Hi I live in South Africa and Novus isn't as accessible any other tools?
Is there something I can do for a PS3 game that has a kinda deep scratch which makes it unreadable?
If there was a repro company that clearly printed "reproduction" on the label (replacing the Nintendo logo perhaps) and printed "reproduction" on the PCB, I'd be so into that.
This stuff works pretty good. I did all my music cd's and they all look like new. The more you buff the better it looks!
Hi! Nice video! I'm from outside US i live in South America in Chile, do you have a good plastic polisher like this? Thank you!
What are the gloves your wearing in the video and is that just a normal paper towel your using or does it matter thanks 😊
I smell on everything too 😂 even new out of box things. But to say i have a very strong sense of smelling
Could you do a part 3? Where you clean some manuals and game arts that has tiny mildew spots on it in practice. I've been following your method of vinegar (50/50 mix) and a lot of sun, but some games, I can still feel and see a bit of spores in the paper. I'm new to this stuff, just started collecting ps3 games last month, and I'm shocked with the amount of dirt and mildew/warm spots present in half of the games that I buy online. Thanks for your fantastic work!
Thanks for putting this video together. I learn lot watching this.
Does this work for ps3 games?
Have you by any chance made a video on dents or little warped spots on a GameCube disc, I got my disc resurfaced and noticed a couple of little spots that's are warped it's not reading the disc if you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it thanks
The Bob Ross of disc cleaning :)
Thank you so much! I owe you for this!!
Tried the toothpaste method on a copy of Driver for PS1, that looked like someone took steel wool to it. Before it would spin up, try to read it a bunch, spin down, repeat that 4-10 times. Still does the same thing, so at least it didn’t make it any worse! 😂
The important things is. It is gonna work? It will have side effects? Like... having more scratches and even make the disc broke.
Does removing the scratches cause the movie to be unplayable?
No sir! Removing the scratches allows the movie to function! Removing scratches helps with skipping, trouble playing, heck even audio issues!
How would I uh go about removing a rentals glue from a manual and case and the sticker on the disc 😅
Do you have to use Novus 1 as the final step or can you use something else? I just bought some Novus 2 to remove scratches from my CDs and wondered if i needed Novus 1 too.
My only question here is even after a few rounds of Novus2 polishing, and the disc working much better, are any instances of crashes just the gamecube disc reader being faulty?
I smell all my games too!!
hi, great video! wondered if you could help me? I have a PS2 game that has some signs of smoke damage on the inlay and i’m wondering how best to clean it? would be great if you can help out!
Of course! I've got a video planned, but you pretty much stick the inlay in a plastic bag with some baking soda (enough to cover one side of the inlay) and let it sit overnight. Pull it out the next morning, brush it off and see if it still smells. You might have to let it sit a few days, but it'll get rid of most of that smoke smell!
Its not even the original owners to blame for this, its all the resellers, retro game stores and thrift stores who are ruining these games with how they store them
Love your content keep it up 👍🏻
so the water damage, i used to see kids that would use the case as a coaster. id guess that is why.
for that dragon quest 7, id probably keep the original box art somewhere but id order a reproduction case and boxart.
I’m also very picky about my games, especially older ones that go for a lot of money. So I can see where you’re coming from I really enjoy your content, keep it up.
Believe it or not, I have had pretty good luck with a Magic Eraser
While I would believe it, Magic Erasers (officially known as melamine foam) are essentially just sand paper. So I don't recomment people use it on sharpie!
Did anyone else ever use their hot breath on the disk then give it a wipe back in the day?😂
Here me out! Saliva is like 99% water. So it's honestly not the worst thing to use!
Is it feasible to use shield miraplate liquid car polish to polish a blue ray dvd?
You can, but some of the liquid car polishes contain more wax than polish, so just see what the content is!
What can I do if the inner ring has multiple small cracks and is even missing a some plastic from one side? I have a disc of Samurai Western that works perfectly but the inner ring is rough... I don't want it to break since I really like the game and it is too expensive for me to replace.
So this one is tough. There are ways to reenforce that center ring (and ways to replace it) but its not always the easiest. I've got a video series where I go over the steps, but even then it can be tricky. I'm trying to find better methods too!
@@RestoreAndReplay Could you please link the video?
I thought you answer questions. Well, doesn't look like you do because I have left several questions from previous videos and did not even get one reply. Are you not on YT anymore?
What do you mean? I absolutely answer questions! Watcha got question-wise?
@@RestoreAndReplay Sorry, I just thought you would answer them right away. lol! I guess since I haven't seen a video from you in awhile I thought you had quit YT. Thanks for answering all my questions. Love your Channel and knowledge. It brings back a lot of memories of me being a GS manager as well.
So funny! I always advised people from buying this horrible product.
Love your videos man
Hi please make more videos!!! So useful and fun to watch
I've got another one uploading today!
Oh man oh man. This is so depressing. I have had everything from my childhood on in my parents closet upstairs in TX for the last 30 years! sigh. I didn't have room for all of it in my house and that is why they are there. They do not keep the AC on all the time because they are mostly downstairs. I am going to go get them. I live in a bigger house now with a basement in a dryer climate. I have a very bad feeling about this. I am probably going to lose a lot of stuff. Oh man. So bummed. :( My question is, how do I know that the uvc light is working?
You can tell the UVC light is working because you'll see a faint aqua color glow coming from it!
That is really good advice about treating everything the same way.
Hey Doug. I am catching up on your latest video. In just a few days I started from the oldest and now I am here. You and I sound very much alike, except for the germaphobe issue. lol!. Thank you for your passion for this work. Not too many care.
I have asked this before. Can you please show me how to do a mirror finish? I like my disks to be perfect. Is it possible or should I just take it to someone that has a disc cleaner?
So you can get a mirror finish on your own, I'll have a video about that soon, but keep in mind that that perfectly clear finish will attract dust and dirt faster! weird right??
I am a perfectionist and like the disc to look amazing. Mirror finish. Anyway of doing that or do I need to take it to a store that has one of those machines?
You absolutely don't need to take it to a store, you can do a mirror finish on your own! I'll have a video about it soon!
I've been watching your videoes to help get a copy of Final Fantasy 9 back in working order using your methods. It worked near flawlessly, better than before, thanks to you! Now I'm trying to polish a Sonic Adventure 2 Dreamcast disc that's riddled with deep scratches and circle scratches. It's been machine polished twice, just to get past the title screen, and now it has problems loading parts of the game (levels and such) even crashed once. What is your advice on cleaning a Dreamcast that's troublesome to get working perfectly?
First step should be to measure the thickness of the disc, if it's been machine resurfaced, you might be missing too much material!
I have never heard of this game. I just looked it up. Oh my!! It is worth a TON!
How can I Fix my copy of SSX ON TOUR to work smoothly on my Nintendo Gamecube that game means alot to me.
I've got a whole cleaning and repair series on GameCube discs! Be sure to check it out!
I use car polish too, but for really deep scratches I use a dremel polishing wheel to great effect !
So just be careful with anything powered rotation like that. You can actually start to get a wave-shaped pattern on the disc itself. A guy sent me over a few discs he tried to clean with a bench sander (with a polishing wheel) and they all started to ripple!
It matters to a lot more people then you think. Really great stuff. So glad I found your channel.
Your frustrations are so funny because they are so justified. I used to work as a store manager for GameStop and I was always shocked to see the kind of condition people would trade their games into us. Sticker, writing all over cartridges. Discs that looked like they were used to skate on. Very frustrating. Thanks for the awesome video. It gives me confidence that I can do this as well with some older games that I find in bad condition.
Just found your channel. This is really great information. Still have all my systems and games since the 2600. I am a clean person so no worries with my stuff. BUT, the stuff I get at garage sales and such, oye, it is another story. Thank you for your channel.
I had same Problem with PS2 Games were Scratched same as PS1 games and Wii Games
At this point if you want to play earthbound on original hardware without breaking the bank why not just get the repro?
Good question! So most Earthbound repros are using a ROM file that has audio issues. So you won't actually get the authentic game. But by that same logic, why buy a repro? Why not get a ROM cart or just emulate? Ya know?
Shoutout to this video helping me replace the bottom half of my Final Fantasy 7 copy, which wasn't in the best condition
I got a TIP for sharpie, if you use rainx water repellent, sharpie wipes off with 0 effort, it's like magic. You just have to be careful around non-glossy labels, but for glossy labels it works too.
