proved useful for controlling crowds. Also it's kind not my brightest build because evoker' cloak conflicts with demon's cloak (which makes me lose 2 dc) and robe of water conflicts with the wisdom robe which I also used to make glasses of undeniable truth work (for +2 INT). Enchantment would be less "conflicting", I just really like shouts & winter's grasp (which btw sometimes even bypasses freedom of movement for some reason) and can't stop using them. Also just out of curiosity I tried playing this run as a "renegade" demon (by refusing to change my alignment and staying mostly lawful/good) which cancelled my mythic quest and cost me MR9. But the game completely ignored it in terms of reactivity, demons still populated Drezen in act 5 and everyone still treated me as evil incarnate. :( Lann's build is heavily nerfed now. They nerfhammered leopards into the ground in the last patch and they nerfed armor stacking bonuses for the purpose of "light armor mythic - assault" (but it's still decent and gives +5 ab and damage at its peak). So now i'd probably choose dog, elk or bear for him. Glory domain gives him some nice spells, guarded hearth helps against bosses and hunter provides decent spell list and useful inherent bonuses for both him and the pet. I also used loremaster to get him one of critster feats (+1 multiplier) and transformation spell. But it turned out to be bugged so I lost 3 caster levels because of it (as far as I understand it only happens during the last levels, so if you pick loremaster during early levels, it shouldn't mess up spellcasting progression, I think). And estoc as a weapon ofc, because estocs are just soooo damg good throught the whole course of the game. Initially I was planning on using woljif but Lann turned out to be surprisingly effective overall so I just kept on playing with him (I like small parties). "Behind the curtains" I also had Ember and Sosiel with enduring buffs. I used them (either in Seelah's quest location or in Midnight fane in act 5) to buff me and Lann with enduring buffs before big locations for a more comfortable gameplay (so that i don't have to constantly pause and watch the timer on my buffs). But shouts and winter's grasp make buffs way less important than usual, especially in small locaitons, because all enemies are prone and/or stunned anyway and can neither attack nor defend properly. They also crafted a few scrolls for me during rests in Drezen. Pearls also help prepared casters a lot now, the difference between them and spontaneous ones is enormous in terms of daily casts. And I recommend "the one pearl" mod by AlterAsc to make using them waaaaaay more comfortable. It was also the only game where I didn't use any mercs. xD So it was another thing i decided to try "for a change".

Not the best result vs Nahyndri. I got lucky and stunned him on the first try but DC could defiitely be improved. 1) Because I decided to experiment and play as a good demon I lost mythic quest and MR9 (and got nothing in return: the game has 0 reactivity regarding actual alignment: Drezen still got swarmed with demons in act 5, Arue left me, everyone hates me; so I don't recommend anyone to try that in their games). If I had MR9, my DC would be higher by 5 (1 - from inevitable fate, 1 - from rage, 1 - from incubus aspect, 1 from intelligence, 1 from nabasu aspect). I would also be able to enforce a reroll thanks to Socothbenoth's aspect. 2) I was in a hurry and forgot to cast symbol of vulnerability - another +4. 3) 2 more DC can be gained by resting again and eating acorn pie (but I'm allergic to frequent resting so I never stacked food bonuses in the current playthrough yet). 4) 1 more DC could be gained by replacing robe of unspeakable truth with robe of determination. A total of +12 DC and a reroll. Or at least 10 DC without extra rest. That would be enough to make Nahyndri successfully save only on nat 20.
How anyone could figure out how to beat this past core is beyond me

I may turn Daeran into CP later but for now I'm doing more or less fine and I just like small parties. xD I don't even use my resources fully, like I don't rest as often I could, don't stack 2 meal bonuses, don't always rage even in boss fights. I'm also curious how far I and Lann can get. At first I only took him as a temporary replacement for Woljif but he's being so useful I'm starting to think we may even be able to take down playful darkness together.
@@Leonion6 It's just that Court Poet uses CHA. If you don't like Seelah you can go with Ember since you only need 16 levels in the class for maximum INT buff and she starts as 4.
