If they were to do a remake of Public Eye, who would play Frank Marker?, and would it contain a lot of violence with guns, and would Marker still wear that tatty raincoat?.

Best British film ever - Get Carter and The Wicker Man. I can't separate them.

You only have to play "Dead end street" to realize how the Kinks are relevant through to today. That's Quality, that's Talent. I can imagine every time Paul McCartney and writers of his ilk hear Waterloo Sunset wishes they'd wrote that. The Kinks - more gritty, accurate than most of their time and beyond.
@tonysadler52904 күн бұрын
Brilliant series then - Callan, Public Eye, Harry Palmer, Danger Man et al. Not the low grade over blown hero stuff you get now. A similar character in the USA filmed later in the mid 70s was Harry O (David Janssen. I wonder if the makers of that programme had watched Alfred Burke as Frank Marker ?

I think the thin glass comment in the bar with the clicking of the fingers shows that Carter in a funny way thinks he's better then everyone yet he laughs just like everyone when the singer gets into a fight with another lady. He is ultimately the same as the other Gangsters...even if he thinks he has morality .

I really dislike the Talking Pictures 'trigger' warnings before every bally programme. It really dies highlight how ridiculously 'woke' everything now is. The current restrictions on speech are totalitarian. The other day, I watched an episode of 'Budgie' which actually blanked out a word altogether. Adam Faith's lips moved but we did not hear the word. I knew exactly what he had said. We are not children. This is what the BBC does! Unacceptable.

I'm still aloud to laugh at what I want to laugh at. Are they going to ban the "Carry On..." films now. There's talk about Blu-ray releases of The Rank Organisation films and I don't think anything will be cut out. Cut out the kind of humour that the "Carry On..." films are well-known for and you wouldn't have anything left.

its like when you are a kid shoot em ups and westerns and war and mafia movies were only fiction like toy guns. which one knew were only fun to play with. like when i bought a pack of fags for my dad at age 5 i was not going to take up the habit when i was just on an errand and help myself to one on a sunday morning neither did the shop keeper or anyone else in the late 50's.makes one think what happened to common sense or normality
