I remember making a deck with Reyquaza EX, it contained 60 cards, 10 pokemon and 50 energy cards, had a 50/50 win rate, was great for grinding matches in the online game until the meta shifted, would've gotten away with if if it wasn't for those meddling setups and their pesky GXs. Every match I had could be decided in the first four minutes.

Why are we pretending Crystal crobat needs 4 energy to attack when it really doesn't? You don't need to use the first attack if it doesn't suit your deck or your energy, you could run it in a psychic and grass deck and have it work just fine. Or, in a fire and grass deck for the first attack. Many decks other than grass decks ran that scyther in the early days because it was a really strong basic with free retreat.

@@ich3730 and on some of the "best Pokemon cards" videos there are cards where you don't use both attacks. Or those with absolutely Terrible attacks but you only use it for the poke power. Are these bad cards because "You're not using everything about the card, therefore it sucks!"

@CirnoFairy The bigest problem with crobat is that it's a stage 2 and both attacks are not good, at all. The energy requirements are way to steep for the effects of the attack, the first one, for example, deals 20 damage with a 50/50 chance of statusing the opponent with burn and poison. Poison is alright but doesn't do enough damage on it's own and burn is terrible status condition. The second attack is 4 coinflips and then 20 damage for each heads. One in sixteen times you would be able to knock out an opposing Crobat and one in eighth times you could deal 60 damage. Crobot is stage 2 and for a stage 2, these attacks wouldn't even be that good if they didn't have the terrible energy requirments. The fact that it can only really use one of it's attacks is only the cherry ontop.
@CirnoFairyКүн бұрын
@@Justntelleon I never said Crystal crobat is good or competitive, just that its attacks don't cost 4 energy. It's like if I made an early set jynx, 1 water energy for 20 damage and 3 psychic energy for 50 damage. Does that mean this hypothetical jynx needs 4 energy to attack with psychic? No, it just means you can splash it in a water deck and still have a 1 energy 20 damage attack, or use it in a psychic deck, or, use it in a water psychic hybrid.

Primordial Alter is a card that I think its really good for decks that need to cycle out cards they don't need. For instance, I use a salvatore Banette deck where I really need to get the salvatore turn one, and being able to see the top card and knowing if I dont need it now I can discard it or if its something I want I can trekking shoes for it or use squawkabilly ex or skowet or mew. Its also just a useful null stadium as most of the time you can rid one of your opponents stadium while still benefitting you by being able to cycle to cards I want to control opponent further or setting up more

Hats off to Mega Kangaskhan for being the only one of the seven Megas that never got a Spirit Link to not be on this list! I suppose seeing some use in early XY as the only "usable" mega before Spirit Links got introduced kept it well out of reach of appearing on a list like this. Bit saddened to see several of my favourite species on this list but, well, lacking Spirit Links just puts you in a terrible position with this mechanic. Though even apart from that, many Megas just aren't good period (the prior Top Ten list had some "technically saw a little play, but you probably wouldn't know without research if you didn't play it yourself" at the bottom), and that's even once you make allowances for those in exclusive side products that are nerfed to not become coveted collectors' items, like with the Mega Gengar on this list.

Mega Kanghaskan. It had a generic attack cost and enough HP to never get one shot, so was the best partner for the Aromatisse + Max Potion support engine. This strategy got top 4 at Worlds. Also, Primal Groudon had access to a spirit link but didn't play it because it had a slower game plan in mind. This deck got to a finals at Worlds.
