It's not a going to replace people in critical roles. The man in the loop, what the military calls it. It's for national security reasons. It's mundane jobs people don't want and employers have difficulty finding people. Congress has had tax incentives for employers to hire certain number of color, disable, etc type of people. This is why you have minimum wage jobs, and people keep looking until they find higher paying jobs. 🤝

Taxes are a thief. 🔥 you are seeking "solutions" to the devil... market regulates itself, as proven by science and empirical evidence. When automation comes to place it just makes jobs like laundry as cheap as a Google search. If everything gets incredibly cheaper, then unique human jobs like research would be highly paid. Automation makes anybody to work just a couple of years and spending the rest of each life, running each personal projects. Imagine food automation as water flood... water is so cheap that is practically free, as well as electricity or air. If you want to learn more, read Ray Kurzwail and economic growth textbooks, etc. I think there is a singularly university to visit also

UBI produces the highly desirable effect of removing unproductive workers from the workforce, which concentrates the workforce into highly productive workers. Lazy and unmotivated workers are a drain on society whether they work or don't work. They kill productivity when they're placed in jobs they can't do or won't do. Pretending they convert to hard workers without UBI is believing a fantasy. And creating bureaucratic welfare systems to police welfare is a huge drain on overall productivity. UBI eliminates the bureaucratic waste. Let hard workers work unfettered by freeing them of lazy people mucking up the workplace. Let lazy people be lazy, and maybe later they might decide their minimum level of existence isn't enough and they might pursue something better. Either way. You are stuck with lazy people. They can cause problems for you at work or they can become homeless and sit on your doorstep or you can simply just put them in a safe place that doesn't detract from your experiences. UBI is the optimal strategy for dealing with lazy people.

All money that is printed by gov, including UBI, is stealing wealth from some citizens to give to others. This is how all fiat money works. Please explain to me the exact moral justification for why you get to steal money from me for your survival, which is slavery?

You are totally incorrect sir. You may fool yourself into thinking that computers can rule the world. That They are in fact smarter and faster than a human being. You are totally wrong. This is the shortcut that leads to disaster. I will give you two examples. La shorda eckersley eckersley and gibson. No computer could create or handle that moment. You're a smart guy.I will leave it up to you to figure out what i'm talking about. It's a baseball reference. My second example to you is I took my father to a doctor.. He saw my Dad out of the corner of his eye as he entered the room and the old back to his nurse to bring some specialized equipment. In a split second he a diagnosed something and gave me five more years with my dad. Human being is far superior to a computer. Unfortunately modern culture is going down the road of swallowing the pill shutting off their brains stopping resisting gaining experience and handing everything over to the computer. John Glenn would not go into space until he got a personal as sure. It's from the woman who figured out the calculations. We need to trust the human beings not the computers. Experience and mental agility.Far road stripping a computer. Unfortunately people can't even do basic math now because they all have a calculator. I once went into a coffee shop to purchase. A coffee and discovered that the people serving were shutting down the coffee shop because the power was out. So the tills they used would not work and the tills could not tell them how much change they were supposed to give us.. I mean these people were high school educated and yet they could not make change on a cash sale. You are going the wrong way and you are trusting the wrong thing. The riots you predict. Will not happen because people are already becoming Dassile creatures. This will be the great acceptance of socialesson and the dense of less perversion. Then someone like bill gates in the future will eliminate half the population. I wonder how they're gonna do that. A dawn child population quarantine for a couple of years. No, maybe you're right, it couldn't happen LO.L

UBI started a strong phase in Germany from 2005 to 2012 and I guess the US would already have UBI, if Yang would have discussed it as a tool to end the chaos in taxation on workforce. Everyone hates taxes (and politicians and China:) and income taxes only create chaos on motivation and transparency for the working class. With UBI you can switch to other forms of taxes ... but that's the last thing politicians want, because with income tax they have the best tool to reign into your life.

civil asset forfeiture, abolishment of private ownership of land, universal basic income, terms and conditions that apply in order to become and remain eligible for universal basic income, terms and conditions like willing forfeiture of your civil assets and agreeing to abolish your private ownership of land if you think universal basic income is a good idea then you are lost, in your blind pursuit of what you think is utopia you will only achieve a dystopian state, stop drinking the kool aid

I think this is true, but it’s important to get the timeline right which is incredibly difficult if not impossible. The reason it’s important to get the timeline right is because it informs us on how to create policies and other forms of preparation. If there really are going to be 25% fewer jobs in 6 years, then those plans will be much more extreme, risky, and disruptive. It will come at a high cost to our mental health and it will cause a lot of displacement as our society bends to the breaking point trying to adapt to an environment changing that quickly. In other words, if this timeline is wrong, then we will pay a high price that is unnecessary. There’s even a scenario where society fails to act at all, and then when they realize that all the panicking over job losses is actually unfounded, then the institutions who pushed hard to act so aggressively for ultimately no reason lose A LOT of credibility. The cost of the opposite is also extremely high. If we really do lose a lot of jobs and we have not prepared at all for it then we will be trying to play catch up while millions are unemployed. It’s a tricky business. Unless this sort of thing happens at an extreme speed, I don’t see any evidence that that many jobs will be lost within that timeframe. There might be signs of software jobs being lost because of LLM’s, but it’s still not clear whether that is simply a business cycle or if it represents a larger trend. Once self-driving becomes safer than humans driving, I think things will really start picking up steam. But so far, self-driving is proving much more difficult that originally thought. It’s still an open question as to whether we can brute force it with data or whether we need new architectures and maybe even improved infrastructure (clear road lanes, etc.). The point is that making a prediction like this should be done with caution and I think it goes without saying that it’s near impossible to predict the future accurately and consistently. Being to early or too late both have heavy costs.

I’d make a distinction between progress and optimization. I don’t see the example of fossil fuels as a progress trap. They were a necessary step forward. With every problem we solve, we don’t solve the problem so much as trade it in for a better problem. Then we work on solving the new problems. That doesn’t mean we got trapped, it just means that it’s impossible to just find the Answer and be done. On the other hand, the example of the Neolithic people driving too many mammoths off a cliff is an example of over optimization, and I think we can all agree that you can’t pick one variable and optimize for it indefinitely without it leading to absolute insanity. You have to take into account all variables. This is why companies have to regulated since they are designed to optimize for profit endlessly without regard for anything else. This is also why AGI is so scary. If we ask it to optimize for something and it does it in the limit, we all die. I guess I see the need to distinguish between the two because just because a solution presents a new problem doesn’t mean we failed or that we didn’t make any progress or that we fell into a trap. It’s just the nature of problem solving, and it shouldn’t get us down or leave us feeling empty and cynical just because we didn’t solve all problems with one solution. On the other hand, over optimization is a trap, and it’s one we do need to correct for and be mindful of.
