Learning about my linage here. My grandmother had told me we have family that’s Lenape back in the day. This explains so much but we have such a gap that no one talks about however my spirit is digging for the history

My last name is Rockaway, I've been trying to find which tribe this name belonged to and I think I'm finally making a breakthrough, I've come to learn that the Rockaway last name is possibly of the Lenape tribes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful info

My 3rd great grandmother was a Shawanguk Lenape of the Shawanguk range of the Catskill mountains along the Delaware river in roughly Orange county New York. Her tribe and village were massacred by the Mohawks and Canadians during the battle of Minisink, New York of the USA Revolution. Her name was Patience Ann. Her family had moved to old Senaca territory to Ovid, New York in Senaca county.

Excellent history of Perth Amboy's Terra Cotta industry. I remember playing in the Woodbridge clay pits as a kid. My great grandparents arrived in Perth Amboy in 1901 from Germany. I live in Chicago now & after the Chicago Fire of 1871 many buildings were made from Perth Amboy Terra Cotta.

How many people remember Perth Amboy's ill-fated slogan in 1913 "The Pacemaking City"? The name was popular for a few years and the minor-league baseball team of 1914 was called the Pacers. I wonder if the library has photos of the ball club and ballpark somewhere in their files.

My family and I have been living in an old house from 1949 in VA for 7 yrs now, I recently cleaned the fireplace and noticed writing on the bricks but could only make out Perth Amboy and some random other letters, now I know it's bricks from Perth Amboy Terra Cotta Co. What's even crazier is that I'm originally from NJ and lived 5 mins away from Perth Amboy and I even use to hang out in the city. I'm just so amazed with the history! Thank you for the video.

John, this video, and all of the others you have made, is excellent, in content and quality. It's nice to see such comprehensive material on a subject, a city, which, I think has been overlooked for too many years. I am happy to see that you are presenting a positive side of a city which I grew up looking at, across Raritan Bay, from my home in Keyport, N.J. I was born in So. Amboy, but my family has been in Monmouth County for centuries. I am an avid genealogist. I have not made the connection yet, but I think I am related to the John Collins/Collings, ferryman, who gave bond for the marriage of James Letts and Sarah Sheppard. Many families of the Perth Amboy area moved to Mon Co., including Thomas Warne (Matawan), the Kearney family (1715, where Keyport is today), the Gordons, etc. So, I think the Collinses of the Amboys were my kin. Research will reveal the facts. Keep up the wonderful work. Joe Collins
