Learning about my linage here. My grandmother had told me we have family that’s Lenape back in the day. This explains so much but we have such a gap that no one talks about however my spirit is digging for the history
I am a lifelong student of eastern Woodlands indian tribes and culture...it is fascinating to me
My last name is Rockaway, I've been trying to find which tribe this name belonged to and I think I'm finally making a breakthrough, I've come to learn that the Rockaway last name is possibly of the Lenape tribes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful info
My 3rd great grandmother was a Shawanguk Lenape of the Shawanguk range of the Catskill mountains along the Delaware river in roughly Orange county New York. Her tribe and village were massacred by the Mohawks and Canadians during the battle of Minisink, New York of the USA Revolution. Her name was Patience Ann. Her family had moved to old Senaca territory to Ovid, New York in Senaca county.
My grandmother is a Van dunk from Ringwood! And was so beautiful
Proud to be raised in Perth Amboy!!!!! P.A.H.S. class of "96"!! 🫡
John, excellent documentary on the first inhabitants of Perth Amboy. Are some of the referenced artifacts from the Mr. Mass digs from the late 1970’s?
Would you ever make a video on the Beothuk?
Narration is key.
