I really appreciate the comments that give credit and honor to the work, even if the style is not necessarily their taste.
I hate the posh accent and condescension.
What I dont understand is why she didn't clean the painting or remove the old varnish. The painting looks so dark and to retouch a dirty painting doesn't seem right.
Electrolysis is the best way to do it without removing any base metal, or just soak it in vinegar for 12 hours will remove all the rust. Nice handle work though.
Great video. Sorry, not to be pedantic, but this is not a restoration but a rebinding. :-)
„the artisan modifies the boards, removing batteries and replacing them with sRAM for improved performance“
Fantastic.
Why did they only live in log cabins in the olden days?
Confused why the restorer’s hand oils are not being contained by gloves?
this is my dream job i will probably never get😢
How is the mold prevented from returning though? The paper still looks moldy. All these treatments (except cleaning and drying near a bright window) look as if they will feed the mold.
This is ASMR if I ever saw any haha
Yea, naa. Baumgartner is MUCH better.
Just use a sponge and some Murphy's Oil Soap.
You know what is funny?, maybe in 300 years, a restoration expert with molecular materalizing tech will roast this guy for his methods.
Thank you so much.
I don't dislike the restoration. Just clicked the wrong icon.
There is so much that goes in to these restorations. It is wonderful to see the loving care these works of art are handled with. Because of them, we can preserve Artist works for future generations.
staples???? what in the world..... what serious restoration company would use them instead of tacks????? horrendous.
I found this whole video so interesting. I was enthralled from beginning until the end. Thank you so much.
He’s a pinball wizard…
I just will not have the patience to do even and inch of the adhesive removal, I can’t even wait for my gel nails to soak off before ripping it off. So much respect for people who restore art.
You did an absolutely marvelous job!
Isn’t that an English made by Samuel Ebrall of Shrewsburg, or just Ebrall Brothers between 1843-1891 in UK??
fascinating indeed. how long did the process take? and whats the name of the book?
Mission impossible
Nice job, but I was also expecting to see the cleanliness of the pages from all the stains.
чувство, что она недолжна быть такой темной. типа там финишный лак постарел, потемнел и вот теперь его еще и сверху закрепили
You need to narrate more. Explain more and in more detail about what is happening in the video. It's fascinating to watch. Thanks for posting.
What a beautiful, feminine hands ❤ Those natural nails caught my attention, especially these days when all the women add some artificial extensions and ugly polish.

It’s so nice to take a break from TikTok and just sit back and watch a master at work. No flashing lights or blaring sound; just talent, skill, patience and a meticulous effort to restore a beautiful piece of history. Awesome video!
Scotch tape. Are you serious? No bueno.
Tengo una duda, ¿El restaurar una pintura no significaría perdida de valor histórico?
I could totally spend the day doing this.. getting paid is just a bonus.
'...silicon impregnated...' No, _silicone_ impregnated.
I just watched a chair repair that was done with dried seaweed, layers and layers in between burlap. A complete masterpiece. Not this mess.
Working on a family peace right now, just like the one here… But I do have some repairs, a broken tweezer spring on the left sode barrel. Is it still possible to get parts nowadays?
No one cares
What kind of paints where used
More than restoration this feels like necromancy
Great job, but what makes you say this violin is from the 1840s, and not from the 1900s or 1940s ? I'd like to know...
No doubt the person working on the restoration is adept at their job but aren't you supposed to tie your hair up when working in a lab environment. (This isn't a gotcha but a genuine question)
i mean, its not like theyre in a sterile environment or working aseptically or anything. a hair falling on some glue can just be plucked out
He should’ve polished the top light, while it was not covered by the fingerboard. Olaf the violin maker. Always emphasize the importance of polishing the top plate when the fingerboard is not there because it’s very seldom you get that opportunity. If you don’t need to remove the fingerboard, then you’re gonna just have to polish around it, but here the fingerboard is not there, and he didn’t polish it. How stupid.
Thank you very much for showing me how you do your job and restore old paintings.
Still the cross patch isn't painted well to hide
prbably gets paid thousands even though it only took her 30 mins.
Awesome!
You Sir are an artist!
