    You didn't explain the significance of a speed of 45 and not say 49 or 60. Indeed, by the same token why 33.3 rpm ?

    its definitely NOT objectively the best. there isnt a single objective metric that analog exceeds... having said that, I like the way analog (some) sounds better than digital in most cases.

    Being able to see something on an oscilloscope doesn't mean you can hear it. This reminds me of people who used to buy supertweeters that went up to 32khz. Unless you are going to show off your stereo to bats you are wasting your money.

    That is a common misconception that we must kill and bury. It is absolutely false. Enough said that subsonics and ultrasonics greatly enhance the so-called audible spectrum making it more realistic also by creating new harmonics. I did a dedicated video on this topic where I present scientific peer-reviewed literature that demonstrate this and much more: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKiil5lriqypaM4.htmlsi=txBlCms8dAel_jG_

    When I started at university, back in the day, studying for a degree in physics, my chief lecturer explained that she simply did not have the tine to cover every topic needed. So each week she gave us a topic to research ourselves. She explained that she wanted an 18 page, A4 typed essay on each topic to prove we’d researched it thoroughly and gained sufficient knowledge. 6 months into the course she said that by now, we must have a reasonable concept of how much information, how many facts, each essay should contain. So she wanted us to condense each essay to 5-6 typed sheets of A4. These condensed essays should contain no less information than our 18 page essays. The way to do this was to ensure that every sentence contained a relevant fact. A sentence that did not contain a fact, was a waste of space and not worth writing. This principal can be applied equally well to the spoken word and is one I’ve adhered to and has served me well throughout my career and life. I’m not getting any younger and time is becoming a more and more precious commodity. So, when I plough through a video that takes 12 minutes of my precious time. Which could have easily been condensed to 4 minutes with no loss of information, I tend to get board and turn off!

    Weird commentary about price after 9:00 mark. This is not a very expensive amplifier. Why are you framing it like that?

  • @anadialog
    @anadialogКүн бұрын

    I didn’t frame it like that. I said it is expensive overall but if you. Heck what it does it isn’t. Quite clear what is the message, the exact opposite of your conclusion. Just trying to put things in perspective. Plus expensive is extremely subjective and for most people out there €700 is a lot for a headphone amp.

    It is ridiculous! Advertising label from country which killed hundreds of thousands people during last 2,5years and keeps doing that right now! Spreading its “culture” normalizes its crimes. Shame on you. That’s almost the same as advertising in 1939 BMW.

  • @anadialog
    @anadialogКүн бұрын

    Very superficial analysis that follows and repeats media without thinking. Following this perspective we should burn all Richard Wagner records, or do you support Nazism? This is music, art, it goes beyond politics and it is in no way tied to the government. BMW? Good comparison. BMW actually helped the government and the war with several purposely created vehicles. They also used concentration camps prisoners for workers. Don’t think this is the case at Zavalinka. Now drop preconceptions, study and use that thing on your shoulders.

    I use a small circular sprit level and place it on top of the headshell. Just adjust the headshell till the bubble is centred on the spirit level. Assuming the cartridge is screwed sufficiently tight to the headshell not loose, and fitted properly, and your turntable and base are level, which you can check the azimuth should be fine. Grazie per il video!

  • @anadialog

    Alex's amplifier and tuner in 'A Clockwork Orange' were also real: Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 5000 (to the left of the record player) and Beolab 5000 (to the right). They were designed by Jacob Jensen and were at that time considered very futuristic looking with their transparent 'slide ruler' controls.

  • @organfairy

    As a side note there were also supposed to be a Beocord 5000, which was meant to be a rival to something like a Revox A77. But the project was stopped shortly before production was supposed to start because B&O found out that their typical customer would rather have a cassette player instead.........but you probably all knew that.

    So much convoluted handwringing. "I trust my ears" is the root of all nonsense. What you expect is always going to mess up your judgment. Your subjective apparatus is simply not a scientific instrument: you can and will hear differences that are not real. Your ears are not precise tools, and memory is influenced by a lot more than immediate stimulus. As long as you cling to the insistence that what you hear is the final measure, then you will always reach conclusions that aren't supported by evidence. Your rips are identical data-wise. Surprise! What about sound coming out of a DAC or CD/DVD player? Why not capture that output digitally via an ACD and look at the data again? If the output is different, you will see that in the data- iwill be objectively different. Cut out the "measure with your ears" nonsense and prove, actually prove, that the sound is either the same or different.

  • @anadialog
    @anadialogКүн бұрын

    Wrong. It can certainly be helpful but not essential. Why? Because we don’t listen digital. We listen the final analog output and I am interested in that since that is reality with all its imperfections and DAC footprint. We need the whole chain. Not the digital output, that is just half of the story.

  • @mswdesign9164
    @mswdesign9164Күн бұрын

    @@anadialogThis dismissal doesn’t work through my main assertion, which is that if analogue conversions are different, you can capture that and prove that things sound different. Why pass up the opportunity to prove yourself correct? Because then you’d have to talk as if tech-based measurements are more accurate than ears. And that’s your most ridiculous conceit. But it is the chief tenet of the religion.

    position of speakers and or room conditioning may not be possible so one must enjoy what they have . Almost every possible problem exists in my room . the room is 3 meters wide with giant tv at the foot of the bed the ceiling drops down to 1 meter high on the righ and 5 meters on the left . the speakers are on either side of the tv up against the wall . rugs blankets pillows and all manner of stuff interferes with the sound AND YET , it sounds fantastic . the soundstage is incredible arching up over the tv , the bass bounces off of the walls and the mids and highs are at ear level . the clarity and separation is superb and occasionally on a well engineered recording the soundstage becomes 3 D So ,,,,,,,, it shouldn't work but it does and when that happens in life l don't mentally sabotage my joy by following the 'rules'

And in many cases after you get into the $500-$1200 dollar DAC’s you realize you have to step into the $10,000+ neighborhood to realize another significant improvement in sound. Thanks for your review, it is refreshing to hear the unexaggerated truth!

    Guess Guido, my wife (violinist) was so lucky that she could participate in the orchestral recording of F. F. Coppola's brand new movie 'Megalopolis' because the whole score has been recorded in Budapest (there is a famous studio here where tons of Hollywood movie soundtrack have been made). Guido, that's a nice concept you got there. Very cool and interesting. BTW, if the movie is over 20 y/o, don't worry about spoilers... Apocalypse Now.... fun story, my first R2R was an AKAI X-1800SD which cam from Vietnam. And it was from 1972 (the year I was born). I bought it along with over 100 tapes from the grandson of the owner who unfortunately had passed away. It was a cool machine with its own speakers and an 8-track player. Also, funny, I myself spent nearly 11 years in Vietnam (but much later.. in the 2000s) so it made me connect with it. Even though, I no longer have it but still have the tapes... including a Led Zeppelin III reel in pretty good condition... Had to part with it because of lack of space plus a friend needed it to service another machine Those AKAI from this era had a major flaw, the buttons for play etc where using specially formed activators that were made in a material that gets brittle with age. Nowadays, I know some people have come up with 3D printing to make replacement. Heck, I even found a guy who was carving those pieces out of wood and made it work. Anyway, I was happy to help someone and prefer to not have the machine anymore when those pieces disintegrate. Plus I've acquired a bunch of Pioneer R2R (707, 909, 1920) and a more recent AKAI (X-360) so I'm set while waiting to find a nice Technics 1506 in good shape for a reasonable price (I know I'm dreaming). For A Clock Work Orange, one could be more interested in knowing about that luscious turntable he has... (an idea for a follow up video? ;-) )

    Also a blind test must be made seriously with the highest precision, not something you do just for fun on a rainy day in your living room. A source which is only 0.5 dB louder will make it sound better.

  • @francoisdallaire127

    If there really is a sound difference between CD transports there would also be one between SSDs, USB keys or any other media, there is also jitter in a digital audio data stream that comes from a PC, so does your music sound better on a Samsung or Western Digital SSD? lolll. The filtering, oversampling, digital filter are after the data has been extracted from the CD, and the analog filters are at the end after the DAC. It's true that in a CD player filled with buffers for certain functions such as anti-shock, this adds a layer that can alter the sound. Some old portable CD players with an anti-shock function had easily audible distortion in the high frequencies when it was activated, but this is far from being the kind of device we're talking about here, aimed at the hi-fi world. For those who hear a difference between transport systems, I challenge them to pass a double blind test, no one succeeds; it's the placebo effect and expectation bias that alter their perceptions.

    I've owned record players continuesly since the 70's and I would NEVER put any force on the cantilever towards the cartridge body. You may get away with it on a DJ cartridge or one with a short cantilever or one with a very low compliance. You correctly stated that you should always clean using a brush moving the brush from the body towards the stylus, so why on earth hold the gel and push towards the cartridge? The correct way to use this type of product is to place the gel below the stylus and lower the cartridge using the lift mechanism so as to avoid any side to side or lateral movement. Anyone with a thin walled long cantilever such as the Audio Technica range is likely to destroy their cartridge if they follow your advice.
