thank you
great video excellent
thank you
Thanks again for the video John, appreciate it. You know I got to check it out. You got my vote
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Thank You for sharing your knowledge, Great Video. I hit the bell !!! I’m not a tech , mechanic, Etc . Was getting frustrated a year ago with a P0304 code . Spent way too much money , having my vehicle diagnosed . Decided to try to educate myself and find out what causing misfire . I believe in paying for a diagnostic tests , but when you find out wasn’t test driven , cleared codes , freeze frame data ETC $1200 bucks later engine light flashing after 2 drive cycles (Ford) ! Misfire gone for 8 months , fuel trims , MAF , EGR , Etc all working as they should again . I continue to learn as much as possible, my new hobby . Love when my husband, kids , ask me any question about their vehicles . Thanks for sharing a fantastic, informative, show ! Watched twice !!!! 😊 thanks from 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
thank you for the kind words and support.
THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO. I DO A LOT OF DRIVEABILITY DIAGNOTICS AND THIS VEDIO HAS REALY OPEN MY EYES TO A HOLE NEW WAY TO HELP ME CONFRIM THE REPAIRS..
Glad it helped
Hey John, I'm a do-it-yourselfer and I just purchased a p2500e And I downloaded my Mitsubishi outlander sport OPTION? However, it only let me do a full scan once. Why is this?
hi Brian, I am not sure why that would be honestly. please reach out to Autel’s customer support line. I am confident they will have a remedy for you
@@electron-john thank you
Pls other name for load sensor
mass airflow or manifold absolute pressure
this is wrong when we have no sparks the rear O2 sensor goes high not low AFTER the mixture does not ignite and is rich when we have a lack of fuel then it goes low in the lean mixture
The test shows otherwise…. 😂😂
@@kd8icq NO IT DOESN'T SHOW THE OPPOSITE WATCH CAREFULLY WHEN THE COIL IS DISCONNECTED THE O2 SENSOR INITIALLY GOES RICH AND THEN GOES LEAN THERE THE COIL IS CONNECTED AGAIN
Because of the stupid, dictatorial government
thanks for watching
So the difference between the ignition and spark misfires here is that for ignition misfire the O2 signal goes lean because of the unburned air from the bad cylinder while for an injector misfire the O2 signal goes rich because the catalytic converter absorbs the Oxygen from the bad cylinder?
Looking some scanner danner videos about this topic is total the opposite spark misfire gies rich and disconnected inj goes lean. I tested on my acura it worked like that
@@mandytuning Thanks!
Awesome video i figured that a ignition problem would cause lower voltage reading.
Glad it helped
The voltage went down first when high rpm returned to idle. When the coil was unplugged the voltage went higher?
No, the voltage went lower because lack of spark. If it was fuel-related the voltage would have gone higher.
It seems to me he didn't rev the engine AFTER disconnecting the coil contrary to what he said earlier. The engine started sputtering after the coil was disconnected after which the signal went rich quickly.
Hi John, I’m just north of Cincinnati in Butler County. When I moved here from New Jersey we had emissions testing but it has been many years since I had to have a vehicle tested. What county are you located in?
I am in Summit county. there are only 7 counties in the state of Ohio that have E check still. consider yourself lucky to have gotten away from it. lol
So much useful info contained in such a simple and small sensor. Great video!
thank you
Lmao, we're subject to suffer the expense of emissions testing yet the corporations in those low air quality areas, get to pollute all they want. Not to mention all the rich board members of those companies that fly their private jets around producing more emissions than thousands of cars... State emission and the ppl that enforce them on the proletariat but not the bourgeoisie can go fu*k themselves.
Texas will no longer even have a inspection sticker. 2025
thanks for sharing that information.
Except for the metro areas, DFW, Harris, Travis etc.
@@greggpurviance7252 yeah whenever democrats run things it’s screwed up
Yes, But emissions testing coming in 2026.
@@clementmoves9704 not if trump gets back in 😉
Excellent class for an old guy to learn some solid basic modern vehicle diognostics!
thank you
you should have brought the alcohol to you!!
thanks for watching
@electron-john Your video started while I was commenting on a previous video. When I hit post yours must have been playing!
Your videos are gold . Keep them coming your channel will explode. If you make them they will come 👍🏻👊🏻
thank you for your support
Brilliant test for analog converters 😱 I have soooo much to learn
thank you for your support
Why the software doesn’t update bar never loads
I don’t understand
You are absolutely right about logically process of diagnostic👍
Thanks 👍
How does the AP2500 compare to AP200 which is a similar tool for similar price? the Autel site will not compare the two tools. Do they both scan the HVAC system? No details are available, just some random screen shots.
the 250- allows you to choose one car line for complete access to all the modules for free. so in your case about the hvac module, you would want the 2500
I too interested on HAVAC live monitoring. AP200 doesnt work for HAVAC live monitoring, It gives error "Service not supported"
Love the videos, the more information the better
More to come!
Thank you for this
No problem 😊
Thank you 👍

The one issue I see is that when connected to a vacuum line with a pulse sensor you’re seeing each cylinder pulling on the intake manifold but you’re not seeing anything to do with the exhaust valve. A pulse sensor doesn’t show true pressure it just reacts to the change in pressure and the voltage rebounds the opposite direction afterwards. Thats why you see the downward slope. The exhaust valve isn’t visible from the intake manifold as the intake valve is closed when the exhaust valve opens.
I have been able to find exhaust valve issues with the pulse transducer . due to valve overlap on engines, an issue with the exhaust valve will be prevelant on intake pulses. if you’d like I can try to share a scope pattern showing an issue when I return from traveling.
I’m trying to be a more efficient technician and these videos are really helping. Thank you!
you are very welcome and I appreciate your support of the channel!
Thank you for explaining the details in layman terms. We are not all professional techs, but are happy to learn from an experienced teacher like yourself. Would like to see more videos like this John.
glad it was helpful and thank you for watching and supporting the channel
Does this jobby do gm diesels?
although I did not try it on a diesel, since it allows you to pick one car line for full support, I would have to imagine it would allow you to do lite diesel vehicles
That's a Solar 1000 load tester 100 bucks cheaper at HF
Richard, yes. I mentioned in the video that is where I purchased it from. thanks for watching
Wonder if there is any accommodation for those that spent $70 on the relatively crappy, badly supported MaxiAP200. No ability to save logged data, on Android none of the scaling features work, and sketchy Bluetooth connectivity.
have you tried calling their tech support for assistance?
How do I get to your paid channel?
if you watch on a pcthere will be a join button you can click. for some reason it doesn’t show up on mobile devices
Thanks for the video buddy but I would just go buy an Xtool A30M. On sale they go for $150-$180. It'll do all makes and almost every car you can think of with lifetime free updates. It does bidirectional testing and all systems scan. Live data has everything you can think of. The Xtool A30M is the only tool to get other than a professional scanner. it's almost like having a pro scanner anyways. Do a review on it next maybe. 👍
thanks for the suggestions.
How in depth is it for diesels?
@@charliemagoo7943 It does everything on diesels buddy
@@charliemagoo7943 I don’t own a diesel to try it on
Thanks for training John, where do we get access to your EV training online cheers sandy
Hi sandy, thanks for watching. My level 1 ev training is on the paid subscription channel. Any of my higher levels of ev training happens sporadically via zoom classes. I will make sure that when I have my next zoom classes I mention it on this you tube channel as well as all my social media pages and website.
hi sandy, level 1 can be found on the paid subscriber channel while level 2 and above can be found when I do my zoom classes. I will be sure to mention the next time I have a zoom class on this channel and the website and all the social media pages. the level one is rather long to establish a good foundation which is why it is on the paid subscription side broken down into 13 chapters, the zoom sessions are usually 1 hour long and concentrate more on diagnostic and repairs of various components such as hv batteries, drive motors etc. thanks for watching!
Thank you! That was awesome.
You're very welcome!
the way you EXPLAIN everthing is as if your drawing it in my head. THANK YOU!!!!!!🤯
thank you for the kind words! thank you for watching.
Nice refresher on the older stuff and a good primer on the newer stuff. If I may make a suggestion if you delayed the live feed over-lay on the charts by 5 seconds it would allow us to pause it to be able to read it before it gets obscured. Hope I explained this clearly. Regarding your 68 Camaro I had a 68SS396 Camaro with RS pkg. My friend had the L89 in his Camaro.
Thanks for the tip!
The injector cleaning ideally should be followed up with the end result. Especially the 2 injectors that weren't atomizing the fuel. Will those injectors be restored to atomization? Will the PCM adjust the injector width to compensate for incomplete atomization for an individual injector? Can the O2 sensor scope pattern be triggered to watch the stft on a cylinder with a streaming injector? (non-atomizing iow)
all great suggestions. it is just difficult trying to keep video length to a semi acceptable level.
Love the brain candy! Besides being a great instructor and presenter your video production is a breath of fresh air. Thank you!
I can’t take credit for the video part except for making the investment in equipment. my nephew is the talent behind the scenes with camera shooting, lighting and editing.
New subscriber here. Your channel is awesome! Looking forward to more Electron John. I cut my teeth on the Sun Scope and 4-gas analyzer in the 70's and 80's. We're probably the same vintage.
welcome , and glad you are here. we probably are the same age. lol
i still have issues with maf sensors. some say if you have say a 4.0 it should be close to the engine size. i have looked at lots of fords and it does not hold true. without one of those really expensive scan tools that bernie thompson uses with that ability, could you do a video on this in more detail with other alternatives? thanks
I will try to do a short at some point in the future. right now my travel schedule for my day job is very hectic. you can however, plot the MAF readings with fuel trim manually kind of like how Bernie’s tool does it for you automatically. just use move]ie mode on your scan tool and drive the vehicle. thanks for the support!
Solid video John! The information presented was a great base starting point and evolution of the fuel/fuel injection system. Not to worry about the video length. The technicians who are committed to learning will watch no matter the length. Keep the videos coming. looking forward to your net video, no matter what it covers. We both have been in this industry a long time and I enjoy giving back to those who will listen.
thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement!
Don't worry about the lengths of your videos just make the best quality video you can with the most accurate information
I appreciate that!
