This is EricTheCarGuy's "other" channel where I cover things that are not necessarily repair related and talk more about the business of auto repair and what it is to become and work as an automotive technician. I guess you could call this the EricTheCarGuy vlog. New videos posted every Monday.

MOOG quality has tanked, its only OEM at our heavy duty shop now. buy once, cry, bust your knuckles once
Moog use to be so good. sadly, they now outsource to china.
Wife and I were almost T boned by an FJ Cruiser....after the light was red for 5 seconds. SUV drivers are careless and inattentive.
Is a 08 Infiniti FX35 AWD a interference engine
Wow, doing dodge/chrysler 2.7 lined it up perfectly, rotated to watch them realign any one that's done anything with timing knows the feeling that over took me instantly when it never did line back up but I only rotated it 20 times maybe.
Great Video! Thank you 🔥👏💪🫶
And yes they are retro fiting them ,yeap lots of 1234yf is using 134a ,now yeap sure do
So the video was yesrs ago it 70 bucks niw fir tge smallest can
The thing about 4WD is that when you need it, it's mandatory. Either you're putting chains on in the snow, calling a tow truck, and/or not getting to your destination at all. It's not immoral to option your vehicle with something that might literally save your life, even if you rarely use it. Even if the environmental haters frown.
Ratio If both gears in the system had the same amount of teeth the mark would be the same all the time. Wear and lack of tensioning are why the timing marks don’t line up perfectly. You are smack full of shit. Happy birthday day
Thank you for this video. I’m not gonna flush my engine now coz it’s old and I don’t want to make things worse :-))
As the years roll on , its usually the master techs that are a stickler for tool lending . Somehow , the arrogance takes over & then runs rampant .
90s Honda everyday baby
They usually steal catalytic converter in groups of 4 because 4 guns against 1 is a military thing
Just happened to me last week. Came home from a week long vacay and found my Outlander in the airport parking garage missing its cat 😢Pay $26 per day to park there but police said they can’t guarantee any safety. Was only about 100 feet from the terminal doors, where anyone could have seen them, and they still took it.
I went to the master muffler in Utah and had my exhaust changed and they stole my Cal converter and I was really pissed off because it wasn’t nurse. It was mine and my sucks ass. I should’ve called the cops, but my husband was like no big deal. I’m like fuck that but anyway don’t go to master muffler do it somewhere else I don’t know.❤
I know this video was made some time ago but SO GLAD I found it before I dropped a bunch of money on new Moog suspension parts for my 99 Chevy Tahoe. Thank you Sir!
The confidence begins once you get in there and just start, try and get a little on your hands and arms. It’s ain’t bad. It’s actually pretty simple.
It’s true
Absolutely. I take breaks because I’m monitor my motivation and focus. The only way im finishing is if I have those.
Yeah, I agree with you, Eric. I did not go to school, but I’ve always been very astute and researched a lot. I got my eight ASE certifications and they are all right, it was the diligent studying that helped me when I worked as a technician.
I can agree, in recently took a specialist ASE and the practice test I kept either just barely passing or I wouldn’t even be close and I just took my test on Monday and actually was allot easier and I got a good score
Thnkx for the info. How about the DOT XF 94 before the month and year of manufaction. What does it mean?
The technology exists to eliminate catalytic converters but don’t get your hopes up on it ever getting past the government
Thanks again Eric. I recently bought my daughter a buick encore with the 1.4l engine. Had a tick and was sure it wasn’t lifters when I bought it, so of course I youtubed it. Sure enough I found a guy showing how the cam chain guide gets loose. So I pulled the valve cover and found the same problem. Found quite sludgy and was looking for a flushing agent on here when I run one your vid. Totally makes sense to me what you described. And with what I’ve read about these engines since I bought this thing 😳 I don’t want to tempt fate. Thanks again. And take care.
You don't have to necessarily use a scanner for those electronical calipers either they have a manual procedure you can do if you don't have a scanner.
what video do they use night vison (green)
Thank you,for your kind advise, probably I'm too old,but i want to learn car engine trouble.
When you say “modern” what year you talking about 2015 and up?
The problem is they are made in China, there is no quality control apparently!
Once again: the voice of reason. Dealer Volvo and Audi: I do the same. I just hit the LIKE button at the start of your videos.
The subscription model only makes sense of you don't have to deal with any repair costs. If you don't own it then you're not responsible for it. Like a Lime electric scooter for example.
💯
I’m good with either. As long as I maintain my oil, I’m happy with a chain. Otherwise, timing belts are a fun job to do.
Synthetic oil is best AMSOIL. What about putting marvel mystery in your oil the day before an oil change?
you did a great deed and thats all you can do. things dont always go smooth.
Changed my VCM, I have backup screens, thankfully I'm prepared for this. Heck, today I sanded down the clutch plate on the AC motor and reinstalled it after cleaning the contacts too. These concerns are valid, but some of us learn from wise people like yourself so we can avoid the mines. Thank you for your knowledge.
What if you’re vvt screens are already plugged?
It sounds like it depends on the engine. It'd be nice if there was a list of engines it would be fine on, and specific reasons why it'd be bad for others.
I'd say that different chain-driven engines have different susceptibility to issues, with many Toyota engines being absolutely rock solid, and many German engines being a nightmare. Personally I'd say that one of the better chain driven engines is superior to belt, while one of the worse chain driven engines would be inferior to belt. And then there's Ford with their "wet belt" bullshit.
BS.
You can flush it if you drop the oil pan and clean off the pick up tube. Like 10 times in a row....
Man I want that fuel cell
I'm trying to do a 6 spd swap on my 2000 RL Do you know how much of the legend components are drop in 1 for 1 for the swap
service contracts do no cover repairs that exceed the actual cash value of the vehicle.
I hope you guys do more stuff with this it would be awesome!
So.....why haven't engineers developed new tech to scrub exhaust gases?
Im confused about the summer and winter windshield wipers mode. Can someone please explain ? What does each mode do please ? Thanks. Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon
Bro, you are a negative nelly. Car dollys are GREAT!! They have done EXACTLY what ive needed them to do MANY TIMES. I've even backed a vehicle into a garage bay with one!! Soon, i will be using a tow dolly to pull my car 3,000 miles in a cross country move. Yes I'll be sure to put new tires and valve stems on it. What I'm trying to figure out is is it good or bad for a rear wheel drive to be backed onto one during transport? Seems good as in no wear and tear on my pumpkin and drive shaft. Anyone else wanna weigh in? And yes i know the drive shaft can be removed but still, the pumpkin will be rotating.
I refilled my 05 yukon after 52 ounces leaked out. It holds 64 ounces total. I ran out of auto trak fluid after 26 ounces and made a mix of 50/50 merc3 atf to 10w30 motor oil for the rest. So far so good.
