    Electron John should have thousands of views. This goes to show you the mentality of the DIY'ers and a few legit professional techs. They don't want to learn and gain understanding but instead they just want to know how to fix an issue with zero understanding of how the component or system works. What's wrong with this mentality? It's further encouraging parts replacement with a good chance that the problem is not fixed. Other words, loading the parts cannon and crossing your fingers. John, I would like to THANK YOU for what you share and teach. You're top notch in my book sir. You make complex concepts easier to understand.

    Yes! You see a lot of what I did when teaching. Students and working techs (had both in my CC classes) just wanted to know the most common faults, but did not want to learn how the systems worked. Another key is reading and understanding wiring diagrams/schematics (to my mind once a fault is detected then the schematic for that circuit should be pulled [preferably OE if available] and analysed, to help isolate the fault.)

    Mode 6 data can also predict the future. I use it to look at the hex decimal numbers to see for example if the catalytic converter is about to set a p420 code. It’s also invaluable for diagnosing no code drivability issues. Most scan tools cannot display the data needed. And it requires the manufacturers conversion numbers to make sense of the numbers. But if you can master this one mode you’ll become a next level diagnostician.

    Great job. Took a bunch of notes. I watched all 3 videos in one day. Would love to see some real world testing on cars that have a drivability issues. If possible in your upcoming video on fuel systems, would love to see a way to trouble shoot restricted injectors, with a scope, amp clamp, scanner , etc. Something that doesn't require pulling the rail and firing the injectors. Just got my but kicked on a Prius . My guess was right, I knew it was a fuel delivery issue. Eliminated fuel pressure- lean across the board but only misfired and ran poorly at idle. Lean codes in general when its not a vacuum leak and fuel pressure is good and load sensor is good. BTW- I do remember block learn and integrator from back in the day. Thanks again, keep em coming

    Good basic tutorial on OBDII. Glad to know you will explain more detailed information in some future videos. It is critical to know the intricacies of scan tool data so that you can double check or verify a fault & its repair. I took a course in automotive technology back in the late 80's, and since then I had to read multiple books & articles (Motor) to understand how OBDII worked. KZread techs like you have filled in the missing pieces. As more techs & D.I.Y.ers come across your channel you will definitely get more subscriptions.

    Dang bro, I taught my youngest about OBD2 in less time. All I see is you talking about your program that costs money each month to tell you whats wrong. Any decent scan tool will do that. If you dont know what you are looking at or what the tolerances are, that scan tool will be speaking greek.

  • @electron-john

    just so we are clear, at no time throughout the video did I ever talk about, nor do I have a program that costs money each month that tells you what’s wrong with a car. I am giving away years of my experience for FREE and I have to get attacked by you? thanks for watching

  • @99sentcoins

    @99sentcoins

    4 ай бұрын

    @electron-john Yes you give advice but the program you use costs money each month. You feel attacked ? 🤣 If people don't know the tolerances that are allowable on the sensor, how will they know if its bad ? I had a guy tell me my alternator was bad for pushing out 13.8 volts. 🤣 He said it should be 12 v max. When people don't understand, they will get it wrong, regardless. I'm not attacking you or your "years of experience". I give free mechanical advice and services too. I watched the video and was bored. You repeated yourself numerous times and talk too slow. That's not hate either. 😂 Show the scanner in use and go from there with the explanation.

  • @electron-john

    @electron-john

    4 ай бұрын

    again, what program are you talking about? this video was on global obd 2. that comes free with any scan tool. everything I discussed in the video was pertaining to how something works, at no time did I promote something that costs money. if there was an ad that popped up, that was not me. and yes, maybe you don’t like the video because of me and my talking slowly or whatever else you said but I personally would not go to your channel about coins and say what I didn’t like about the videos you have, I would just simply move on . again thanks for watching.
