This video is the third in a multi-part series discussing computing. In this video, we’ll be discussing classical computing, more specifically - how the CPU operates and CPU parallelism.
00:00 Intro
[0:27-4:57] How The CPU Operates - Starting off we'll look at, how the CPU operates, more specifically - the basic design of a CPU, how it communicates with memory, the stages it executes instructions in as well as pipelining and superscalar design.
[4:57-8:00] Computing Parallelism - Following that we'll discuss, computing parallelism, elaborating on the hardware parallelism previously discussed as well as discussing software parallelism through the use of multithreading.

Yo I don't know if the video creator would or narrator would see this comment but I have been thinking about optics and photonics as like something to pursue career wise education wise nonetheless.. for the better insight for when it comes around the actual development of an actual photonic computer just throwing that out there I don't even don't even have the right folks to talk to you at the moment I suppose
Lower music we’re here for that knowledge

It should be much lower. The bg music gets too much in the way of non-native speakers.

Agree. Great video and love the graphics, but the music was entirely too loud for iPhone speakers.
I just discovered your channel and the content is truly impressive! I can tell how hard you must work on producing these videos. I just subscribed now and I hope your channel continues growing!

Loved your video... great explaining with awesome visualization....
Awesome video, man. Thanks so much for posting!
This video is golden! There hasn't been another graphic video explanation about CPU function like this one, Have watched many, but this one was the best to comprehend, Always wanted to visualize, like, view inside the computer, CPU has to how things works .. This one has served the best!
thank for the effort you put in this video to make the information clear
DAYUM I LOVE YOR VIDEOS good job man !!
Your video is awesome but one thing you need to do is lower the speed of you explanation .

I love your choice of music, and the information was very thorough
Great work it must take you lot of time, I hope you get many more followers you deserve it. But they will be geeks like me. Too techy for the main stream. Again well done.
I don't understand a lot of it. But I hope to continually rewatch it. I love the detail

Very useful knowledge easily explained for people learning from ground zero like me.
Oh man. How come I have never seen this nice channel. No words!
My question is, what exactly happens inside the cpu that makes the cpu able to process logic, how does electrons do that?

Your videos are insanely good. Thank you for creating these
Amazing explanation!!
I like your video, thanks for showing and kind regards. Perhaps the next one results in the progress in computing.
by the end of the video my eyes were like this O.O great video, thanks man!
HATS OFF SIR,FOR UR GREAT EFFORT
nice work learned alot
thankyou for your work
Love this computer for a long time
Great video! For the record his talking speed is perfect for me.
Sir can you please explain how transistors and flip-flops and registers work with memory and storage
nice explanation.
Resonance in the background? Is this heaven?
i love your videos, but you need to either adjust your mic settings (wayyyyyyyy too much low end/bass) or cut the music completely. i have to turn every video up way loud just to make sure i hear everything you say.
How does the operating system know that there are multiple cores in a computer ? Also how can the operating system select different ones for different applications. I have seen this pretty much happening in windows where the programmer has the ability to select the core for an application ?? It would be very thankful if you could clear my doubts sir
Still talk incredibly fast. Aside from that, well constructed video!
I love ur explanation bro💖
Very educative video
Found this video to be very helpful and interesting. I just thought that the music was a bit too loud, but maybe that's just me.
Great video!!

With which application did you create this animation????
it was wonderful.
Clicked for the knowledge. Stayed for the soundtrack
HyperThreading and Multithreading are not the same thing (HyperThreading is a CPU design technique to allow a core to run as two threads instead of one, Multithreading is running multiple threads at once in general)
Literally nothing about how a cpu works. Just high-level explanations of what a cpu does.
Magic that's how it works it works by pure magic
The 1Instruction/1Clock Cycle is based on the assumption that the instructions as we go down require less clock cycles which is untrue. Multiplication requires more than Fetching. If we choose 5 clock cycles for each instruction, we are going to get 5 instructions done in 9 seconds. General Formula would be 4+n seconds for n instructions. It gives us 9/5 = 1.8 or generally 4+n/n = (1+4/n) instructions/clock cycle.
Linus 😂😂 , incredible content 😍
I’m still amazed how information pictures colors numbers can be stored in plastic metal
Good video, just May I suggest you Turn the volume down and slow your talking down a little bit
As others have mentioned, this is an awesome video with excellent illustrations! However, I would sincerely recommend you lower the background music and also not talk so fast!
this looks really interesting, but as a non native english speaker, I usually have no problem understanding fast talking, but with the music on top, its unbereable. I really hope you can lower the music on your next videos!! I'm eager to watch it
I wanted to know how a CPU works, now I KNOW!!! T/Y
can u tell us how to create a processor
Can you do one about hypertreding and why cpu on Paper looks the samen bit have a huge performance diffrend
Very informative video but the music is distracting.
good thing youtube has caption

The video is good but you need to slow down when you talk. Can't understand what you are saying, which is a shame because there is a lot of good work in this video and I would have used it for revision with my classes otherwise
Intro music name plssss
could be done a CPU that instead of adding instructions one by one would use multiplication, or area calculation of geometric shapes, or derivatives or integrals on an axis of numbers that adds computing power?
@danuuu101
5 жыл бұрын
Technically it's possible and binary multipliers are implemented sometimes but depends on the implementation it's a huge waste of energy to make specific circuit for each type of mathematical operation and also the cpu will over heat way faster which make it slower or damage the transistors.
Guys, I would love to read a book that explains exactly what was approached in this video. Can you guys recommend me anything?

Your video content is good but the background music is too loud that it makes your voice inaudible.
You explained what the cpu does but in the back of my mind I still don't understand how it's able to do so like really does anyone understand what I'm saying
Too much ads Man... but nice video
This is basically every c.sc class ever, nobody ever explains the physical process as to how these operations take place, how does the processor know what to do, how does the data flow and how does the processor process the data...
Excellent instructional video. I had to laugh at the "over-simplified" message. The narrator's voice is a bit stoic. He sounds sort of like Joe Friday on speed.
OK, but, how do the electrons know which gates to go through, and if they only have to go through some gates, how do they miss/jump the rest of them? The instruction might only need to go through a classic (and very simple) IF, AND, OR, ELSE command/instruction set, so, that's 4 gates, yes? So how do the electrons get to the other side of the chip/CPU without going through any more gates (the remaining 10 Billion gates), and how does the CPU know if the electrons even went through the right gates? I'm still looking for a video that explains this, it keeps me up at night. Everything is conscious, is the only answer that explains it for me... TJ

To explain, I used to analogue - CPU as Customer Service - core as CS staffs - RAM as waiting room Then I realized cache is more suitable as waiting room, and RAM is the . . . Umm.. Do you have better analogue?

think cpu as your brain doing math problem the core is the brain the ram is the working 'paper' that you use to solve the math problem the cache is the short term memory of your brain that you use to store the working before writing them onto the 'paper'
