I think just a general prediction for s5 is that Kate, Marriene, and maybe a new love interest will die in s5 by Joe Joe was referred to Bluebeard by Beck a couple times before her death with the story of bluebeard being that he married and killed all 6 of his wives. Joe's wife/Gf count is pretty close to 6 Candace, Beck, Love, Marriene, and Kate(if you count Delilah then 6 if not a new love interest for Joe will make it 6) and both Marriene and Kate are still alive so it's really only a matter of time for both of them to bite the dust. I still think Joe is going to get caught due to leaving so many bread crumbs throughout each season like the jar of piss and his own lack of self awareness being what gets him would be pretty fitting

considering Kates family is going to show up in s5 I really hope Joe somehow manages to brink back his old family(his mom and brother) into the fray and seeing how far Joe has gone the interactions between them would be extremely interesting. As for who can take Joe down, I think it would be Joe himself, the only character that successfully cornered Joe to a losing position and won was Rhys who is Joe and considering how much bread crumbs he's left from the previous 4 seasons like the Jar of piss from S1 or the many people he kept alive I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like that would be the thing that stops Joe. As for the ending I think having Joe face trial and getting put in jail seems like the best option but they could be able to pull off a final Joe win if executed well sort of like the Godfather part 2 with Joe winning at a great cost. I'm just praying this season is good

Mona threatened him when she was still “A” and that was one of the reason why she left abruptly before Mona was exposed at the end of the season. Yes, my daughter and I felt horrible for Mouse! And it was odd how the girls didn’t pick up on that? So whoever left Rose the note is definitely a horror movie buff. Apparently my daughter and I are the only people who cackled at Rose E Ricotta’s. I mean, that was hilarious! Oh and my daughter thought it was interesting that the place had “Rose” in its name. One Theory: Do you ever think Joe would try to upend Sandy's life? Like purposely leave clues for either her new husband or son to find links to her past... in a twisted sense for her to feel the loss he felt when she just left him as the boys orphanage? Its a little off line for Joe but in a sense she really was the first lady in his life and while she got to move on... he never really has..

I think she maybe is partly responsible. I just dont see him as a bad kid before she leave him. He is constantly abused by his 'father' and his mother would prefer to look the other way so he has a 'male' in his life. Hes not killing pets, pulling the wings off butterflys. He might be somewhat normal? if not for the abuse. What does it for me is that she gets to leave and start afresh and Joe does not. Starting afresh isnt living at a boys home in the hope that one day your mother will come back for you. A False hope. Not even a visit. We dont get to just cut a part of our life out. We are the sum of our experiences and our environment. You might move to a new country, a new city .. a new town.. but you dont leave yourself behind. You are shaped by what came before. And the scene with her finding her while yes a little creepy, is offset by the fact that she looks happy .. she has a new child who she appallingly gives a name similar to her first in what feels like some attempt to assuage her own guilt. Im not putting all the blame on Sandy here, perhaps she did have bad nights where she thought about Joe... perhaps she did not. But I doubt her new husband or son would EVER find out about Joe. Ever. Imagine how much less of her THEY would think. She might be back to nothing. I agree with a lot of what you have said, but I do disagree when you say she isnt responsible. I think she is, at least partially. Yes he is an adult, but an adult is still shaped by what they were pre adult. It dosnt just go away.

That’s cool you liked the show. I was highly disappointed. I was excited for this show because of its connections to The Sandman and being in The Sandman Universe. But the depictions of death and of Death of the Endless were very out of universe. Death of the Endless comes for everyone, good or bad and in DBD, it’s clear that other things come for people who are bad once they figured out their mysteries. I watched your video to find any connections I missed from The Sandman in DBD but you really only mentioned Death of the Endless. But the death of Edwin takes place in 1916, the same year as when Dream gets captured. Also, Despair of the Endless is in the show also. Honestly, only the episode when they went into Hell was the show really any good. But it was once again a huge inconsistency with The Sandman because Dream goes into Hell and it’s clearly very different. I’m sure there will be some explanation somewhere about these inconsistencies but it’s missed in this show. Also, the Department of Lost and Found is seriously giving me TVA vibes. I read the original graphic novel of The Sandman and the show is very close to it. I know DBD is from the comics also but I am not sure if DoLaF is, it seems silly that Death of the Endless would need these entities help. Maybe I am just not the target demographic for this show as it seemed very CW.

I haven't read the comics involving the sandman or the dead boy detectives so I don't have much to base it on comparison wise. I knew the Lost and Found Department felt familiar and you're right, from what I remember of Loki it felt kind of like that. Also kinda like in the Commission in Umbrella Academy I think.

Dead Boy Detectives was originally going to be a spin-off of Doom Patrol but then the stuff happened with hbo and the show got canceled before it was made. There is a backdoor pilot episode in Doom Patrol where Edwin, Charles and Crystal are played by different actors. Same people in charge did go and made it a spin-off of Sandman instead but honestly it still feels very Doom Patrol.

I haven't seen Doom Patrol but since I have seen The Sandman, I'm kinda glad it ended up on netflix so they can do cameos. Stinks for those original actors though, since they show ended up getting made but they didn't get to continue in the roles.

@@cinekizzle Doom Patrol is a crazier version of Dead Boys Detectives. Kinda hope they bring doom patrol at some point in the show(doesnt have to be the same thing but some of the characters) One of my favorite things they did with DBD in Doom Patrol is Edwin's bond with Negative Man who was a gay closeted men in the 60's with a family before he "died". the main cast in doom patrol all became immortal in some way usually resulted in getting the powers they have in the show. all the characters are kinda stuck in their own hell(metaphorically). The show is basically about this terrible people trying to become better. Part of Negative Man is trying to accept himself very similar to Edwin here.

I also felt foolish for being skeptical about Netflix shoving this show in my face. It looked like one that was right up my alley but I was afraid it was going to be cringe or just handled poorly. So I watched The Sandman and absolutely loved that and the universe it was set it and that gave me the push I needed to watch Dead Boy Detectives. It is now currently in my top 5 shows of all time.

One Theory: Do you ever think Joe would try to upend Sandy's life? Like purposely leave clues for either her new husband or son to find links to her past... in a twisted sense for her to feel the loss he felt when she just left him as the boys orphanage? Its a little off line for Joe but in a sense she really was the first lady in his life and while she got to move on... he never really has..
I think she maybe is partly responsible. I just dont see him as a bad kid before she leave him. He is constantly abused by his 'father' and his mother would prefer to look the other way so he has a 'male' in his life. Hes not killing pets, pulling the wings off butterflys. He might be somewhat normal? if not for the abuse. What does it for me is that she gets to leave and start afresh and Joe does not. Starting afresh isnt living at a boys home in the hope that one day your mother will come back for you. A False hope. Not even a visit. We dont get to just cut a part of our life out. We are the sum of our experiences and our environment. You might move to a new country, a new city .. a new town.. but you dont leave yourself behind. You are shaped by what came before. And the scene with her finding her while yes a little creepy, is offset by the fact that she looks happy .. she has a new child who she appallingly gives a name similar to her first in what feels like some attempt to assuage her own guilt. Im not putting all the blame on Sandy here, perhaps she did have bad nights where she thought about Joe... perhaps she did not. But I doubt her new husband or son would EVER find out about Joe. Ever. Imagine how much less of her THEY would think. She might be back to nothing. I agree with a lot of what you have said, but I do disagree when you say she isnt responsible. I think she is, at least partially. Yes he is an adult, but an adult is still shaped by what they were pre adult. It dosnt just go away.

That’s cool you liked the show. I was highly disappointed. I was excited for this show because of its connections to The Sandman and being in The Sandman Universe. But the depictions of death and of Death of the Endless were very out of universe. Death of the Endless comes for everyone, good or bad and in DBD, it’s clear that other things come for people who are bad once they figured out their mysteries. I watched your video to find any connections I missed from The Sandman in DBD but you really only mentioned Death of the Endless. But the death of Edwin takes place in 1916, the same year as when Dream gets captured. Also, Despair of the Endless is in the show also. Honestly, only the episode when they went into Hell was the show really any good. But it was once again a huge inconsistency with The Sandman because Dream goes into Hell and it’s clearly very different. I’m sure there will be some explanation somewhere about these inconsistencies but it’s missed in this show. Also, the Department of Lost and Found is seriously giving me TVA vibes. I read the original graphic novel of The Sandman and the show is very close to it. I know DBD is from the comics also but I am not sure if DoLaF is, it seems silly that Death of the Endless would need these entities help. Maybe I am just not the target demographic for this show as it seemed very CW.
Yeah sorry, it wasn't meant to be a deep dive, just a quick recommend video so I didn't go too in depth or mention Despair since they show up later in the season. Sorry you didn't like it! I haven't read the comics involving the sandman or the dead boy detectives so I don't have much to base it on comparison wise. I knew the Lost and Found Department felt familiar and you're right, from what I remember of Loki it felt kind of like that. Also kinda like in the Commission in Umbrella Academy I think.
4:07 I think sometimes people on tumblr and just humans in general, forget that characters can be complicated and it's ok to not automatically know how to feel about them. In fact, media that spoon feeds you easy, boxed and check marked, digestible emotions are kind of boring in my opinion.

Dead Boy Detectives was originally going to be a spin-off of Doom Patrol but then the stuff happened with hbo and the show got canceled before it was made. There is a backdoor pilot episode in Doom Patrol where Edwin, Charles and Crystal are played by different actors. Same people in charge did go and made it a spin-off of Sandman instead but honestly it still feels very Doom Patrol.
I haven't seen Doom Patrol but since I have seen The Sandman, I'm kinda glad it ended up on netflix so they can do cameos. Stinks for those original actors though, since they show ended up getting made but they didn't get to continue in the roles.
@@cinekizzle Doom Patrol is a crazier version of Dead Boys Detectives. Kinda hope they bring doom patrol at some point in the show(doesnt have to be the same thing but some of the characters) One of my favorite things they did with DBD in Doom Patrol is Edwin's bond with Negative Man who was a gay closeted men in the 60's with a family before he "died". the main cast in doom patrol all became immortal in some way usually resulted in getting the powers they have in the show. all the characters are kinda stuck in their own hell(metaphorically). The show is basically about this terrible people trying to become better. Part of Negative Man is trying to accept himself very similar to Edwin here.

That is a GREAT way of putting it. It does seem like Doom Patrol and it doesn’t seem like The Sandman at all, other than having a couple characters from The Endless. Even the way the shot DBD, seems like Doom Patrol. It’s not even close to how The Sandman was filmed.

I also felt foolish for being skeptical about Netflix shoving this show in my face. It looked like one that was right up my alley but I was afraid it was going to be cringe or just handled poorly. So I watched The Sandman and absolutely loved that and the universe it was set it and that gave me the push I needed to watch Dead Boy Detectives. It is now currently in my top 5 shows of all time.

Honestly? I prefer TV Joe because he’s seems like a nice guy and that’s what’s terrifying, a handsome, sensitive, thoughtful and cultured guy that is good in bed, a catch right? But beneath the surface, there’s the obsessive, manipulating and selfish killer. That’s more like what the author had in mind when describing her inspiration for Joe in my opinion, the dark truth or optic of the “prince charming” in every Romcom
Yeah I definitely find show-Joe more entertaining because of that. Like he seems one way to the people around him but we the audience get to be clued into what he's really thinking. It's a lot more fun that way

While I personally liked watching season 2 while it aired, I just wanna warn you that season 1 is way better than season 2. A lot of people didn't like season 2 unfortunately, so please don't be mad at me if you hate it lol. At least season 1 was great!
