Welcome!!
WE BOUGHT A BOAT. With no skills in DIY watch us attempt to renovate and move onto our boat.
We upload a video every Monday so keep an eye out for our weekly uploads.
Originally we made videos just to show our family and friends but now we want to expand to a wider audience and share our experiences with you!

Hi Ryan & Chloe, Lovely Marina, wondered if they have spaces? 😊
Nice work
Easy tip for stopping paint skin on top is to turn the can upside down to store it but make sure the lid is on tight
Treat your rails to some good ole candle wax to help them slide easier, it also works on wooden drawers too. Bless you both it seems to be one thing after another. Thank goodness you have such a lovely mooring 🤗
Xx
Hello you 2 as to that peace of sludge pulled out of the paint can you can eliminate that or reduce to almost nothing . Take a peace of clear plastic food wrap place it on top of the paint left in the bucket lay it gently on top of the paint and up the side of the can gently pushing it against of the can the idea being to cut of all air to the paint in the can . Also on the wood that you the rail that root is still in the remaining wood is full of the root fungus so it will continue to decay .. Also it would not hurt to polish the steel rails and wax the wood upper rail . I have no idea if the upper is wood or steel but never oil wood it will tend to make it swell. Good luck you to you after 40 years of painting if I ever saw an employee open a paint can with anything other a paint can opener they would hear about it, never do that it distorts the seal that seal is a very will designed to be reused over and over .When closing up the can never hit the lid with anything other than a rubber mallet ,always clean the channel out on the can and wipe that lid of also . None of this will hurt you so go with it it pays of in the long run good luck stay safe and enjoy your canal moments there will be many .
If you put paint lid on tight store lid side down. Skin will form what is now the top. When you open tin no skin.
wonderful.
Dear Chloe, Love your sweater!! Bet it is nice and warm. While you were videoing I noticed a symbol that looks like a house next to the hatch. Is there a story about that? Do let your viewers know if the repair work was successful. Interesting comment about buying a new boat instead of buying a second hand one. These days there is some truth in that. Take care guys. Mark Alberta, Canada
That is a lovely mooring you have there, where are you?
Unless you're made of money, when you put the lid back on paint especially expensive hammerite give it a shake and it should seal any little gaps in the lid. That skin was about a fivers worth of paint 👍😂🤣😂🤣
good vid on the work and cranking it on cut keep up the good vid you do thanks lee
Hi Ryan & Cloe I'd check to see if it's running down the inside of the gunnel and just dripping at the duck hatch, don't asume just because it's dripping there it's the duck hatch leaking. Water will always run to the lowest point, i've had the same thing wondering where the leak was, it turned out to the a window eight feet away. :)
Hope all your hard work works 💪
use a single edge blade so much easier😊
wow what a bother 40 minutes later wow is me😂😂😂😂
Rip the lot out guys and then replace tiles with shower boards(no tiling) Keep your dream a life, come on do it❤
when it's all dry, you need to oil the worktop underneath the hatch otherwise it's going to rot.
Xx
No leaks from the floor so thats a big bonus!
You need to rag all the old sealer out no point putting on top of old sealer
Hi Ryan, Water is a very pesky substance. If there is the most minute hole/gap it will find its way in. davidday6838 made a very valid comment. Around the hatches and windows it will be necessary to seal from the outside making sure the surfaces are very clean before applying your sealant. If the insulation is true "rock wool" then you won't need to be as concerned about PPE as if it were glass fiber. Take care and give Chloe my regards. Mark Alberta, Canada (currently in Portsmouth)
Hope you guys managed to sort out those leaks. Our hatches have been taking a battering with all this rain recently too😢
Allay have disposable nappies or puppy pads onboard. They soak up o lot of water
With the side hatch, don't try and seal it from the inside ... You already have water migrating behind the lining so that will just hide rather than fix the leak?
Pop all your windows out and use butyl tape around the frames
It's because your boat has been lifted out of the water and the shell of your boat has moved slightly instead of the water taking the weight, if that makes sense.
Really helpful video, I'm looking to buy a boat and hadn't thought about rain leaking in. Also do u have an inspection hatch to check for water under the floor?
How far behind are the videos?
Terrible end to a great weekend. Happy birthday anyway.
Feel for you with the leaks. You said Ryan was going away. What does he do?
Hi Chloe, Hi Ryan Really happy for you guys. So who is your new cabin girl. She is such a sweetheart. That is the first time I have witnessed a seal in any of the narrowboat channels. WOW!! What a great sighting. Maybe it is an omen for you. Have a really safe time full of sunshine. Mark Alberta, Canada (currently in Frieth, England)
Thank you so much yes so exciting to see a seal! Thanks as always for watching!
Hello from Alaska, thanks for sharing your narrowboat life with us, very interesting 🎉
Thanks for watching!
omgggg so cuteee 🦭 what an amazing experience! He looked so happy swimming with the boat
Thank you 🤗 was amazing!
Never seen her look as happy..... His emotions are always the same, good, bad, whatever......men...lol
Haha! Thanks for watching :)
Get a “barge pole” helps you push off without getting wet
Ah we had one but were properly stuck oops! Thanks for watching :)
A better solution for insulation would be polystyrene sheets.
Thanks! :)
Well done guys x
Thank you :)
Are you guys not going to be cruising the canals?
We are undecided! Thanks for watching :)
Well done guys, knew you would do it, 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏
Thank you! :)
You guys need to invest in some mics or audio recorders. The audio is terrible and it makes watching the episodes very difficult to stick with. That wind noise is a killer.
Good to see you happy today take care Peter NB Bluebelle
Thanks for watching! :)
It’s quite obvious you have a lot to learn, enjoy the process. Ask the engineers if you can watch them work on your boat. The more you learn the more you can do for yourself making boating much cheaper. You also become more self reliant. Good luck with your adventure..
Are you new mate? They literally stripped the boat and rebuilt it, new flooring, new water tank, new insulation, plumbing, laying gas pipes ( connected by a gas fitter of course ) They have done amazing, DIY where it made sense, and got people in for the important bits like overplating and 2 pack. It has become one of the best 1980s boats out there. They have already learned a lot.
seal footage was great. Such a special moment for you even if its meant to be 'common'
So great! Thanks for watching :)
Nice vIDEO congratulations bro ❤❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂❤❤❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for watching! :)
Check for loose bits on the engine!!! Oil filter, drain plug if there's one. As the engine gets hot it expands and things might just need a little turn 👍
Thanks for the tips!
When was this filmed please? The reason I'm asking is that in your latest vlog at 4mins. You went passed the Lazy Otter marina. Moored up there was a dead ringer for our boat. Same colour, same cratch and same lifebelt on the roof. We left at the end of August last year, so it can't be our boat unless this was filmed last summer.
good see you cranking it on the boat keep up the good vid s thanks lee
Thanks for watching :)
Wish your vids were longer
Good to know! Thanks!
Cheers guys ... enjoying your vids
Thanks glad you are enjoying :)
Cruise not drive !! Terminology and all that :-)
The jury is out on this particular terminology. Drive is perfectly acceptable when talking about narrowboats.
@spencehh All the other canal boat Utube creators refer to Cruising not driving. Driving the Cut instead of Cruising the Cut could refer to many other things.
Ignoring the title of David’s great KZread channel. It is often referred to as driving a boat.
@@spencehh My light hearted comment, I did give a smile emoji seems to have denigrated into nit picking . Time to STOP !FFS
