Many thanks for a great vegan video! For UK based folk all the ingredients are readily available , and this is totally do-able! If you are into Dr Michael Greger at Nutritionfacts.org there is a 'Daily Dozen' app available, and if there is a vegan video that needs to be made - it is how to make a Hiker version of the 'Daily Dozen' - my guess that would be a whole load of dehydrating of veggie greens, and other veg. While this video is well put together, some other tips to consider - ground flax seed (Lidle's supermarket breakfast section) add a tablespoon into the cold soaked oats mix, Vegetable stock cube makes for a great Base for soup in a cup - add dehydrated veg to complete, Mushrooms are a great way to change up protein intake, completely agree with Make-Your-Own energy bars, I quite like starting with a basic oat Flap-Jack recipe and dialling down the sugar but dialling up dried fruit and nuts/seeds. Finally non of the Vegan hiking vids mention the joy of a decent Coffee out on the Trail. A pop-can stove, 750ml pot a simple pot stand and boiling water is no problem - but the magic to great coffee is pour the boiling water into a separate mug - allow the heat to soak into the mug for a minute or two, then stir in a teaspoon or two of real ground coffee (and any sugar - mine's Muscavado) let it brew in the cup - the coffee grounds all sink to the bottom and you drink fantastic coffee off the top (and none of the faff of filters etc). Hopefully some useful comment here! Thanks for a great Vegan Hiking food video - inspiring!

@VeganAdventurist5 жыл бұрын
Hi Betsalel, thanks for your comment. Personally, I regard vegan boots as ones which do not contain any animal products at all that includes the materials, glues and dyes. From having quick look it looks like the North Face hedgehog do contain leather: www.thenorthface.co.uk/shop/en-gb/tnf-gb/mens-hedgehog-hike-ii-mid-gtx-boots-2yb4?variationId=4DC#hero=0 - as stated in the 'features' section. Hiya, sadly at present I haven't found a resource like this. That's why I made my ultimate list of Vegan Hiking Boots - www.adaptnetwork.com/veganadventurist/vegan-hiking-boots-walking-shoes/ - There are over 60 confirmed vegan models there, but I've only managed to do that by writing to the companies individually to confirm what materials they use. I wrote to North Face about their boots, but have yet to recieve a reply so I don't know whether the glues they use are vegan or not. Normally most big brands say they can't be sure on the origin of their glues, but it maybe worth writing off to them again. I'd recommend writing to them and asking - I'll do the same and I'll let you know if I have a response about this model.
@VeganAdventurist5 жыл бұрын
Can you also link me to the synthetic boot?
@VeganAdventurist5 жыл бұрын
Hey Betsalel, so I just spoke with North Face. At the moment they can't confirm any of their boots/shoes as 100% vegan for reasons undisclosed. I guess because they can't be 100% sure all of their materials/glues/dyes are animal free. But they did say they are working on a vegan range that'll come out in the future.
