Hey y’all - We are Morgan & Sean and we are crafting our home together in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina.
We blog here at Charleston Crafted to share with you our experiences on transforming our home into our dream home. We’re also empowering YOU to try DIY by showing you easy ways to make a huge impact in your home.
Before we started on our DIY journey, we had no idea what we were doing. We have learned as we go and are continuing to learn every day. We have no background in construction or decorating or anything like that. We continue to evolve as DIYers and we are here to show you that crafting your first home doesn’t have to be difficult, scary, or expensive. We love sharing advice as well as projects going on in our own home and we hope that you will enjoy following along.

What color is this?
I always use a wet magic eraser works great but ill try cardboard
I need this...
I bought that exact white frame-I opened my SUV’s back hatch and it fell out and broke. The glass was intact. Why? Because the frame was made from plastic wrapped STYROFOAM. Ohmygosh. What a waste of money.
Can I get plans for this? Thanks.
@@mesabob yep, you can get them here! shop.charlestoncrafted.com/product/diy-outdoor-garden-bench-printable-pdf-woodworking-plans/
Thanks so much for this video and written article! Just what I needed and was looking for. I have a silver metallic chest that rusted due to the rainy season and would love to restore it. Your details were right on the spot!! I am going to purchase the Krylon Metallic Silver Spray for my project.
@@cassandrahendersongadson4713 good luck with your project!

The weeds will just grow back unless you pick them by the root
@@wyattmeisner9115 this tool literally scrapes the entire weed out of the ground, including the roots.

@@CharlestonCrafted thank you
You dont have to change the water?
Wow 🤩 Thank you so much!!!♥️
What is the height of the tool? Trying to find the dimensions online but it keeps giving me the insert. I want to make sure it fits where I intend to store it.
Gorgeous! I use Simple Mat and Fusion pre-mixed grout for backsplashes and have had beautiful, long-lasting results.
My question is can you wash it and dry it cause the heat from the dryer or the hot water will ruin that rug glue??
@@gaylenewood7707 good question. I haven’t tried
Wow I should have watched this before taking apart my whole oven 😂
@@nicolechavez1133 now you know for next time
better than tape ?
@@rcg224 way better
I just watched a video of a similar install and after they finished, they had ran another small bead of silicone to the top of the inside of the sink to ensure its waterproofed after the initial job. Great video, and great looking bathroom!
Wear a mask and eye protection.
Does sawdust cause that much harm that you need the ppe mask?
Inhaling sawdust can be very bad for your health. Remember, we’re talking about tiny flecks of wood here.
vinegar is not good for wood! İt is acidic so it damages wood
You made it look so fucking ugly lmao. It was beautiful the way it was before lol.
Thank you for this idea. I've never heard of this before. Why? Why have I never heard of this before

@@kathyanstey3399 well we also live in South Carolina. The weather is so hot most of the year that it would become so hot and muggy in the house very quick and the AC would be running wasted.
This looks familiar, I voted for the opposite direction. Your kitchen, your wall
So did I lol. Overruled
Looks like fish scales. Super cool!
Yeah it turned out good!
I didn't know these mats existed. That's pretty cool.
Coming from a tile guy, it's a giant waste of time and money
They are relatively new and made it much cleaner!
@@george_denbroughbut not everyone is a tile guy. I’ve done it both ways. I think this is a great option for a homeowner to make it easier on themselves versus mixing and spreading mortar.
@@CharlestonCrafted Ah no not really takes even longer, besides those should be used only for decorative spaces not wet, steamy, or greasy areas.
@@adrianpolecki4278 this is just not true
Oh I’m afraid to do this. I wanna but so 🐓 chiken
Use a screw driver ya lazy pukes. Also it’ll prevent stripping. Once those screws are gone. That hinge is useless
👍
Looks realy nice is it tile or like a wall paper
Tile!
What color and brand? I love it
Dark Everglade by Behr
I have travertine on my shower walls, bathroom floors, and kitchen floors. Do you think this would work for those high traffic areas?
I would not use this method on floors. You’d need a thicker topcoat like epoxy type paint
Fish scales, if that what you’re calling the bowl view. Mountain just looks wrong.
100% fish scales!
Wowzer! Followed your instructions and did everything you did and used everything you used. My travertine tile looks amazing. Would highly recommend recommend this approach and ingredients! So easy and it looks great! I did not use a primer and after 3 coats I arrived at the look I wanted. I sealed using the same clear sealer for acrylic paint. 😊
I mean i can understand the reasoning especially with me tripping over air so i could see it but if its a bathroom, why not just put bathroom rugs instead of an actual rug, bathroom rugs arent supposed to slip
It’s a laundry room and this is a hallway runner longer than bathroom rugs typically are! Plus I already own this rug and like the look don’t want to buy a new one
@CharlestonCrafted ah I gotcha, yeah I wasn't 100% sure if it was a bathroom or not but that could work as well.
If your mantel is being held on by caulk alone, you’ve got more concerns
I could not see any of the samples because your (next) video pop up covered all of them. Bummer.
But one has to buy a jig for drilling ( $40) and a nail gun ($150) . The 1x4 is too flimsy . Also I put a hinge on my one hidden compartment!
I mean to build anything, you have to buy the tools first if you don’t have them.
💥 rip
Yep, panel needs to float
Should be floating panels
What do you mean?
@@CharlestonCrafted I've built a lot of doors and I was always told that the panel should not be glued but should have an expansion gap. I put space balls in the groove that stabilize the panel but allow for expansion and contraction. I am not criticizing anything I just didn't finish the entire thought in the first comment. Everything looked great!
@@stevenclark2232 guess we’ll see what happens!
You cam also save some money and buy 3/8 dowel rods in several species of wood and use them. Faster and cheaper.
That’s another option
You'd be pissed

Faucet
You need a new hose or a new faucet. The threads obviously have a problem.
