Colt Lightning Restoration - Part 4 (Original Finishes)
It's been tricky to upload this video without triggering the fire gun policies. So the video is around 1/2 of its original length, without any product description, unfortunately.
Anyway, here's part 4 of this beautiful piece of history. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

And this ladies and gentlemen is what a premium restoration like this is worth every penny . This episode was only 13 minutes 33 seconds , but probably at least a week or more in the making . More to come , Sam colt would have been proud of you .
Even just the repair of the forward pump grip was totally amazing all by itself. Great job!
..DANG,, the factory would have been proud of a piece of art like that...great resto. glad to be watched the transformation..keep 'em comin'...
She is coming along nicely, but your horse restore video is one of the best youtube videos of all time.
Your restoring skill is second to no one Truly man your are a class above the rest.
I am very, very impressed with your skills, knowledge and perseverance. Anxious to learn how you handle the repair/replacement of the bolt and the hammer. You are doing an marvelous job. And the edited video does not even begin to relate the length and detail of your efforts. I appreciate the addition of notes on time spent on a particular aspect of restoration that is hard, tedious and long.
HOLY CRAP!! You’re a true artist, and a master craftsman. I’m so glad you shared this with us. The entire process was well worth watching. Your channel is criminally underrated; you have content deserving of a million subscribers sheesh.
André, the shining beacon among all the fake-restorers out there ~
Yes you are doing a very fine job. Really glad to find a video like this as I am working on a Taurus knock off and the takedown is the same. You are doing a beautiful job and can't wait to see the end result.

Just incredible! So meticulously done! I’ve dabbled in repairing and restoring guns etc and can appreciate how great you are at this! Some “restorations” make me want to cringe, these inspire me
Holy sh*t this looks amazing, love youre work.👌👌 These few month i have missed the work from you but now that you are back it is Better than ever, keep it up🔥🔥🔥
Amazing job! Alkanet root powder, get from Indian food store in the spice section, in BLO makes a nice red oil. You can mix that in with your Birchwood Casey or any other oil finish. For rust bluing, I also use the Mark Lee solution and I now have been using Birchwood Caseys Browning solution. Heat steel to 275 F and apply. Boil as usual in rain water or distilled water. After about 6-8 applications and it turn a nice deep black. Thanks!
I think my favourite video of yours is when you restored the horse. This series will be my 2nd favourite of yours. Well done. Hope the little horse is doing ok. Stay safe.
Fantastic! I really enjoy your videos!

Que belleza, y que paciencia tiene usted. Lo felicito.
Very cool! Now I need to research the re blueing and the case hardening you did and why. ...if I want to restore my old Remington!
Fantastic job, I hope you have an apprentice because your talents need to be passed on to the next generation so they aren't lost.
Andre it looks Fantastic! Can I have it? 🤣 Seriously, you do Great work, thanks for sharing!!
Pretty damn awesome!
Far away form the end, but great progress. The hard part is done, now just finishing touches. Superb work!!!
This is beautiful work, I'm so sick of the crap KZread keeps pulling!!
Andre, Thank you very much for sharing this labor of love. Looks absolutely awesome. In the last video I saw mountains in the background. What state? If you don't want to answer I totally understand. GOD Bless you and your family (furry friends too) and GOD Bless The Republic!!!
Very very good and very nice
So hardworking
You do awesome work. I noticed that you use regular or mill files. Might I suggest the use of a lathe file. The are cut at a sharper angle. Slightly more expensive but worth the price. Look forward to the finished product. Again fine work
Hello, great job!! Can you tell me the brand of the rust bl solution witch you used? Thank you very much and continue your amazing job!!
The John Wayne observation: "Ya done good..."
Still hope there is a Part 5 with the fully assembled finished product.
One day I hope to be able to fix my school binder as well as you fix guns
very nice jobb :)
Looks amazing your workmanship is really first rate! Enjoy your videos, I don't understand why this would be demonetized either no reason for it...
First rate work!!!!!!
Unbelievable, I would never think this can be even done :-O Máte moje veľké uznanie :-)

First rate restoration. The bluing came out awesome. I can't wait to see what you're going to do with the inside of that barrel. Are you thinking of relining it? How's the pony doing?

I think he should restore one of those WWII machine guns that the Russians occasionally pull out a swamp... I have seen a video where they found 2 RPD's in a tank where all the wood has rotten off.. The tank itself was restored and driven...

Hello I hope you have a great day so the reason why I am writing you is I saw your videos about restorations. And in my backyard while digging I found an old Revolver that's really really rusty thats maybe a hundred or more years old. So I don't know if it's restorable but it would be nice if I could send you some pictures so you could tell me what to do. Sorry if my English is not the best I come from Germany
Hope we get to see you shot it when it’s done.
Andre, please upload a full version of the video in addition to this version. If not on youtube, then on vimeo, and include a link. Excellent work.
Wooooooow!
Wow, great work as always! Is that a S&W number 3 Russian revolver I see at the end? I'd love to see an episode about that someday.
Золотые руки! Даже у DiResta не так круто получилось)))
Boy, What a privilege. Would have been lovely if certain A-grade A-holes would let a wonderful artisans channel educate without interference instead of invoking the jackboot mentality our grandfathers fought to eradicate. I hope one day you and others can ply your trade without threat and prejudice. Well done sir.
What brand of rust blue solution did you use? I have had good results with brownells dicropam IM.

it's too bad Jantz no longer sells bluing supplies, they were more affordable than brownells.
this is turning out beautiful. i really appreciate the re-use of rust bluing and case hardening. im actually stuck with a .22 rifle right now, its a Winchester model 1909, pump action. the barrel was crooked - not bent, just crooked. managed to get the barrel off (after a "gunsmith" failed to do it!) with no damage and almost no heat. but my issue is the barrel needs to be relined, or replaced. im going to try to reline it, that way i can keep the patina look on it. rather than artificially age a new barrel, or attempt to re-blue the whole gun in a way like you have done (which financially isnt an option, unfortunately) but in the mean time, i cant necessarily do all that. so i was just going to put the barrel back on straight, and put it back together. its still a working and well shooting gun, just a very worn bore. i was wondering if you knew what you do to the barrel's threads when installing it back onto the receiver? i cant find anything in any resources ive been able to find that state to put anything on them, (grease, oil, lube, etc) or if you put them on dry. id like to put this gun back together so i dont loose any parts. i wouldnt imagine you would put anything on them, but im not 100% sure since i cant find any info on this.
